  1. I think we should forward this to the matchup thread, but in any case I feel the matchup is more even than it appears in my opinion.

You can keep her blocking indefinitely (even more so than usual), and Koro is good at swatting her for trying iceball zoning.

Sweep > special cancel > C Divine Vacuum auto-kills the dog but you can call that out with IAD j.B very easily. Sweep is still good to keep Koro down, that's usually what I do if I know the Ken is going to attempt offscreen 2C but it's still slow.

236D also autokills the dog if it hits first but Koro 5C can actually break it and leave Margaret in the entire animation. Charge Thrust should be able to break the persona (maybe even hit her) if she's anywhere but fullscreen. If you have to block it, instant blocking the many hits of its active frames are good to build meter. When the move is completed you do 5A > jump cancel (probably even better that you can send Koro as well). Autopilot 236D in blockstrings can be rolled (as long you're not Kanji). If she's close enough, you can Guard Cancel Evasive Action if you happened to block it.

She can zone and make it where Ken has to think a bit about dog shenanigans but not as badly as we initially thought.

Be aware that when she has meter, Power Slash is a great way to punish standard strings into Gigantic Impact if she instant blocks appropriately. Plus the active frames of the already sun-sized hitbox will last longer after hitting your persona.

When she's on offense, if they're autopiloting slow moves up close such as 2C, spear, sweep, God Hand, iceball spam and you have good reason to think so, Evasive Action is a good idea in that case. Just be wary if she demonstrates that she can punish your rolls, if she introduces lows in her blockstrings or end them prematurely to counterhit the recovery. And as you already know Ken DP is an invitation to death although you can get lucky and hit a persona so you can special cancel Fire Breath from the atmosphere (lol)

I guess watch Chou vs Tahichi since that's probably the only consistent footage of this matchup at high-level. Hope this helped for a small blurb.

  2. I'm okay with it, might as well add content. Some ideas are probably dated but likely not that far from the truth unless the matchup truly changed significantly.

As far as Margaret, I'll check in from time-to-time if I feel like there are inconsistencies.

(Yay for doing my job, go you \ o / )

  4. GGs to KarzeonofFortune

Got stomped pretty hard but I kinda grasped a concept on how to block Margaret and where she's open in her strings although I'm too slow! :P

That was /you/ who I played this evening!?

    I did all of those horrible things to you ;w;

But yes, those two things are very crucial to recognize! Hah

Feel free to chat it up/play any time. GGs friend.

  5. Belated GGz to funcky, Atarax, GUY, everyone else in funcky's room, and kazen last night.

I had a lot of fun but had to run to cram my French powerpoint for today (Margaret was indirectly involved too!).

And yes Atarax, I am still /very/ surprised how pleasant our connection went considering I was having issues with people supposedly in my own damn state! :o

  6. Good games to Axis/OmniSScythe...lol those weren't games just demonstrations. But I came to observe and hopefully learned..../something/...

^ This is why I left early Scrub so I can look in.

I've advised you against rolling too much before. I'm not at the level to really punish most of your rolls (generally I try to wait and let 2A come behind the roll but I seem to be messing that up). However, I'm trying to space myself and stop using long recovery moves where even if you did roll, I should be able to reposition and maintain neutral.

Good games to "jap_maso". I'm presuming this is jon_maso. Doppelganger?

So much Rise MU experience today :/

  7. You've definitely readjusted since our last set! I was desperately trying to come up with partial solutions or DYING.

A lot of the latter happened and I was kicking myself. "DAMN! I knew that was an option and I jumped anyway!"

I fought another Shabrys directly after you. Had the swag combos, but I broke the shit out of Asterius and didn't really have too many approaches to my neutral outside of j.B da gawd

Also, just for the record if you ever see me do Margaret AoA, I swear to God none of them are /ever/ wanted! >_>

    Good gamez!

  8. GG's PSN. Shout outs to Radoric's 45 game win streak in Junes lol, too funny.

Special shout outs to Will of Fortune and rubedo777(even though we only played like 3 cause of connection issues) good games gents. Sorry we didn't get to play longer fortune-chan

Indeed, I'm generally around all the time. Nice Naoto, I definitely need MU experience with her. (Can't believe I actually ran straight into the trap trying to uncover it, think I can use 5A for that)

  9.  Generally, when picking up a new character, how much time do you spend in the lab on a regular basis?

    - I did Margaret from Day 1 so I learned things as they were being discovered so that helped. I'm now planning to do at least 30 minutes of training daily to finetune muscle memory. I spend an extended amount time grinding with more free time (for me, apparently it's Sunday afternoons). The time you spend should at least make you feel - "Ok, I learned something and I can work on this more and more." Overgrinding just for combos just leads to burnout imo.

    • Each character in these games have a fairly hefty amount of combos listed for them. Do you generally learn every single combo a character has listed, or do you prioritize and only learn a few you think really matter?

    - Basically I sort of pick a select few simple ones and work my way up. It helps that you picked some characters that I use. So for Millia and Margaret I focused on easy gatlings that allowed me to get a knockdown situation.  The okizeme they get is just as important so you want to know how to follow up your combos with offensive pressure.

For Margaret I worked on small gatlings that ended with 214A for a knockdown, then a couple of the 2C 2D counterhit confirms, and now I'm working on carrying them to the corner with fullscreen knockdowns and then doing setups afterward. (There's a comprehensive list in Margaret's thread)

At what point do you decide you have a combo, set-up, etc down consistently enough to say you "know how to do it" and move on? Do you use an x in a row system to determine it or..?

    - I do it over time. I don't exactly prefer doing long hours in one session, I basically see how times I can do it and then afterwards practice it against a person to see how I can confirm it. Later on, I start practicing on a still dummy and then against a person once again. I build up over time, it's just whatever works for you.

Finally, when do you decide your character is ready to leave the lab and go out into the wild against real players?

    - It helps me that I have friends at various levels who are always down for casual play almost every day (ily boos <3). With P4AU, I sort of jump on the fact that there's a pool of players both beginner to expert that I can test on in the arcade lobby.
