  1. As somebody who still plays the game. The reason this site seems dead because people who actually are playing the game have moved on. It's still pretty active.

Maybe if y'all spent less time on this site bitching and moaning about what isn't there and played the game, you might (gasp) enjoy it?

But by all means, go on complaining about Jubei, dubs, or whatever if it helps you sleep at night. I'll be actually playing the game.

  2. New game means a new combo thread. We're going to be doing things a bit differently this time however. With the advent of new applications like Evernote, Twitter, and Discord overtaking the Internet, I thought it'd be appropriate to do the same. So this thread will just be a header to introduce people to the combo theory of CF and some beginner/challenge mode combos to get people comfortable. After getting comfortable with those, it's recommended to use the combo evernote composed by yours truly and "The_undercover_beret" as it covers far more practical combos.

So as in previous games, Hakumen's combos are primarily by the Magatama count; broadly speaking, "More Magatama used = Higher combo potential", in other words you get far more for using more Magatama per combo. However, you don't want to overextend and leave yourself with nothing at the end of every combo, so meter management is essential at higher levels of play. You want to get as much out of your combos with the amount of Magatama used, whether it's for damage, corner carry, okizeme, etc etc.

Listed below are some practical BnB's to get a good idea, in addition to Challenge Mode:

Special thanks to KirbyMorph for recording these for us to use.

This is the combo Evernote, which is still being worked on and revamped as we speak, so please bare with us if some things are incomplete; Hakumen has a lot of combo potential that is continuously discovered, so it's impossible to list everything he can possibly do. Feel free to help and post your own combos and they will be added to the Evernote if it's deemed practical enough.

It's also highly recommended to join the Hakumen Discord and to follow various players on Twitter, as it is a simple and easy way to get in contact with us whenever we aren't on the forums. If you need a link, it's located here.

If nothing is said, developers will think it's fine to act a certain way. Sure, it might be less cringy or whatever if I simply said nothing, but it also accomplishes nothing if I just say nothing and go play something else. I don't truly care how tired or annoying my comments may be to you, because they are not for your sake, they're for mine and for other Jubei fans who also feel frustrated but keep themselves quiet because anyone speaking about wanting Jubei is immediately groaned at and shouted down for...what, wanting a highly regarded and highly requested character? Supporting Jubei in Blazblue has become some sort of weird taboo, so many people don't speak because they get jumped on from tons of random online posters just for wanting their character of choice. It's not as if he's some nobody character, like if someone were raging about Linhua not being in the roster. He's not only a heavily important character in the story, but he's the only member of the Six Heroes not playable in some manner.

And, I got into the series because of Calamity Trigger, I continued it for the sake of seeing Jubei playable however.

Also, who asked for the opinion of third place? (had to do it)

Its tiring because you're shitting up a thread for "NEWS AND GAMEPLAY" , this is not a "Bitch about X character until they add him". People come to this thread expecting some news and gameplay changes for the game, not to hear you complain how much Mori is the devil for not catering to you. If you want to go vent how much everything sucks without Jubei, either make a thread for it or go to another site.

I want to be able to read this thread without hearing constant bitching about the same thing for once.

I'm continuing with this series entirely in the hopes of playing Jubei at this point. I don't care what you find cringy or whatever, I care for what I started paying money for 7 years ago, and have constantly been dicked around on every occasion by this manchild Mori. This game does look fun, and I do have an interest in Hibiki (as irrelevant to the plot as he is) and Nine, and a slight interest in Es and Mai, but I was getting CF to bide my time for Extend. If there's no Extend, I want a guarantee Jubei will be DLC for this game, or i'm taking that money and putting it on something else and ASW will never see a cent from me again for any of their franchises.

    And nobody will miss you.

Seriously, why are you making a spectacle of this? If you feel like Arcsys are wronging you by not adding Jubei then just cancel your pre-order and go about your business instead of constantly parroting the same complaints constantly. Nearly every post from you in this thread is complaining about Jubei isn't in the game like its going to accomplish something. If he is literally the only reason you even got into the series at all and stuck with it for this long, then you honestly never gave much of a shit about it to begin with if you feel the need to constantly insult the developers simply for not catering to you.

I understand being upset that your favorite character isn't in the game and I understand venting that frustration, but that's just how it is. Either suck it up or go play something else because the constant bitching towards Mori about not adding Jubei has honestly gotten tiresome at this point.

If I can go back to it briefly, this is why rushing the US release without the dub is pointless. The game will always be imported by those who want it right away, and no one is double dipping for a version with only English subtitles when they might've prior for localization bonuses like battle voices.

We've already discussed the dub issue, you're repeating what has already been said.

