[CP] News & Gameplay Discussion (Old)

^^^ 1. If he's hitting you with blue beat combos, that means you could have teched. Look under the combo counter. When a combo blue beats, a little "no" symbol (circle with a slash through it, like on a no smoking sign) and a number will appear. That number is the hit you could have teched on. In BBCP you can simply hold a button to tech ASAP, in earlier iterations you have to press it on a frame you can tech (i.e., right before their next attack hits you). 2. Hakumen's counter super, Yukikaze, can activate on projectiles, but you'll still be able to move around since it only freezes you in hitstop if it catches a physical attack. If Hakumen is countering your projectiles, double jump out of the way and let him waste his meter. 3. Mu's j.C can definitely beat Hakumen's j.C cleanly. It has the range and is fast enough. If his j.C is beating yours, you're aren't throwing it out quickly enough.

    [CP] Hakumen Final Changes

Figured I'd compile Haku's changes for people who haven't followed the general thread by conveniently placing it in one location. This should also help weed out loketest changes that didn't make it into the final release. - Nearly all moves received proration/damage buffs, a few received proration/damage nerfs. See below for values. - Magatama auto gain buffed to approximately one mag per five seconds at neutral. Cooldown now applies to one mag specials; still 90F. - Hop speed increased. Dash cancel timing requires faster input. - New system mechanic: Overdrive. Greatly increases magatama auto gain, allows drives to be special cancelled, enhances Yukikaze's graphical effects. - New move/system mechanic: Crush Trigger. Large sword swipe, slow startup, costs two magatama. Instantly breaks guard if not barriered. Counts as a special move, so it can be special cancelled into. 100% P2, strong in combos. - New move, Agito (j.214A). Performs a downward kick in the air, costs one mag. Not overhead, but can cross up. Comboable on CH due to ground bounce. Can be performed during hops. - Zanshin greatly changed. All drives received proration buffs and may be special cancelled while in OD. Attack followups for all counters are blockable (Yukikaze excluded as it's still unblockable on catch). All drives received damage buffs and grant one magatama on successful catch, including any projectiles caught. All counters, except for 6D and Yukikaze, are uncomboable (all are comboable in OD). In addition: * 2D counters low/mid, 1F startup. * 6D counters high/mid, now has 10F startup, short recovery, highly buffed proration (45% > 80%), possible to combo without OD. * 5D catches high/mid, now chargeable (charge lengthens active frames at the cost of lengthening recovery). * j.D now has minimum height requirement, otherwise unchanged. - J.2A no longer has "pushback" effect; combos involving J.2A > air dash > J.2A no longer work. - 6B now comboable on CH. - 4C feint(!) by pressing A before active frames, works on both 4C and charge 4C. - 6C now fatals at all levels, forced at max charge even mid combo. - 3C now chainable from 2A. - j.C now wallsticks. - j.2C floats lower on air hit. - Forward throw now staggers. - Kishuu unchanged, confirmed to still have projectile invincibility (thanks eliram). - Renka first hit bonus prorate removed. - Hotaru's recovery now leaves Hakumen at an increased height from ground. - Tsubaki uncomboable (Not sure about this, needs confirmation). - Mugen now always drains at 3x speed, but can be neutralized by OD's extreme magatama gain. Crush trigger unavailable. SMP/combo rate changes need confirmation. Ending with Shippu or successful Yukikaze during OD immediately ends Mugen, but does not enact meter cooldown until OD has ended. New damage and proration values (Credit goes to itsme for finding these on JBBS): Character Combo Rate: 60% Name Base Damage/P1/P2 5A 350/90/77 5B 590/100/89 5C 1210/100/92 2A 300/100/77 2B 450/90/89 2C 1150/90/92 6A 620/80/89 6B 590x2/90/92 6C(1) 1500/100/94 6C(2) 1700/100/94 6C(max) 2000/100/94 4C 700/100/89 4C(max) 1600/100/94 3C 1200/90/92 JA 320/90/77 JB 590/90/89 JC 1300/90/92 J2A 780/90/70 J2C 1100/90/92 5D 1800/100/60 2D 1800/100/60 6D 1400/100/80 JD 2000/100/45 F. EVO Donation Poll update: GGAC+R is currently in 4th place! http://shoryuken.com/2013/01/13/evo-2013-donation-drive-standings-and-rule-update/ But here's the really interesting bit: more info can be found in that link, but basically, FiM will not be selected for the 8th official EVO game since it's unlikely to be ready by then and the developers don't want to rush it. Instead, the game that places second (assuming FiM places first) will be chosen. Guilt Gear is only $636.42 behind Melee, the current 2nd place holder. There is a very real possibility of Gear winning! EVERYONE DONATE

    [AC+R] News & Gameplay Discussion

I think the health increase was a smart move. Average combo damage in GG is probably 40-70% of a healthbar, and by increasing health, they were able to focus on mainly offering buffs while keeping nerfs to a minimum, with less worry of general damage trending towards being too high overall. shtkn, I believe it was posted on one of the guiltygearx.com +R change lists.
  8. Probably 5.5-4.5 Lambda's favor IMO due to Hakumen's mistakes being much easier to capitalize on than hers.

