Blue Revolution US Finals - Walnut, CA - 2/25/12

Oh man, such a hype tournament. Mad shoutouts to James Xie for organizing the whole thing and just generally being an awesome dude. Shoutouts to Spark being free during qualifiers (and ONLY during qualifiers) A special thank you goes to my teammates, WallJumpMan/ApologyMan for absolutely wrecking house and to Dacidbro for... well, I don't know what he actually did, BUT I'M SURE IT WAS AWESOME. In no particular order, Zong_One, Huey253, Jan, Jason D, Sanoshi, Render, Mike Z, LK, KV, other people with acronyms for names, MegaDavid and Co; Donovan, BOBBEH, Kensou, Biter, Severin, The Guy From Level|UP What Did the Streaming, Shin, Mark, C0R, Brice. I know I'm forgetting more people, but there were so many names to keep track of, so I apologize. All in all, fantastic tournament, thank you everyone. (PS: What do Lord Knight and a fresh ocean breeze have in common? They're both salty and free! lawls)
  3. According to Dacidbro, Vitra from Canada is coming to this NCI for the qualifier. And as it's free if you enter the main tournament, I'm fairly confident at least a few other groups will show up.

Hmmm... Pozer is being polite, well spoken and doesn't appear to be trolling at first glance. He must be up to something...

@Brice, that makes a hell of a lot more sense.

So, we have to bring our own consoles, and they have to be ps3, and any kind of pad is banned? Isn't that really limiting your audience?
  7. Hmm... this is happening on the same day extend comes out. Uh... let's keep it going with CSII.
  8. Hey guys. Sorry for the late message, but I haven't had internet access since friday-ish. Shoutouts are as below, in order of best hair: Myung: Thank you so much for hosting us and just being super awesome in general. I'm so glad you opened up GC. Chun: Dude, you rock for organizing the whole thing, winning the Ultra Salt Award (USA) every time I see you, and just generally being a cool guy. Aginor: God Mu is dumb. But you're awesome, stay that way. Huey253: When our tournament match gets up on YT, I'm going to tell everyone that you paid me to lose. AND THEY WILL BELIEVE ME. sG: Awesome seeing you and the whole PWN crew again, glad you guys made it. Those casuals we had were hands down the most fun I've had with BB in a long time. COR: Stay frosty my friend. Keep kicking ass, being a really cool guy and losing to tagers. Bohemian Polka: Thank you for the shirt! It's so bad-ass and moe, I love it! TCD: Fuck. Yeah. Solex: I want to start seeing you in grand finals. Trix: A really chill guy, and your Ragna really has gotten better lately. More match up XP and you're going to be a force to be reckoned with. Eric: "I DON'T GET IT! I'M DOING ALL THE SAME THINGS AS YOU, WHY AREN'T THEY WORKING". I found that whole exchange really funny Pain: Your Zenia MIGHT just be a LITTLE better than mine. By which I mean, I got raped like a japanese schoolgirl in a tentacle/lube factory. And they were all out of lube that day. HFA: Good seeing you again man, wish you still played and thank you SO MUCH for bringing SkullGirls. Vineeth: You played well and made me look like an absolute scrub while doing that. I'll get you next time and I need some more casuals in between. 2GB: You made Noel cry by switching to Makoto. How could you do something like that, you heartless bastard? Xie: As always, you're an awesome guy and I'm glad you made it. We need to sit down and grind out some matches sometime. Willy/Crossell/James: Thanks for helping run everything guys. And for always cheering for the guy I was playing against. Every. Goddamn. Time. Stream Monsters: Stay classy guys. It's all for you.
  9. I thought we had decided that GC couldn't hold the amount of people we were expecting? (Not that I'm complaining...)
  10. I really like Game Center. Myung is an awesome, friendly guy and we should do whatever we can to help support his arcade and he in turn would bend over backwards to make our event as easy and accessible as possible. That being said, I cannot support Game Center for a major NCI. Simply, there isn't enough room for it and the internet connection for the stream (which is our main method of exposure for his arcade) is not up to par and will not be by the time this event rolls around. Also, I want everyone to keep in mind that I live about 5 minutes from the place and want nothing more than to hold it there. I am a huge proponent of holding alternating ranbats there and would be happy to help organize anything and everything we do that would relate to GC. For this specific event, however, Etrium sounds like the place to go.

