  1. Post combos you've found here. I'll make the first post once I get my hands on the game myself.
  2. Ask questions about CF Noel here. No question is too dumb. Unless it's not gameplay related, then it's dumb. If not asking a question, feel free to answer some questions, help out your fellow Noel. We're all suffering here together.
  3. Post some videos of your Noel matches here, and we'll pick it apart, and give you some advice on how to step up your game.
  4. Talk about Central Fiction Noel in this thread here. Discuss strategies, theories, sadness, all that stuff, RIGHT HERE! IN THIS VERY THREAD!
  5. Post any Noel videos for BBCF you want to share.

    [CF] Noel Vermillion Video Thread

Damn, there are still people who don't know about the drive landing cancel? I personally don't use it, but that's been around forever, like at least CS1.
  7. Don't you mean 2B > 6C? Or did they allow 5B to gatling into 6C now?
  8. That's also a crouching combo, but that bothers me since it's much less damage than we used to get off of the 5B > 5C > 3C route.
  9. Credit goes to Finuve for this list of BnBs, originally posted in the changes thread: "so I've been playing, trying to get a feel for things. 2B starter gets around 2800 with 2B > 6A > hjc > j.C > j.D > d.6C > d.6B > d.5C > d.6B > d.236D swap the combo around in a way I already forgot and you can get 2400 and a 22B ender for oki Most combo videos seem to be missing 6D and 4D starters so far. I havent come up with a 4D starter yet but for 6D mid-screen to corner carry: 6D > d.6A > d.6B > d.6D > 22BC~66 > 6C > 5D > d.5B > d.2D > d.5B > d.2D > j.214C > j.2C (can replace j.214C > j.2C with 632146D) Far from corner: 6D > d.6A > d.6B > d.6D > 22BC~66 > 6C > 5D > d.5A > d.6A > d.5C > d.236D 6D is pretty easy to call out raw, but its extremely useful in certain matchups like Nu. I need to test it more in actual player matchups to see where else I can use it. The invul at the beginning is really strong, but the move has quite a bit of room during the final flip into attack that it can get poked. The new 2D is really good, but I need to find out some combos starting with it still. In places where 4D gets poked out by lows 2D can vault over them. Other notes. 22BC is extremely important for comboing like it is in BBCPE, but its timing is different. I havent decided if its easier or harder, but its different. Drive combos have less autopilot that pretty much any previous version. d.6B > d.5C > d.6B doesnt chain in all situations. Corner you use a lot of d.5B > d.2D > d.5B > d.2D. Its hard on my muscle memory that I can no longer do 4D > d.2D unless its a counter hit. 4D > d.6D works without counter and its the only real option I have found so far. I have 8 nights left in japan, hoping to get a lot more time in."

it's actually really easy to tell which of your character's threads have already been made. Go to the first post, and select your character in the first box, it will then generate the links to every matchup thread featuring that character. It's how I did it, I didn't need to go through a bunch of pages.

Yeah we need to be really careful of duplicates. For example, after I made all the Noel threads, Gamester made a Rachel Vs Noel thread, so now, at the top if you search Rachel vs Noel you will get his thread, but if you search Noel vs Rachel you will get my thread. We should probably correct this before it becomes a problem.

  15. Some of this stuff has been around for awhile. We prevent information from getting lost in the shuffle by keeping the OP of a thread updated, and we (used) to reward users who helped out by giving them DL award badges. Dead links will always be a problem as long as we're using external sites as hosts, the only way that can really be solved is having our own tube and hosting videos ourselves on dustloop. The problems with that are probably pretty obvious though.
  16. You're going to have that kind of problem every once in awhile. I can at least assume that if the player knows what they are talking about, they will at least have enough respect to keep those kind of comments to a minimum. I have experience in this, since I hate fighting pretty much every character lol. When that kind of stuff happens, the mods can handle it.
  17. Zissou's idea on how to handle the matchup threads is perfect in my opinion. I don't think it would be hard to pull off either, so we should totally get on that.
  18. At that point you're just asking for less mods to do more work. Meanwhile, most of our Head Mods do enough work as it is. I think the current way we handle mods is fine. I'm really not entirely sure why people have an issue with it. The only thing I'd really change is how the site displays your position on staff. It tells us Admins are Admins, and Super Mods are Super Mods, but everyone else is just "Staff" or "Moderators". If it listed the mod as what his actual position is, it might help prevent some of the confusion some people might have about "Who's this random chucklefuck I've never seen before, and why is he a moderator?" If it said under my avatar "Noel Mod", then that same person might think "Oh, he mods Noel, I only ever hang around the GG threads, so I suppose it makes sense that I've never seen him post".
  19. You would think that, but that's not true at all. If you ever saw the Noel subforum before I was made mod, you would find out what it's like when the boards are left to no one in particular. Just as an example, people think ONE general thread is bad. Well the Noel forums had TWO general threads, full of nothing but shitposting and certain power users trolling everyone else. The matchup threads had info from both CT and CS1, it was madness. Even sub-communities need an authority figure, the Noel boards got straightened out as soon as I took the helm, and I was certainly not one of those "Iron Fist" type of guys.
  20. I find that to be an extremely bad idea. It will just contribute to the toxic "elitism" that people dislike about this place in general. It's basically saying "If you haven't gotten top 8 at NEC, your opinion is worthless" which is not the case. It's also going to make it so that very few people are taken seriously in general, not to mention the fact that not every character has a "top player" associated with them. Meaning a bunch of people who play those characters will be left out, or they will think that they shouldn't trust ANYTHING said by anyone in their board. You don't have to be a top player to know what you're talking about, you just have to know what you're talking about.
  21. The main problem with that kind of system, is that we're already kind of using it. Who decides what makes someone good with a character? Is it tourney results? If that's the case, then we wouldn't have had a Makoto mod for the last three years. Does the community get to decide? If so, who does? Would mods have to vouch for them? If that's the case, then that's already how we decide who gets a mod position. Someone who's active, and is also knowledgeable with the character. In the case of mods stepping down, usually the mod who's stepping down will request a specific user, and most of the time, they pick the standout from the community, someone willing to help, is active, and actually knows what he's talking about. Just as an example, the entire time I've been a mod, I've always had a replacement in mind should I step down. It's been three different people over the years, but I always make sure to take note of who I think would be good in the position in my absence. All three of them knew who they were too, they were like my appointed Right-Hand Man.
  22. This is basically my stance on it as well. I used to frequently post on the site, in every board I could. Nowadays, I only post in the Noel board, I make a new combo thread every time a new game comes out, and I reply to questions about the character on the rare occurrence that I get one. It's mainly because I feel like I'm not wanted here, and it's usually by the staff. Granted, it's been awhile since I've had a bad experience, but that was the whole point of sticking to my own board, avoiding the bullshit. It got to the point where coming to Dustloop wasn't fun anymore, but I still do at least the minimum expected of me, since I genuinely want to help new users, that was my goal when I first got the position, and I succeeded almost instantly in building a decent community within the Noel boards, yet I was told that what I was doing was awful. A moderator at the time even told me that everything I did for the site was making it worse. So now, I find it hard to care, but I'm still here because even if the Noel boards only get one post per month, I want to be there, to make sure it's addressed. Thing is though, you can't really address this problem easily. You can't just unmod a bunch of guys because they aren't nice, since they ARE good at what they do. Some of the staff that I dislike are actually extremely useful to the site.

  24. Post up your CP Noel videos to be critiqued. No footage is too scrubby, we're here to help after all. Even if you think you're the best Noel ever, feel free to post up, because you never know when someone may have a good idea, even if you're "better" than the one giving suggestions.
