[CF] Blazblue CENTRAL FICTION: News and Gameplay Discussion

It's not just combos though. When I first came here we actually had things like active match-up treads and guides on playing basic neutral with each character. That's what I'm really after, not combos. Those things are much, MUCH harder to learn by just watching youtube/niconico videos. I'd try addressing the problem myself, but I know I'm not a particularly great player, don't trust my experience to hold true at high level play, and I don't want what is here to be misinformation.

[CF] Blazblue CENTRAL FICTION: News and Gameplay Discussion

I agree, the inflated importance of discords is bothering me. I thought to pick up playing Bang again for the first time since Continuum Shift, only to find that both his forum and wiki entries for Central Fiction are utterly barren. I get that discord is great for asking people advice in real time, but stuff like combos and basic play advice ought to be posted HERE and on our wiki. How are new players supposed to know to go to the discords if the site itself (which they'll probably find first) seems dead? Hell, some of the discords need invites to even gain access to them, and that's an obnoxious barrier to entry.

Guilty Gear FAQ Thread - Ask your questions here!

The way the D-Pad connects to the controller is very poorly designed. The interior connects to the external Dpad not directly, but via a flimsy plastic stem. This stem breaks very easily under the type of strain playing fighters puts on controllers. If you're willing to spend extra money to mod it, you could take it apart and use the pieces to make a better pad. As is though, it's pretty shoddy.

Sol Combos, right here on DL: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/index.php?/topic/8267-xrd-sol-badguy-combo-thread-updated-12292014/ Challenge mode in game will teach you combos as well, but they may not be the best. Combos require practice in order to get them assigned to muscle memory. How long it takes varies person to person. Combos in GG are often distance, starter, and/or character specific. Doing combos in game, and properly confirming hits, is a skill you will need to acquire naturally through play (though certain training mode set-ups can help). Netplay is never a substitute for offline play, and depending on your connection quality certain combos may be very hard to do on netplay. If all else fails, learn a simple ground combo into knockdown, and a simple air combo into Volcanic Viper -> knockdown kick.

    Persona 4 Arena Q&A Thread

Probably because in Japan (where the developers are from) they're all 3 or 4 bar, where you can kinda get away with skipping intros. So it's not an issue worth addressing to them. I notice that when I do for some insane reason fight jp players, they never let the intros play despite the game chugging so hard. It's probably because they've never HAD to do it. Kinda wish they'd put out a message specifically for the NA version though.

So after a real bad day today, I finally struggled up to MASTER rank. I'm think I'm done with ranked for good, the constant loss of rank mentally outweighs earning and re-earning new ones. I get mad, play worse, and get angrier and angrier. It's not good for my health. MASTER sounds cool anyways, even if I did happen to luck into it. Proof in point, the mirror match against OmniSScythe I had yesterday, where I got steamrolled. Given that Omni is MASTER grade too, I'm probably going to have a miserable time if I fight anyone here who's supposedly "on my level" (getting beat down by Fluxwave on stream is another example). By the way Omni, I was serious when I asked for pointers. I'm pretty lost as to what to do with Minazuki in neutral, and when I ask most people just say "it's easy," but against good players I've no clue. GGs to anyone I fought in ranked and tournament today, but I must admit I'm mad salty about the omnipresent laggy Kanji army, dropping combos in tourney, and jumping into Adachi reset when I meant to block. See you all in the lobbies and player rooms from here on. So I guess I should add "Sorry" to anyone I got mad at, especially Atarax. IMO the bottom 5: Liz, Kanji, Junpei, Labrys, Yukiko. We do. I need the Yu XP (even if it is Shadow Yu). Dooby Please. (This is great lol)

This game really does seem to inspire a lot of salt. X character is OP, my character is garbage (I see this one more from Adachi and Akihiko players than from players of characters this actually makes sense for), etc. I'm getting tired of the complaining I'm subjected to for playing Minazuki, often for things that aren't even all that troublesome (ex. teleport at neutral, which I think is only useful to Minazuki in a small number of matchups). One of the more disturbing examples I saw last night was someone who threatened to torture someone's mother because they engaged in "spamming." Good games to everyone else.

This might explain why AoA seems so hard to block all of a sudden when I play people with a low number of bars. Lag and bad ping usually go together, but I can definitely see this being the real explanation. I had worse lag with a certain 1-bar than I've had with some of the 0 bars I've dared to play.

I'm actually pretty sure it has something to do slowing down after X matches played. Mine stopped going up so fast at ~730, while people with much lower winrates than myself told me they began slowing in the 600's. Evidently you made it to 770 before slowing.

Ranked is a joke. Scrubbed my way to SS, ~750 PSR, and 80% winrate. Now I pretty much never find anyone around my grade who isn't a 0 bar. How PSR works is super weird. You get tons of points (about 5-10 per match won) for beating anyone at all for like 100 matches, and then suddenly you crash to only getting like +/- 1 or 2 a fight fighting people around your PSR and/or grade. I did meet a few nice players in there though.

