  1. @starlord There are no ways to combo into an IK with normal conditions (red activation), but when it's the opponent's last round, they have 20% or less health, and you have more than 50 tension there are lots of ways to combo into it! You can also get an IK mid combo, even if the opponent didn't start at 20% health, by reducing their health to 10% or lower mid-combo. This is called a gold activation.

The easiest way to do it is 5D[6] > IK. You can get more creative by doing it in combos, like 214K > c.S > 2HS > 623HS (RC) > IK as they're falling down. Or from a sacred edge confirm in the corner with 100 tension, c.S > 6K > 236D > 236236P > IK.

  2. @BladeOfJustice7 The timing is a little strange, I think you need to input a 5HS as soon as possible, then input another 5HS as soon as you can after that, etc.

I find that if I just kinda mash the button fast it works often, i've got a kind of rhythm for it that's hard to explain though. The best advice I can give is to repeat it with slightly different timing each try until it clicks. Remember the key is to press the button again the moment the first 5HS connects, and then the same for c.S

no you 2p then delay c.s for the frame trap, itll net ch often even against strong players

Yep yep. Go to training mode and record an opponent to hold down back a second, then start mashing a jab. You can practice the timing that way

    Combos of off CH c.S (from your sucessful frame trap!): [c.S (CH) > 6HS > 66c.S > 6K > 236D > 236K] For a stable knockdown.

    [c.S (CH) > 6HS > (c.S) > f.S > 3HS > 214K > (HJ) > j.S > j.HS > 623HS] For maximum damage.

  4. @SoulGuitarist The frame trap that I use for basically everything is 2P > c.S. CH c.S nets you lots of damage because you can go into 6HS for a crouching combo. If you're finding that hard, maybe try 2P > 2K. It's less rewarding but 2f easier timing.

You can do anything into throw, really. 2P > 2K > throw, 2P > 5K > throw, falling j.S > throw. Once you have them conditioned to expect throw you can see how they deal with it, either by mashing, reversals, or jumping.  It's very important to Ky's mixup game to threaten with throws and force the opponent to choose an option other than block.

  5. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I can't get the sweep to be a true combo. Feels like I'm doing 662D as early as possible, but maybe not? Maybe it's something else?

    j.S, j.H, 5K, c.S, 6K, 236D, 662D (black beats), 236H-oki
I've tried replacing sweep with stun dipper too; it still black beats, and doesn't look like the oki is as strong afterwards.

It definitely won't work from that far away. They need to be close enough that you can input a microdash and then immediately 2D. Try omitting 5K and see if that works.

  6. On the topic of corner 5D combos, does anyone have a good one ending with Ciel against Faust? My best is 5D > c.S > 6P > c.S > 2HS > Greed Sever > 2HS(1) > HVT > c.S > Split Ciel at 139 damage.

    5D > c.S > 6P > 5HS > Greed Sever > c.S > 2HS > HVT > c.S > Split Ciel doesn't work because Ciel misses

    5D > c.S > 5HS > 2D > 3HS > Greed Sever > HVT > 2HS > HVT > c.S > Split Ciel doesn't work because 2D misses

  7. Yo DEM PANTS SON! Also going back to anji I am pretty are sure we all want the old cast. But is that only what we should do? ONLY work on previous members? Not make other stuff? All I'm asking

I'm definitely all for including new characters. The old cast is cool and will forever been in our hearts, but Xrd needs a cast to separate it from the other games in the series. That means focusing on bringing new stuff to the table and adding the old characters when they get the chance. Hopefully Jack-o surprises me in the long run!

  8. This is me getting flexed on last night at casuals.

2:48:39 and 3:50:00 is where the murder happens.  The only thing I can reliably say for sure is that I missed a lot of followups on big confirms.  Other than that, I have no idea what I'm doing lol.  Open to any and all suggestions.

I try to use j.D > 236HS to zone out Faust instead of just 236HS. They travel across the screen quick and keep him from throwing items too carelessly. If he tries to teleport there's a good chance he'll run right into j.D's hitbox while it's active, I don't know exactly how reliably it works but it seems to work really well for me so I guess try it out.