    "Actually" care?

Guess one could be a fan of a game series for the wrong reasons.

The gameplay isn't going anywhere. Having it a few months earlier only benefits the EVO players who probably didn't need early practice to begin with.

You mean the players who don't live in Japan? Or have a Round 1 arcade near their neighborhoods? Or just wanna play the game period?

Contrary to popular belief, not everybody who plays fighting games are competitors who want to spend hours practicing it and just wanna play the game for shits and ggiles. Not everybody also feels like importing and dealing with everything that entails.

People need to stop looking at this issue in purely a vacuum of "Dub fans who don't care about gameplay" vs. "Players who don't care about a dub" when its a lot more complicated than that.

When this game is dead in a few months I hope they're aware as to why.

Everyone will have moved on to Tekken 7 and will be waiting for the Extend version.

People who actually care about the game will continue to play it, dub be damned. Stop acting like this is going to be a major blow to the game's overall reception when only a subset of fans actually care about the dub.

What they're trying to portray as characters. In Izanami's example, she portrays a deity, or godliness (they even add a bit of flair with death). Nine portrays sorcery and magic. I can see that in their gameplay and character art. Right now I can't see what they're going for with Es and Mai. I hope that makes sense. It's like a concept I understand but have difficulty explaining haha.

Oh...I guess? I mean, if you really want to know about both characters, they both have series where they're the stars and central focus.

He means playstyle. How they play and what makes them different from the others and all that.

Doesn't that kinda go back into what I was saying about seeing them develop when they're fully released to the audience.

The problem I have with the latter two is that I don't know what theme they're going for. Izanami and Nine have some unique flair to them but Es and Mai feel somewhat generic to me. Es is probably a tier higher than Mai on the interest level simply because she can stomp your face in haha.

Maybe because there's very little footage of the former and none whatsoever for the latter.

We know the bare minimum on Es and Mai and will only truly discover what their capable of when the game is out and players develop them as time goes on.

So for now, all we can do is speculate based on what we know.

The obvious answer for me for your first question is "Because it doesn't actually work, or is extremely difficult and not reliable." Certainly, that's where the evidence seems to be pointing. It seems more convincing that your suggestion that they just aren't up to the task.

That said, I'm not really convinced you even maintain your offensive game here - I've seen too many instances of people baiting/avoiding the DP and then getting hit when they tried to reapply pressure. And in any event, how many other defensive options in the game merely "allow you to maintain your offensive game" if you bait them with the optimal solution?

In any event, a character who has both most-of-the-time-available DP, a unique movement option that can avoid a lot of stuff, and an invulnerable reversal super doesn't fit the picture of 'limited defensive options' in a game where there are characters that only have one of those. (See: Carl)

Its how those defensive options are structured and how they compare to everyone else's tho; like Nine not having a dash is already something of a disadvantage when 70% of the cast have a dash, and unlike like Valkenhayn or Hazama, she doesn't have a significant movement option to cover that. She's like Hakumen with okizeme lol.

It's up to ASW to make the other spells more useful (or the current strong one less useful).

It was not so obvious that a minority of her spells would overpower the others.

I'm never said the other spells aren't useful though, some are just better than others; its like if you got a pistol and a Shotgun, both obviously do significant damage but one of them is obviously better than the other. That's the situation here.

  12. I hope nobody really expected all twenty of her spells to be useful; I kinda knew there'd be one spell that was more practical than others and it would be abused to the ends to the ends of the earth. And lord and behold, it happened. I'm not shocked though, in a tournament setting, you find the most practical setup and abuse it until the opponent is dead. Its not exactly entertaining or flashy, but then that's what combo videos are for when we get the console release.

  13. 1 hour ago, Airk said:

All that said, if Nine's DP is so susceptible to option selects, why isn't everyone doing it?  It seems weird that if it can safe jabbed, that all the top tier Japanese players who are losing to her right now aren't doing that.  Right now, to me it seems better than a lot of DPs in the game since it is so difficult to get a punish on (Calling out a DP with with 2k jab combo is nothing like actually being able to punish it) , so calling Nine a character with "limited defensive options" just doesn't add up.

Until we get some honest to god frame data that proves otherwise, I'm going to maintain that she is too strong and only getting worse over time.

Because contrary to popular belief, the Japanese aren't perfect and they too will fall for things if they aren't paying attention, they piss, shit, and sleep just like the rest of us. :V A better question would be why do you think they aren't doing it?

You can't really punish her DP (very few characters actually can), but she's forced to use a stock for it and you don't actually lose your position and can maintain the offensive game. Punshing things isn't just about "block X and hit them to get damage", you have to look at the situation and the things surrounding it.