  9. I look for stuff to cut for easy orbs in order to gain screen real estate, breathing room, and a way to advance. J.2C on non-oki wheels, 4C/3C on spike chaser (depends on distance and whether I want a higher or lower orb). If I react to/read a 4D, I'm air dashing in and making her regret it, or maybe doing Yukikaze to switch places if needed. Up close, some of her strings are flimsy and ripe for IB counter or 6B over lows. My 3C is useful here as usual, but outside of that most of my pokes and offense initiators are asking to be CH'd. Kishuu > Enma is a great punish in this matchup. It's a guessing game for both players, with Lambda having a slight edge in that it's easier for an "incorrect" guess to cover more than one option since Hakumen is so tall even when jumping. Conversely, if I get in, she's mine. Her escape options aren't great outside of backdash, which doesn't work in the corner (obviously) and Calamity Sword, which is easily option selected on her wakeup.

  10. Sorry for late reply, just saw this. I think about guessing right, lol. I still play it similar to the CT days: IAD over 5D, Kishuu under 6D. Kishuu'ing through 5D is possible offline but too hard to time consistently online, so I usually don't attempt it. I also watch for 2nd hit 4B and overall try to play patient--air approach is inevitable for Hakumen since 5D/6D give him such trouble, but I have to take care lest I eat a 6D/2D/2C/6A. If everything works out, I slowly inch her towards the corner, capitalize on one mistake/make one good read, and go to the body shop with a big punish. One mixup later and it's Round 2. If everything DOESN'T work out, she keeps me out all day and nickel-and-dimes my health or I make a bad read and get fucked.

  11. "Who fucking cares, i will support GG, i give a shit if meele is more popular (BTW fuck smash) i will support the game i like, whatever the odds" If I ever run into you at a tournament, I'm giving you a high five and buying you a beer.

    [AC+R] News & Gameplay Discussion

So it's not about which games are objectively most well suited for what's supposed to be the premier national championship (the obvious ideal), or even about which one is most popular (a flawed concept), but about which fanbase has the most expendable money (DANGER: RETARDATION APPROACHING CRITICAL MASS)? I'd be a lot more okay with the donation poll if the joke options were omitted (MLP, Divekick, etc). Yes, that includes Smash: As if any proof was ever needed that the Smash community is primarily subhuman filth. Copping out on cancer research fundraising money on the chance because your game doesn't get picked to be ran at a tournament it has no place at? Stay classy, scum. I'm not going to EVO but I'm still going to donate in the name of GG. Gotta keep the non-casualized flag flying, since EVO themselves have little interest in doing so, and judging by preliminary poll results where Smash/MLP crush everything else, most "fighting gamers" these days aren't interested either. As a final aside: "SFxT will not be at EVO 2013" - Mr. Wizard "SFxT will be at EVO 2013" - Mr. Wizard I wonder what he's going to spend that Capcom check on. Can we re-open the discussion (obviously not here, but somewhere on DL) of saying "Fuck EVO" and creating a national that isn't corrupted by Capcom money and personal bias?

Arc recently (couple days ago) posted something about v1.10 on their Facebook. I can't copy+paste right now since I'm on mobile but I wanted to give a heads up if someone wants to translate it.

[CP] News & Gameplay Discussion (Old)

I'm not going to participate in this debate again since it will make Circuitous mad, so I'll only go as far to say: 1. I don't play on wireless 2. I live in the metropolitan area of one of the major cities in America. My county is ranked 30th in U.S. broadband rankings (that's out of 3000+, meaning my county is in the top 1%), and my average up/down speeds smoke the national average (I get around 25mb down, 5mb up). My connection is fine. 3. My connections on BB are above average (mostly 3s regardless of distance in the US, some 2s and 4s). GG doesn't use the same netcode as BB and if you think that, please explain why the character select screen lags on GG but does not lag on BB, and why it doesn't support lobbies/spectators/etc yet. I mean, if they just reused the code, all that stuff is already done, right? Or maybe it's different code that is implemented differently. 4. Go fuck yourself.

Meh, if they don't release it for Xbox, I won't play it. I'm not going to bend over backwards to give them money if they choose to pretend the 360 side of their BB fanbase doesn't exist. I'm more excited for GGAC+'s patch anyways (assuming it unfucks the netcode).

^Lol, thanks And yeah, I made a realization recently that waiting around in big rooms was making me saltier than anything else. I've been doing 1v1 rooms lately and it's been a lot more fun. No waiting, plus the sets are more interesting since after a few matches you start to dig really deep into the mindgames.

    [AC+R] News & Gameplay Discussion

A.B.A.'s execution requirements are not very high; Orb loops are probably the hardest thing she has to deal with since character specificity can make them kinda iffy. Aside from those, it's mainly Butt loops which are pretty easy. The difficulty in playing her comes more so from correctly managing her meters and subsystems.
