  1. The old video thread had all its links ruined because of the Dustloop forums update.  Please post footage to this thread henceforth.  Also please have the link address hard coded somewhere in your post.  This way we won't lose them if for whatever reason our links get ruined again.  I'll get this thread looking spic and span once I get a little more time.  In the meanwhile, enjoy some additional footage.

  2. I like to simply discussions down to really basic parts.  Here are the main goals I see as we talk about a potential revamp

    1) Compiling information from all available sources - dustloop forums/wiki, twitter, youtube, nico, ask.fm, evernote writeups, spoken conversations, etc.
    2) Making that information organized and accessible
    3) Allowing mass participation
    4) Authenticating information
    5) Managing behavior - preventing shit throwing contests

A lot of these goals conflict with each other really badly, which is maybe why we have trouble coming up with solutions.

The wiki itself is supposed to be all authenticated information.  What does this leave the forums as?  Are they the talking shop that later gets put into the wiki?

  3. 5AA 236A 236236A (Bike Key, Firecracker, Dry Ice) 2A+B (Dry Ice hits) 214A/B

~2k, corner carry, bike oki, +Poison/Fear, -50 meter

Sadly, 214A+B doesn't seem to connect for a Rage reset.

building off this, at midscreen do 5AA > 236A (don't go through them) > 236236A > sweep (delay just slightly) > dry ice hits > run under the frozen opponent and get the bike key.  they're going to mash furiously to get out of the ice while the bike is getting ready

They mash out of the ice.  This is your chance for a reset.  Do 5A/2A, something to put them into block stun, wait for the bike, 22A as the bike comes and you go under them.  Then crossup 5A

The first combo does around 2100 damage, then add on whatever you get with the reset.

Here's another midscreen setup, but using 236236A+B.  Do 5AA > 236A > 236236A+B >5AA > sweep > red robot hits > j.B holding forward and spike them into the rage drink.  At this point, I'm wondering what the best followup would be and if we could make it DP proof.

  4. A few item drop super setups/resets.

    1) Item on Red rocket:  after corner combo, skip the missile and end the combo with j.B > item drop super.  If you time the super right, It will drop mystery food X on them giving them fear, poison, and mute.  Smart bomb will be placed right over them in the corner and the red rocket is set to go off.  This is probably the best setup I've found.  The board position here is so good and you're going to end up hitting them 3 out of 4 times.

    2) Item on dry ice:  Do corner combo doing 5C into 2C > ice. teddie screw through them and use the super once you go through them and they're in the corner.  Your persona has to disappear before you can item super, so the timing can be tricky.  Item super will drop vanish ball, the ninja robot, and the rage drink.  j.B on them once they tech will push them into the rage drink.  There's room to improve this setup and there's lots of potential to create new setups by using your other item path not set on vanish ball.

    3)  Item on pinwheel:  Really simple.  Pinwheel pushes them into the rage drink and then into the stereo that goes off.  It worked on bananaken and it can work for you

  5. Okusan confirmed some new names heading to Evo. Full list is under the cut: [collapse]Aguro (Narukami)

    Pet (Adachi)

    Okusan (Ken)

    Tahichi (Margaret, Yukari)

    Mokke (Yosuke)

    DIE-Chan (Rise)

    Mui (Aigis)

    Damosu (Adachi)

    Souji (Kuma)

    Yume (Aigis, 2.0 Marie?)

    wakabo (Mitsuru)

    purepure (Labrys)

    Koichi (Aigis)

    Domi (Akihiko)

    Setsuo (Aigis)

    JEO (S. Mitsuru)

    Hagiwara (Kuma)

    BLEED (Margaret)

    Uinyan (Rise)

    Cho (Ken)

[/collapse] If you watched KSB or A-Cho's recent 2v2, then some of these names should look very familiar! Which is good, as KSB gave us a chance to see some of these players playing 1.1 offline -- always helpful. Despite being confirmed initially, MAD later said that unless he won KSB, he would not be attending Evo, so I have removed him from the list; if anyone knows something more, please correct me.

As far as who's playing whom: Tahichi stated that he will use both Yukari and Margaret depending on the MUs he faces, while Okusan announced that he was switching to Ken roughly two months ago.

Ho-chan is also attending Evo but since he's living in the US now, I didn't include him as part of the Japanese team.

In other news, LK made a final 1.1 tier list. You can see the original on his blog. The final version (with reasoning) is here, with Twitter discussion flowing from the initial Tweet and a follow-up. Since 1.1 is what we'll be playing at Evo, this is all worth reading.

OMG, so many senpai, so much chance to be noticed.  I will have to work extra hard.

  6. Would rather say that it's better to go for 5AA>jump airturn>airdash jA like Souji does.

The small startup nerf on jA makes jB>jA only works at very specific spacings making it much easier to anticipate it. Airturn>airdash jA will however always work. It's still reactable though but so is IAD jB>jA anyway.

Also, quite often against people mashing DP, the DP will whiff or go through the back airdash invul allowing you to punish with a dash 2C FC.

I'm not certain of it, but I think the mixup for the iad j.B > j.A is slightly faster than the air turn j.A.  I could be mistaken though.  You're right about the specific spacing.  I try to use both mixups.

Dinotail, I've never had any problem converting that airturn j.A into 5A.  If you're not converting, then you're probably correct to assume the spacing is off.

