HD Live Streaming & Recording :)

Yeah shame I couldn't get into the lobby and play to hopefully learn a few things but the stream itself was great. Even though most of the chat had "where's SF, this sucks because it isn't SF" type comments every few minutes there were some decent people in it, who I chatted with for a while plus I saw more than a few people who didn't seem to know much about BB appear interested in the game after seeing the stream which is a good thing. I hope Jay is satisfied with the results and tries to stream BB even if he does it just once a week for a couple of hours like he did today to start. Getting some pros on the stream would definitely be cool for a variety of reasons but it seems to me (and i'm new so I could be wrong) that a lot of the "pro" players on dustloop seem more turned off by online play than even the SF community is.
  2. Yeah I was the Yellow Hazama/Pink Ragna though I don't think I used ragna against you since you kept giving me Hazama pointers, Good Games man.

Nobody ever replied, and I checked the stream throughout the day and never saw SF get turned off so i'm assuming it actually didn't wind up happening.
  4. Stopped in on Sunday to play casuals and watch the tournaments, had a great time thanks to everybody for the matches, and a special thanks to the Hazama/Jin player (didn't catch your name dude) that played with me most of the day and gave me a ton of tips. Going to start coming to the friday night sessions a bit more so hopefully see most of you there.

Hey is this still planned for tonight? Was wondering what time I should try and be home for, to get in and support so hopefully Jay starts doing more of them.

I'd be in for tuesday night matches.
  7. Sounds good, now that project failure is going down to once a month I can try and make it out to these at least one friday. Yeah it was definitely dead I got there around 9:30 and hung outside for a bit to see if anybody else showed nice to know a scene is there so I can show up and hopefully actually learn how to play the game properly. What exactly is "poverty night" by the way?

    [CS1] Hazama Combo Thread

    Yeah I completely forgot to put that I do 5C, 2C after 214D~C, my bad. However going back to check the combo I guess I'm supposed to 4D~A then 623D not just 4D~623D. So it should be 5B > 3C > 214D~C > 5C > 2C > 4D~A > 623D > 2B > 5C > 2C > 4D~D > j.214B# right? Do I wait until they float a bit again after the 4D~A before 623D like when you do 6D~A, 4D~A, 623D on the bigger characters?
  9. Hey guys how often do most of you actually head up to battlegrounds? I'm usually busy on friday but last night I tried going up there and only saw around 5 people, most of them playing super and a couple guys playing melty. I'm interested in getting better at Blazblue but the CT scene seems super dead and this is the only place I know where decent people might be playing regularly.

    [CS1] Hazama Combo Thread

Is there a specific height requirement needed to catch an opponent with a 2B after putting them in the corner with 623D? Off of a throw or a Houtenjin I have no problem picking them back up with 2B but when I land a 3C, 214D~C 4D~623D I can almost never land the 2B in time.

    Explanation on techs?

Thanks a lot guys! all this information was really useful and I'm seeing some improvement in my teching ability. I'm still getting punished a lot but I have a feeling this will get better in time. Another question if I may, that I can give a specific example on that may further help me to understand and improve my when/where/what knowledge when it comes to teching. I play a noel fairly regularly who attempts the Haida loop but screws it up a lot and blue beats, however a lot of the time after the blue beat I'll tech and it seems to create some kind of inadvertent frame trap, where I'm hit the moment I finish my tech. What are some potential ways to avoid this scenario when teching? Right now if I'm playing hazama with 50 heat I will Houtenjin or Inferno Divider if I'm ragna as soon as I tech which typically always wins, I feel I should just be improving my ability to tech out of situations at least safely into a guard and like Phoeniks said use it when they get overly aggresive but I tend to do it everytime and against better people I'm sure i'd get punished.

    [CS2] Ragna General Discussion

Hey guys, trying to step up my scrub ragna game and had a couple combo questions, I looked in the combo thread for what people are calling the GH loop but I couldn't find it listed anywhere as to what it exactly is (could just be blind though). Also I've been spending the last few days practicing the BE loop that is listed in the combo page (the one for 4010 damage) I'm having a really hard time with three things. Mostly I always seem to miss the 5C after 5D (DC), i'm sure the timing is strict and it seems like a hard combo in general (at least for a scrub like me) but just seeing if there were any tips for landing that hit more cleanly. Secondly I'm messing up the SJC a lot I either get a regular JC or for some reason I wind up doing a 6C on the ground instead of jumping at all, my inputs however definitely say i'm doing either a 123-789 motion? Finally if I do manage to get the first Belial off in the combo (I'd say this is about 30% in training and 5% in match and a big fat 0% online) I will often miss the 6D, J.D followup, it almost seems to me like ragna just doesn't recover in time for it to not bluebeat. Also since this is already longwinded enough I guess I can ask, is this combo practical midmatch matches I watch seem to do variations of it of somekind? If not what are the other ways of landing BE loop? Before attempting this combo I usually did 5B, 5C, 2C 214A, RC, 6A BE loop, but not only was I was wasting 50 meter on it, even getting the whole combo was netting me under or just over 3000 damage. Thanks for the help guys.

    Explanation on techs?

To start off I will say I am pretty much a beginner, this is my first Blazblue but I'm not a total 'scrub'. One of the main problems I seem to encounter when playing is doing techs either the wrong way or the wrong time. So I just had a few questions and was hoping maybe a couple of the better players could just give me a few explanations for me to learn from. 1. How teching works? (by this I mean is there certain specific frame information I should be keeping in mind and not durrrrr how's do I tech guys!) 2. Different kinds of teching? (when on a general basis is it appropriate to use a certain type of tech, neutral tech, back tech, forward tech) As an example I typically always try and back tech and around 50% of the time I wind up eating a combo before my tech is complete, so I assume one should use different types of techs at different times. 3. What to do immediately after teching? To go with the above, at the moment, I barrier guard as soon as I tech so I am blocking as soon as I can (tutorial advice haha) but what do a lot of you guys do? Are there other options you can go for like in CvS2? I really appreciate any help guys, as I think this is one of the major things holding me back from leveling up in the game.

    [CS1] Hazama Gameplay Discusson

I can't say for sure because my timing is far from perfect but there definitely seems to be lag in almost every match I play. Sometimes it's super noticeable, as in during j.214B# you'll actually see hazama throwing out his knife at a much slower pace (which usually results in me dropping the second set) and other times it just feels like the game speed or something is just a tiny bit behind and I either drop things I normally never do or most of the time the opponent seems to be able to tech earlier than they should be which causes me to drop combos, I have to play a lot harder online than I do when I just play some offline casuals due to all my dropped combos.

    [CS1] Hazama vs. Iron Tager

I'm having a lot of trouble with a super spammy tager and was hoping to get some tips. Essentially all this tager does is spam 2D or sledges, and I mean over and over and over as soon as I leave the ground to try and start snake pressure. He repeats the spam until he connects and then hits his BnB for about a third of Hazama's life, the problem I have is since these moves seem to have super armor to snakes I can't ever land a single hit on him when he is spamming. I've tried baiting it out and then punishing, but during a punish since he doesn't care about damage since he has so much health he is just spinning 360's hoping for a throw counter, which he tends to get a lot. I know I'm new to the game and it's mechanics but this matchup (or more specifically his playstyle) just aggravates me to no end since it seems he just has to get lucky a few times vs me having to put in a ton of work to try and win. I've tried getting in early landing a quick BnB and then running the whole match, but it seems at some point I wind up with NP and then if tager catches me I'm really screwed. Any tips for a new player on how to stop some BS nonsense that would probably never work against anybody with even a little skill?
