  1. ^That. Sol's also pretty obvious with what he's trying to do, so you kinda need to vary your approaches and fake people out a lot. If you just keep running in and attacking or airdashing in honestly you'll get poked by the longer normals most of the cast has. Basic examples would be faking out your approach by running up and airdashing away, or doing neutral jump j.p before airdashing or double jumping forward. Gunflame YRC is also huge and ridiculous for helping you approach safely. Learn it and love it when it opens up a million new options for you.

  2. I didn't mean for it to sound that way, I know Ghaleon's all about the old-school stuff. My bad? The "if anything" was simply in reference to "we need people who want to play these games if they're gonna be played" and so far there hasn't been a huge response from the community just yet voicing interest. We've got like 10 people interested in either game, and half of those still aren't confirmed to be coming.

  3. Does AG not reduce the chip enough?

It might if the Akuma had lvl 1 or 2 X-Factor, or if I used characters with decent health (using Zero/Dormammu/Wolverine) but even with constant AG through the beams they just eat my guys alive. When I'm sitting there like a buffoon blocking 3-4 straight it only gets worse. Pretty shameful, really.

  4. Wow...just got annihilated by a really good Chun player. Anyone have advice for handling her psychotic rushdown? All I ever really managed was using special on the ground to anti-air her, but that never really lead to solid damage and she was back on me before I could even think.

  5. Just climbed back into training mode with Sol for the first time in forever. Wondering if anyone has tips for mastering SW loops off a BR RC? On some characters I can be pretty successful landing a few reps, but on others it's much more difficult. Definitely feeling rusty right now...too much Marvel... :-/

  6. Got to play the demo with a friend yesterday, and it really improved my opinion of the game. Some stuff still feels weird, and the general gameplay is a bit clunkier than I'm used to, but it was really fun punishing blocked projectiles with an enhanced Shadow Kick. Cage is somehow my favorite character to use right now.

Considerably excited for the full game now, and while it still doesn't look to be a SUPERB game, it's definitely a lot of fun and a drastic improvement over garbage like Deception and Armageddon.

  7. I don't think anyone denies that Sentinel is a good character. Nini's post sums up what's great about him, and due to the nature of the game, why not throw Sent on your team? If nothing else he has a really nice assist.

The point a lot of people are trying to make, however, is that Sentinel was never so broken or OPed that he needed this kind of random patch to be fixed. Players with Sentinel on their team aren't winning big tournaments, and a LOT has been done by top (and even not-quite-top) players to "expose" Sentinel, if you will. He's a good character, no question, he just isn't (and wasn't) overpowered.

  8. It should more or less ensure that, you're right. It's just the way they did it that bothers me. Like I and plenty others have said, it's knee-jerky and lazy. Any patch that does more than fix bugs or glitches at this stage in the game is going to feel rushed/needless to a lot of people.

Marvel 2 went a decade without any updates or revisions (right?) and Marvel 3 has been out a month and Capcom is already changing things; drastically in the case of Sentinel. It's a little out of nowhere, and just isn't all that necessary outside of bug fixes.

  9. It's just a very large nerf, and it seems like a "lazy" fix to me. Instead of really looking at what's making people bitch about Sentinel (he can kill an entire team in about 15 seconds with the right conditions and has normals that do chip damage!) Capcom just said "Oh fuck it, we'll just make a giant robot have comparable health to a small robot".

Plus, issues with Sentinel vary from person to person. I didn't think he was that terrible to play against; Phoenix feels waaaay cheaper to me. Others would probably disagree.

  10. I know he's largely outshined, maybe even made obsolete, by Akuma, but does anybody have any tips for getting in with Ryu? I've been messing around with him here and there and like using him for some weird-ass reason. Against a lot of characters I can get tons of mileage off of spamming Hadoken, but once beams get brought out I quickly crumble as I try to switch over to rushdown offense after my wimpy fireballs are destroyed. What's a karate man to do!?

  11. I played around in single player the other day with Scorpion. I dunno.

Right now it feels like Mortal Kombat to me. If you can still go back and enjoy MK2 or UMK3 on some level, you'll enjoy this. Maybe if I actually learn the game it'll be more enjoyable, but for now I'm feeling an overwhelming "Eh." for the whole deal.