  7. 2C beats fuzzy OS and has good reward. I don't think neutral is going to be really tough, you just have to play perfectly more often. I don't really think Teddie is that bad in 2.0, everyone else is just super strong. Why try to play perfectly in neutral when you can play a shadow char that has auto-pilot pressure?

Adding to what dinotail said, One of Teddie's key mixups is the 5AA > iad j.B > j.A > etc.  Opponents will read this and air throw you.  Occasionally putting in a 2C instead of the iad j.B will keep them honest and keep the threat of the j.B mixup real.

  8. Have a question with the basic corner combo (5AA5B sjC jB jA 5B 5C 2B jA etc)

What's the best way to time the jC? Sometimes it won't hit (is it a neutral super jump after 5B?)

Sometimes after the jC, they'll go under Teddie

Are you supposed to hold 5AA for all 15 hits?

Also, sometimes I see a Teddie do delay jA instead of jB jA, is that only because of the starter?

My recommendation is to do the combo MegaGrandTale listed in #4.  Off 5AA > 5B, do a regular jump j.C, then j.A as you fall, then bat.  You want as few hits of the j.A as possible to make the combo consistent.

Off grab in the corner though, continue using the super jump j.C route that you're used to.

  9. Anyone else have trouble w/the corner combo & jump cancels online?  I can do them in training, but even the slightest input lag throws me off online.  Yet sometimes I see people (such as wiredgod) do them!  2B >j.A is where things fall apart.  Also, after all this time, I'm not sure why SB Teddievision sometimes doesn't work.  I'm not persona broken, have the meter, and TVs aren't out, but I do a whiffed throw instead.  I've lost a few matches off that.  Hmm...

I can do that combo if there's not a lot of lag, but I still occasionally drop it online.  In the case of lag I do a simplified combo.  I prefer to delay the 2B as much as I possibly can without them teching.  Learning that timing and adjusting for lag just takes experience like Balguna said.

  10. I thought it would have made more sense to make all items disappear once teddie gets hit, but instead they opted to keep the cheapness while decreasing their power.  The nerf to ice is probably the one that bothers me the most because that item is mostly worthless now.

The mixup game I generally try to apply is 2A/throw/air backdash j.C.  If they start OSing, you can 2B > backdash on block.  A lot of the people I play are really good at stuffing j.B with air grab, so I use that more sparingly.  We might have to regularly reach into the gimmick bag to beat some of the higher tiers now, so that's something I'm probably going to be working on.

  11. Found this out a few weeks ago, and not sure why it took me so long, but you can buffer an additional item throw while the persona is on the screen and while the persona is still in the initial throw animation.  The timing of it is the same as if you would mash D three times, but just omit the second mash.  So its like D, ..., D.  The second item throw also gives the persona some projectile invulnerability.  IMO, there's not much reason not to do this unless you want to save a particular item for later.

  12. I've been posting in the Newbies Unite topic & joining in the Fri beginner's room (only Teddie main there, I think). Teddie's my best character, and I hope to improve with him.  I've done fighting games for many years, but haven't had much time put into this one yet.  Read a ton of posts on the site, including the Teddie section, and was wondering:

If I'm overwhelmed by the number of combos posted, are there a few key ones you'd suggest that I should know & can actually pull off?

I guess a sub or two is OK.  Maybe Labyrs.  I should ask the same thing in that section...

    Thanks!

I made an answer to this in the combo section because that's really where it belongs.  Teddie is a sort of overwhelming characters, but it's not b/c of the combos.  It's more because of keeping track of what items you're on for both 5D and 2D, as well as using those in spacing against each different character to create mixups.  That mixup game is strong, it just takes a lot of experience.

  13.

    Thanks!

Note before I begin, the following combos I'll give are not going to be consistent on online play, except 5AAA > sweep.

Key combos midscreen are 5AAA > Sweep.  Also, 5AAA> 9 > 236A > 236236[C]> dash > ]C[ is really important because of the corner carry it gives you to either side.  Teddie does significantly more damage in the corner.  Getting the j.236A in time might take some practice.

    In the corner, 5AA > 5B > j.C > j.A, land, 5B > 5C > 2B > j.A > j.236A > 236236[D] > sweep > ]D[ > j.B is your go to combo.  It also works off 2A, but prorates a bit harder.  The throw combo is similar but harder: Throw > 5B > sjc.C > j.B > j.A, land, 5B > 5C > 2B > j.A > j.236A > 236236[D] > sweep > ]D[ > j.B.  On this latter combo, you need to cancel the j.B into the j.A really quickly.  If you don't have 50 meter while doing these combos, do j.B instead of 236A.  Off that final j.B, try using j.C before landing to force the opponent to block on wakeup.  Alternately throw out an item when you land.

These are the main combos you really need and they might take practice.  You don't need a sub with Teddie.  He can beat every character, and he requires lots of playing experience.  Only tough matchups I see are Narukami and maybe Yosuke.  Everything else will be even or favorable for you.  If you feel like messing around with other characters for fun though, nothing wrong with that.

  14. It doesn't seem to have anywhere near that kind of recovery, but it was also 3 in the morning when I was playing him. Thanks!

It has a shorter active window then you're probably thinking. Try going to training mode, program teddie to DP and then jump to show when recovery ends. This will help with your timing. It's very punishable

  15. It took a while, but Teddie's wiki page is pretty much done; all that it needs are images of the new items and moves, and info for j.2C so it can get added to his move list. If people have feedback, feel free.

I'd suggest changing the "no real mixup" in the cons section to something like AoA is his only overhead.  Also mention his extensive throw range in the caption for throw