  12. GGs all! Jared, awesome seeing you again! Andrew, keep kicking ass! I'll do my best to make it to your tourny. Spirit Juice, thanks for running 2 separate tournaments and just generally being awesome. Dacid, I don't think we played one match! That's a first! Shining Aquas, stay free in every game except Arcana Hearts. Ernest, you trolled me good. OrienXElite, stay awesome. Willy, keep the streak alive! Batman777, no offense intended, but I thought you were a bot for the longest time. It's good to know you're actually a pretty cool guy. Crosell, we never got to play those matches Other people I'm forgetting: thank you for showing up and helping to keep the scene strong. Couldn't do it without you guys.
  13. Nate, I'm sure that you don't mea... That is to say I think of a couple of people that... There's probably... um... several people here that would want to see... Damnit nate! Just show up!
  14. Hey guys, Just wanted to drop this in here: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?11989-Skullgirls-At-Game-Center-Poll If you're hype for Skullgirls (which Chun said will be part of next seasons NCI), please respond to the poll!
  15. So, if you're not angry and/or hungry, you're salty?
  16. LLLEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOYYYYYYYYY TAOOOOKAAAAAAAAAAKAAAAAAAA
  17. I've been here, as a lurker, since the GGXX days. No it wasn't.
  18. I remember when I thought this website was a useful venue of information. It makes me sad to think of how mis-led I was back then.
  19. I'm glad this now has a more positive spin to it. The NorCal Express is as geared as it ever was to kick ass, take names and win dem moniez. HyperBolic Time Chamber Training GO GO GO GO! I don't really like doing money matches, but I'll throw down FT3 $5 with a handful of people I guess. But only if I've never played them before. And finally, lol @ Senaki saying Cali would lose if we went to florida. Am I the only one that remembers our Mirror Matches on PSN?
  20. There's a difference between an argument and a discussion. I'm asking you to back your belief that Revelations is a tournament that is not worth my time (not stated, but implied), that the people running it are untrustworthy and "shady". As I pointed out initially, I have never "forgiven" Active Gamers for the disaster that was Triple Threat. Nor do I plan to. Whether or not people should go to Revelations, however, is entirely what this discussion is about (again, not stated but implied). Alright, I'm willing to concede the idea that SCR was mainly LU, no TL. Fine. Does this mean that the parts that TL were responsible for were handled horribly? Was there any fallout at all that TL was blamed for? Seems to me that even if they weren't shouldering the primary burden of SCR, they contributed and did their jobs and did them well. Because people are inherently distrustful of other people giving them large sums of money. I ran an event called the "CopperDabbit Challenge" and I guaranteed money up front. That make me shady?
  21. And I thank you for providing it. However, as a counter point, you have not responded to any of the valid points that were brought up with this thread. If you cannot dispute the things that were posted contradicting your statement, doesn't that make your point invalid?
  22. I'm going to bold parts of this for those of you who skip lots of text. First off, I do feel that many of you have some valid points about Active Gamers. They were a shit group that ran a horrible tournament that pissed many, many people off. Myself included. Let's break this down to be clear as to why Triple Threat sucked balls: 1) Started very VERY late. As one who did not pre-reg, I was standing outside for 4-5 hours. 2) People that did register were handed an iPhone and asked to prove that they had registered by logging into their paypal account. 3) A tournament (SF2:HDR) never happened, but still collected entry fees. 4) Winners of various events were paid several hours after their event ended. 5) Winners of various events had to volunteer to not get paid so others would. Please feel free to add in a helpful format if you feel there was another concern that I missed. This next portion is what Active Gamers did in response to the above: 1 & 2) Picked their assholes. 3) Eventually (yes, the key word here), refunded the entry fees. 4) See #1. 5) Eventually (again, the key word here), mailed out checks to all of the winners and everyone got all of the money promised. So why do I bother to post this? Nothing they did after the fact made up for a horribly run tournament. Fuck these guys. All they need to do is run one bad tournament, (eventually) keep their promises and they are never allowed to run another. Ever. Those looking down on this tournament solely for the reason that the group running it once fucked up horribly, are crucifying them and any future actions of theirs. Remember that one time you played really poorly? Couldn't land a combo, got hit by everything and were getting madder and madder at yourself? You suck and should stop playing all fighting games forever because you fucked up that one time. You should never be given another chance. Ok, so my example isn't 100% accurate, but I still think I have a valid argument here. In this day and age when a major is a rare thing to begin with, why should we ostracize a group trying to put together something that we all want? Because they picked a bad day for it? Oh, and as stated in TL_Staff's original post on SRK, they already have the blessing of the CEO crew. I say that 1 doesn't make a pattern. I say that SCR was run well, and I got paid on time with no shenanigans at all. I say that they have earned a 2nd a chance. And that's it. That's my entire argument. So, with nothing left to do now I'm going to keep planning on going to Revelations come this June. Oh, and I do support Evo. I have ever since my trip in 2007. I'm going to continue supporting them, like I always have: by going to Evo.
  23. nothingxs, I did read your post in it's entirety and my post went to what I concerned to be the most valid points in your argument. Please don't take that the wrong, I'm not trying to be insulting, just accurate. I was there are triple threat and I remember how crappy it was. I was there at SCR and remember how much fun it was and how smoothly everything went (except the start time). They showed at SCR they have a better handle on what's going on and that they can do same day pay outs (I got one). I honestly didn't think I needed to state the obvious.
  24. Y'know I read all of this on srk as it was happening and frankly, I don't understand. So now that there are 2 tournaments on the same day, you have 2 options: 1) Go to Revelations 2) Go to CEO 2011. If you choose to go to Revelations you have a chance of winning up to and including $20,000. This also means that there is no chance of getting seeded at Evo. You will have to play more matches of a game you profess to like in the first place. The horror. If you choose to go to CEO 2011, you have a chance of winning a smaller prize and a seed spot at Evo. This means that at Evo, you will be playing a game that you profess to like less. The horror. Competition is a healthy thing and if we have tournaments that are fighting for our attention, it's totally a win for the players/community. The organizers fighting means we get better prizes, more incentive, more people, more hype. Now, I understand that this particular argument would NOT hold true, were we talking about a major event deliberately shutting down/picking on a smaller event. This is not the case in this particular instance. It seems from my perspective, and please correct me if I'm wrong, that your real concern is that you want your cake and to be able to eat it too. That is, you want to be able to vie for an Evo Seed spot and $20,000 without having to make a choice between the two. So, quick re-cap: Competition is healthy, and life can throw some hard choices at you sometimes. Welcome to life outside of the internet.
