    [Xrd] Axl Combo Science Thread

To be clear, the 6H-5K link I mentioned above applies to non-meaty situations and is character specific. Meaning it can function as an actual mix-up! It won't work though if there's some distance between Axl and the opponent, as it needs to hit relatively deep. It's best used after a blocked c.S with the opponent crouching, anticipating the 2D. As you guys all know, Axl really lacks in the mix-up department. So having this option (at least for some match ups) is amazing in my opinion! Mix-up route: 2K, c.S, 2D, Rensen (on crouching opponent) 2K, c.S, 6H, 5K, 2D, Rensen 2K, throw 2K, c.S, 63214S 2K, c.S, command throw It's also great damage-wise, as the 6H does not prorate as much (if at all, need confirmation of this). With the characters I've tested it on, it leads to roughly 1/3 to 1/2 damage. --- The meaty 6H on the other hand, works against all characters whether they're standing or crouching, but the timing very strict. For an opponent standing getting up, the visual cue that you landed it right is when they hunch forward during hitstun (normal hitstun of 6H is them leaning backward).

Did you guys know that a 6H-5K link works on specific characters? I was practicing the 6H meaty when I stumbled upon this. Works on the ff: Sin, Sol, Millia, Faust, Chipp, Elphelt, Venom, Zato I find this pretty amazing actually, gives Axl a tensionless overhead combo against some of the cast. It's also pretty damaging. The ff combo works for instance: (on Sol) 6H, 5K, 2D, Rensen, 8, RC, Sparrowhawk, P, K, S, K, S, K. Visually you'll know it's linkable when you see Axl hit "deeper" with his 6H. It's quite subtle. The meaty version of this works on all characters of course.

Based on the match vids, the biggest buff to Axl imo is the earlier input of the [8] after rensen. It's makes rensen safer to throw out as the follow up would hit dash ins.

I agree. If you play him more defensively than your average gg char and learn to pick your spots when you start to get aggressive, then he's pretty decent. It's all about controlling their ground approach and catching their jump in.

Great info. Just getting more into the metagame aspect actually. Usually I see IADs or jump ins or a dash-in low after a blocked f.S, the latter less likely as it's a riskier move.

Got it. So it's about leaving a gap after c.S into the different options you mentioned as the frame trap. What's a good follow up after blocked f.S though? My initial thought is a rensen, 6H, or 2H. Then restart pressure. 6H would be the best option though out if the 3 imo as a good CH fish.

What I do with Axl, is to try to control space with the 5p, which prevents IAD and some jumping, to which their option is more to dash in, which I then use rensen coupled with 2p or 2h. Then j.s to keep them pinned. When I got the opening I try to rush down and land a simple mix up (i.e. 5k, 5d or 5k, 2d). c.S is a great gatling and I'd love to use it more as it leads to mix up options. But yeah, so far I've found only occasional opportunities to use it. Playing a more defensive game with Axl and only being selectively aggressive works for me.

So f.S is his best frametrap set up? I don't see how it can lead to a c.S into mix up given the range of the f.S. Or is the 3p the trap for the f.S?

Yeah dapat i penalize yung mga nag foforfeit ng laro. It ruins the integrity of a competition. Imagine mo kung yung mga sports leagues may ganun, kung susuko yung for instance, a bottom-feeder team (like the Cavs) against a team na defending champion (like the Lakers). Btw the Cavs beat the Lakers 1 game out of 2 in this latest season if I'm not mistaken. Btw editing my comment since I should not be using "bakla" as a derogatory term. It's politically incorrect guys!!!

I suggest na gumawa tayo ng test bracket based on location seedings... try lang ni Allan before the tourney (preferably ASAP) para lang makita ng mga tao kung paano sya nag wowork. Magandang idea din ang location seeding... aside sa lahat ng sinabi ni bert and everyone else about experiencing new opponents in a tourney setting, pwede din sya lagyan ng twist. For instance, individual competition sya, but we can add the points of each player from each location and come up with team points! In that case, aside from individual performances, ma gagauge din ang team performances! Ang fun di ba! Ang peg dito is like F1 racing kung saan may driver's point's and constructor's points. Ang caveat lang naman dun is that gaya ng sinabi ni Chase, kelangan equal ang number of team members. No problem naman yun kasi pwede natin i-even out yung teams at i distribute sa mga mas konti yung mga madadami, just for the tourney's sake. EDIT: Btw LOSER yung nag foforfeit ng match. Wag naman ganun.

Actually Duqs and I discussed the format over ym... Di feasible yung round robin with more than 4 players in a group/pool. We have a new format in mind but we just need to iron out some of the details. We'll discuss it again and then finalize and let you guys know .
