    Slayer AC match vids

Haha nice vid. Round 1: -Ok you pretty much just buttrape HoS, not much to say. Good job on the combos, my only suggestion would be to learn the sj.HS combos to maximize damage in the corner. Round 2: -Your Slayer is at the point where we can start being really picky because there isn't much else to point out. -Two chances in the middle of the match you missed a link after the 5K -> 2K, those could've been turned into knockdowns or big damage combos. -I saw you try to mix up the oki sometimes - that's good! Try just using the Dandy HS overhead instead of the Dandy S (whiff or not) once in a while...it's pretty good for conditioning into silly Dandy mixups (empty Dandy -> low, empty K Dandy -> throw, etc.) But otherwise, good job 2King after the Dandy S. -Also, beware of over-dandying. If you're too close you'll be thrown on wake up. -Otherwise, I can't really point out much more. Keep up the good work. Match ended rather quickly, HoS player should probably learn to block low :P Try to show us matches where you're struggling instead of just owning. I know everyone wants to show how ownage they are, but HoS is one of Slayer's better matchups and you destroying him in two combos each time is something we're used to seeing. But if that was your intention (I dunno if you were even asking for critics in the beginning lol) then by all means, let us laugh at how ridiculous Slayer is some more. Also, if you have any more match vids against people without an SRK that'd be awesome. I'd like to see how good your mixup and oki is without the fear of Storm Viper.

I've always found it disadvantageous to be at fullscreen as Slayer. Sure you can have the CH dot up your sleeve, but I mean characters like Axl can zone you with his pokes and Johnny can zone you with Mist Finers (to a lesser extent). Of course, I don't condone rushing down unless your opponent is already scared, as Slayer has poor ways to close distance. If your opponent is still on the offense, just block a lot and wait for AA and BBU opportunities.

Oh yea, my bad. I just threw up random examples for TKing without even thinking. EDIT: as for undertow...I don't see it around often. It's kinda cool to throw out once in a while, it kicks ass in the mirror, it hella cranks guard meter, the animation covers your next move, but it's still slow, awkward, and short-ranged.

    Slayer AC Combos

I apologize if this has been asked before. I'm having trouble doing the Kami chan aircombo cause the timing is a bit weird. I think it goes something like: launch -> 5HS -> sj.HS -> j.D -> j.2K -> j.K (land) -> 5K -> j.K -> j.2K etc etc. The difficult part is the whole sj.HS -> j.D - j.2K part....any tips to help connect those better? Also, what property characters does this combo work on? Also, since I haven't really done it successfully (more like by fluke once in a while) so I can't really tell, but is the damage worth the extra effort?

I only watched a few of the vids, but I can offer you a few suggestions: -Less random BBU. I see you 2H->BBUing a lot while your opponent is blocking. Against better players, you will lose half your life for doing that. -Work on links more. I see you doing your 2K->2S->2D combo, except the 2D doesn't always connect. Make sure it does. -After a Crosswise Heel, you can 5HS->j.2K into a flipkick combo instead of just iad j.D. -Less standing around. I see you standing at fullscreen sometimes. Try to be in their face mixing it up. You had the Johnny scared shittless, throwing him like three times in a row. Once your opponent is afraid, unleash your mixup! Go for simple 6K, 2K, 2S mixup. If one hits, link it into a knockdown and repeat! -More anti-air. I saw a lot of anti-air opportunities slip past you. Learn to utilize 5P, 2S, and 6P to catch airborne fools into free 50% combos. Otherwise, I couldn't pinpoint many more faults. Seems like you know what you're doing overall, just keep working on it and you'll become a beast in no time

What? (Sorry, that was a bit confusing.) TK input involves the use of 7 and 9. When bdc biting, you do a 663214"7", just like if you were bdc mappa - 66236"9". Do you even need to bdc undertow and dot? Honestly, the advantages of bdcing are very subtle...I would work on Slayer's other aspects before dabbling in stuff like this.

You usually want to 5HS after a BBU to get the ground bounce. Cancel the 5H into an IAD and then j.D right away. It might take you a few tries to get, but it'll soon become second nature. Once you get the timing down, you can start doing 5H -> iad j.D -> j.2K -> into shenanigans. Remember to practice your 5HS after BBU too, that timing is actually hard whereas IADing after it is just getting used to doing the motion.

Well the reason there's so little information on Crosswise is because the Japanese steer clear of it haha. I've seen it rarely used. If they are too high then I go ahead and just j.K to get them.

The 2K after the j.D is always tough because of the height. As Zaido says, you have to do it at max height (and sometimes you can't even connect it then). Also know that you can 5HS or BBU after Crosswise Heel against most character for an easier setup. Something like... Crosswise Heel -> 5HS -> j.2K -> j.K -> [jc] j.S -> j.2K -> j.D ...etc, depends on height.

The difference between a link and a gattling doesn't have anything to do with whether it goes into itself or another move. A link has a specific time frame that you must execute a particular follow up move. A gattling can be inputted in quick succession without worry about timing. EDIT: of course Johnny beats me to the punch. His post is more specific anyways T.T

FLJ is pretty meh in AC. It used to be the prime combo finisher back in Slash, but now that we get guaranteed KD's off j.D there's really no point. A lot of what I see is it used as A ) a way to move across the screen quickly (IAD then cancel really quickly into FLJ to get cover a large horizontal distance really quickly) B ) a jump-in crossup tool that may or may not lead into an aircombo depending on the angle it hits C ) just as jump in pressure - a lot of people don't expect the multiple hits of FLJ so go ahead and dash in with a j.D-FLJ. I'm pretty sure it's safe, but I don't use it very often so don't quote me on it. S Dandy Step is useful if used sparingly. It's easily punishable and easily seen (especially if you do it too often). Once in a while you can use it as surprise oki and I have nailed quite a few people with it that way (and it's usually an ex Pilebunker). Otherwise, I rarely ever use that move...it just screams "PUNISH ME PLEASE!"

As mentioned by Neophos, practice makes links happen. I cannot emphasize this point enough. At first it might seem a daunting task to master the timing for all the links, but don't stress about it. As you spend more time with Slayer, you'll gradually become accustomed to the timing. One of the most important links to have down is obviously 2K-2HS and 2K-2D. Most normals that connect can link into either of these options, scoring you big damage or a knockdown, respectively. My visual cue for linking the 2K to the following moves is to watch Slayer's leg. At the very moment he fully extends his leg and is ABOUT to retract is when the next move should come out. But yea, once again, practice practice practice!!!

    Slayer AC strats

It all depends on how scared your opponent is. If your opponent is scared, you can start using your d-step throw / bite mixups. If your opponent is well-seasoned and not scared, he'll probably punish you for d-stepping too much. If your opponent isn't so good, he'll probably eat d-step mixups. Honestly though, d-step should be avoided if possible. Even as an oki tool, it becomes quite predictable. However, using it in moderation is absolutely fine, whether it's to test the waters with dandy S, punish with pilebunker, or catch some airborne-happy folks with dandy K.