Mitsuru is the one character I have lower than a 50% winrate against. Fighting someone who actually has a longer 5A than mine screws with me hard.

    Persona 4 Arena Q&A Thread

Kanji is easy. AI gets wrecked by meaty command grab until some of them hit awakening (Boss Kanji is an exception sadly...). Once they hit awakening, you can bait any non air UB super by standing in front of them for a moment, then jumping and blocking the super in the air. Liz, on the other hand, is one of the harder ones. With enough time and determination though, you can do this. It's not matter of skill really, but one of time. Generally: You have continues. If you just want navigators and don't care diddly about your score or time, use them and bruteforce it. You're allowed to pause the game. Use it to ease the AI's mixup attempts, or spot places where you can DP etc. AI reads your inputs and is really skeezy. They also deal absurd damage off anything (a few can OHKO you depending on character). Stick to tactics that are either super safe or predictably screw with the AI. AI gets wrecked by most instant kills. If you can win the first match, odds are you can win the second easy. I'd even advise trying to keep your burst for the final round, so you can get two good chances at the IK. You need to use the normal mode versions to unlock navigators, shadows won't work. You'll probably need some perseverance to unlock navigators. Even if the matches all go well, it will take a long time thanks to absurd amounts of HP the bosses have. Here's some stuff on Boss Liz, who's the boss of 3/4 of the risky courses.

As or after Liz hits awakening, knock her down, then stand right next to her for a moment as she gets up, then jump. The AI will Ghastly Wail in response to you just standing there, even after you input the jump. Punish the whiff, repeat ad nausem until she dies. Occasionally she will use Mahamaon/Mamodoon or Diaharan instead. For the instant kills, she's programmed act a certain way after using them to abuse the IK. For diaharan, react to the flash and hit her with the fast move you possess. I beat her as Kanji and Minazuki that way.

GGs to everyone I played, especially that one really strong Liz. Further BGs to Hitoshura, for failing to realize holding back means block, and then ragequitting. EDIT: Got orange card today somehow, despite taking a ton of losses in the lobby.

GG's to anyone I fought last night. That guy got angry over Minazuki without even playing me. He saw me play one match and disbanded his entire room.

If you're looking for easy, there's no character easier than Minazuki. Super simple and effective gameplan, great buttons, good matchups, and braindead easy combos (the only ones that might take more than 10 minutes to pick up is the 25 meter 4AB -> 2A extension, and some of the combos involving specific heights into Tsukiyomi -> 2A).

    [P4AU] News & Gameplay Discussion

On the 236236 issue, I'm not having any problems with Minazuki or Adatchi. I am having trouble with Naoto. It's probably because I feel I need to do the input faster on Naoto, and so screw up the input. So, I hate to say it, but it's probably just an issue of needing to do better inputs.

That damage, unawakened, with 5A starter. Ends in poison. Every time I think I'm done with this character, I just get pulled back in.

If damage determined tier, I'd be playing a top tier character in Arena as opposed to bottom. Adachi gets a permanent 10% damage buff off his auto-combo super, and for all we know mini-ziodyne might be a grade-A oki tool. Yosuke isn't raking in the big ass damage every confirm, and he's undeniably strong. There's no way to make informed opinions until we start seeing actual play, so saying stuff like "this character can't be top tier" is super silly. People on this forum were wondering about Ramlethal's viability when she first released, and a few months later lo and behold she's absolutely frightening.

    The "Picking a Main" thread

Ragna has an excellent meterless DP, he has an alright standing overhead (24 frames) he can combo off of meterless, and he can do TK Gauntlet Hades for another overhead option. Jin has a super slow meterless DP, an amazing 25 meter DP, and a fast standing overhead (19 frames). Overhead leads to nothing w/o meter or CH though, and is punishable on any block, so normally you want to have 50 meter to rapid cancel it. For 25 meter Jin can TK j.214C, which leads to amazing result in the corner. It's slower than 6A (jump startup+22 frames), so you usually want to throw it somewhere unexpected or off a freeze reset. Needs additional meter to follow up away from the corner. Noel doesn't have a real DP, but she has funky invulnerable frames on her drives that can go through gaps in pressure. Slower (26 frame) standing overhead with fair reward. Mu-12 has a 22 frame standing overhead, and also has a legit reversal. Azrael has growler, which has crappy range for a DP, but it is still a DP. Azrael has several standing overheads, the fastest of which is quick for standing overheads (21 frames). He's also got dash through mix-up, easy IAD j.B crossups, and some more situational things like low airdash j.A and 3C RC air-dash j.A. Also, Terumi's meterless pressure is more about safe strings, frametraps, and throwing than high/low. You want to bait the opponent into either pressing a button at the wrong time, baiting them to reversal, or throwing overly respectful opponents. That is honestly how I play most of the time with Jin. With good conditioning you can sneak in j.2D and get hits with it. Also, given his insane meter gain on hit, once you do have 50 meter for rapid cancel shenanigans in mix-up, successful mixups pay for themselves (Like Heavymetalmixer suggests above).
