  1. Yeah, except people are saying things like "Did you forget that we had fanservice characters in CT?" I think you are giving people too much credit here. There is clear pushback in this thread against the idea that this character is yet another dumb fanservice design, visually. (Nothing here has anything to do with gameplay that we know nothing about yet.)
  2. Indifferent to this character, and I agree, her visual design looks like crap and stupid fanservice. And to all of you people who say "But...but... there are other fanservice characters in the game!" that doesn't mean we need/want/benefit from MORE. I would be DELIGHTED if Makoto put on a goddamn jacket, and that's not going to happen. But that doesn't mean I don't hope that new designs are less awful. Remember: Just because you've been punched in the face before doesn't mean you aren't allowed to complain when someone punches you in the face. Jeez.
  3. Lots of people DID say that. It's a legitimate complaint. Heck, Arc Sys themselves has made the joke. Fortunately, however, Order Sol isn't IN this game. :P

    [CF] Tsubaki Video Thread

Cool; Sorry, I haven't been stepping up and posting video links to Japan stuff from Jourdal etc either.
  5. Did you read the 2nd paragraph? :P That said, the combination of Heat Up and Lock On is like Chocolate and Spaghetti - they're both good ideas, but they make a weird combination and aren't really related in any way. The fact that Bullet has a drive that allows her to move and attack is clever, tying it to a knockoff charge mechanic, not so much. Also, sorry, but I don't think you know very much about Tsubaki. There are plenty of combos for her that give charge as you go.
  6. Right. You get "charges" by either doing something risky in neutral (afterburner) or doing specific combos that allow you to gain it, and then you spend those "charges" to get what are essentially better versions of your special moves. I don't see any similarity there at all. :P Look, I'm not saying the characters aren't different, and Bullet's "lock on" stuff (when used as something more than a combo part) is pretty interesting, but the heat up stuff? C'mon. I swear the only reason they didn't give her a gauge for her heat levels (instead deciding to make you/your opponent depend on being able to tell the difference between "orange" and "darker orange") is to help conceal how much of a ripoff it is. :P
  7. It sounds like her drive means: A) You do a sword move (Probably with D?) and a Crest appears (I'm imagining these as actual visible things on the playing field, but who knows) B) You do something, and the Crest does an "attack" of sorts (and is probably consumed in the process). I can see this being useful for combos but also for space control. If my reading is right, it's not like Bullet's system at all. (P.S. Bullet's Heat Up is just a bad rip off of Tsubaki's drive. :P)
  8. BB has a history of completing the English battle voices (and battle voices only) prior to the Japan release because the game needs to have them to be able to play with someone who selects them in another region later. Which I've always felt was silly, but that might be what you are thinking of?
  9. 3 months isn't bad AT ALL for a BB release.
  10. No, really, the book doesn't float out in front of her on 6B until she's already hitting you: http://www.dustloop.com/guides/bbcse/hitbox/tsubaki/6B.html :P
  11. Sure. So it doesn't matter in that case. Doesn't invalidate anything I said though, really. Though actually, you've got a textbook case of an example that PROVES my point. 14 frames isn't that much under average human reaction time for a visual stimulus (.23 seconds for Bad Moon vs .25 for average human reactions). But things like jump startup are basically unseeable, so you don't get to start reacting until it's too late, because by the time there's actually a visual cue to react to, you've probably got more like 9 frames to react in. Also, The book is the most obviously different part about those animations. It floats right out in front of her when she does 6A.
  12. But it's not that simple. Does she transform into a giant moon at frame 1, or frame 17? A move can have 30 frames of startup and if the first 29 of them look like your character's idle animation, or like a completely different attack, you're not gonna block it much. That's the thing. WHEN the visual cue becomes obvious is more important than how fast the startup is, because it effectively dictates when the startup "starts". You can't start reacting until you've recognized that there is something to react TO.
  13. I think some people process it differently - maybe they cue off the sound effect or have a particular eye for the visuals or something, because this isn't the first time I've heard someone say it's easy to block. And some people claim that Tsubaki 6A and 6B look similar, while I don't think they look the same at all, so... I think different people look at different things.
  14. I can count the number of times I've blocked Gauntlet Hades (Discounting hard reads where I didn't react and just went "yeah, he's gonna GH now") in online play on one hand. Tsuhammer is only a little bit slower and I'm not convinced the startup animation is as noticeable. Or to put it another way: People get hit by the damn thing offline all the time. Now add 5 frames of lag. People are gonna rage.
  15. It's not all she needed, but it's also not all she got. Other changes include: Generally faster charge rate in neutral, so more charges to do things with 6B is faster now, so 5B > 6B works and allows confirms that otherwise weren't possible 2B is faster now, so it's not longer jokesville and she actually has a semi decent low. (Seriously, 13 frames on that hilariously short 2B? When other characters have 2B that reach forever, low profile, and are 8 frames?) 3CC combos without meter or FC. Since she has a really good 'neutral' overdrive (as opposed to one that you just pop to do a combo) she benefits from being able to use it more. Average damage up I suspect there are other things in there as well. And that's all just ignoring why her new special is so important for her. It's basically plus on block Gauntlet Hades, so it has the following uses: Overhead anytime you can special cancel Moves her FORWARD, therefore helping to mitigate the "LOL, I'll just barrier and you'll be out of range in three hits" problem. High hitbox, which means that even if you try to chicken block out, it connects and pushes you back down to the ground, which helps with her problem of people jumping out of pressure. Plus on block, so pressure reset - even the chargeless version is +1, D version is... +3? Dunno. Leads into solid damage, pretty much all the time. B version goes into 2.7k chargeless, D version is more than 3k. My prediction is that Tsubaki will RULE netplay because no one will be able to deal with the new special. ;P
  16. This picture doesn't depict the size of the gap between high and low tier. You've got the whole graph, so you "zoom in" until your highest tier is at the top and your lowest tier is at the bottom. It'd be useless if you just said "Yeah, the tiers are close in this game" and smooshed all 30-odd pictures on top of each other in the middle. Honestly, tier lists in general are a pretty bad way of representing the "tier gap" because most people just do like "S,A,B,C, Trash" or something. Which doesn't really tell you anything, since they use the same scale for most games. But anyway, as usual, aside from a few outliers like Carl and, apparently, Kagura(?) we see that most of the characters are in a big clump and that there's very little agreement on who is amazing and who is not.
  17. Sounds like the same horseshit that surrounded CPE when it came out and Galileo was all "This game sucks, I QUIT!" and then it went on to actually be extremely popular and well received. I don't read Japanese though, so I can't tell you what those folks are saying on twitter. I CAN tell you that so far, I have yet to see anything remotely like a tier list for this game except for dumb "this game has been out for like two weeks, here are my impressions" stuff. If the balance is so bad, who's top tier? (Other than Nine. F- Nine. Okay and Carl.) Who's bad except Terumi? (He doesn't count, he deserves it.)
  18. That's the theory. If it doesn't pan out, then you can tell all the people who complain about there being too many Extend releases to piss off, so it's a win either way.
  19. Okay, I have no idea why you've spent your last 5 posts complaining and doomsaying then.
  20. Yeah, gonna be honest, I'm super tired of yearly-ish updates, as much for the "Well, I'm just gonna wait for the next version before starting to play..." factor as anything else, so if this game is actually stable for a bit, so much the better.
  21. A) I don't remember that B) Mori isn't actually super important to the game So...yeah. Not super deeply worried, frankly.
  22. Yeah, I'm actually LIKING the possibility of this thing as a round ender. The "how low does my health need to be" question was mostly "what should I set it to in training mode while I try to learn this?" Not TECHNICALLY unburstable, I suspect, but the window is small - basically, after they've been hit with the crush trigger but before your OD animation starts.
  23. Don't be silly. If Bloodstained "3-D model based" SO IS BB - have you ever read about the process they use to create the sprites? PS3 generation seems pretty irrelevant, since this is an arcade title first. Story is horsecrap. :P If you seriously think Arcsys is going to let BB go fallow, you are nuts.
  24. As long as BB keeps making money, they're not gonna end it. Simple as that. And it's still making money. All this "but...but... they could stop making it!" stuff is nonsense. They COULD. They could also decide that they want to fire their whole art department and have all graphics just be stick figures. But they won't, because it would be dumb. :P I agree that ASW has very poor planning regarding release dates, however.
  25. I assume that ALSO needs low health?
