Geist: having a catch all normal isn't horrible, but is less fun than using a toolbox and finding the right took for the right spot. Having more layers than "attack or not" makes a character more fun for most in the long term.

I do respect this POV, since it seems to parallel the way Guilty Gear is naturally a toolbox based game where you're only really limited by your meter (and execution I suppose).  I guess I just thought of the move purely in terms of "this move is good and I want it back."

I will be sad to lose some of her normals if they do a whole Johnny redesign. I realllllly want to hold onto far s.

That's what I'm worried about, that redesigning her will be for the worse, but in theory I think it's better for her in the long run if they remake her from the ground up so she can be the best Xrd Dizzy she can be, as opposed to trying to "port" an old version of her and it failing, which is what it seems like happened to Jam.

  2. I dunno, I mean I'm not expecting +R Dizzy because that would be foolish, but I would rather they tailor her to Xrd system instead of cherry pick what parts of her old versions to incorporate.  I also don't think j.2S being her go-to air normal is a bad thing even if it does invalidate a lot of the other ones, but couldn't you say the same for normals in a lot of other situations?  Like there's usually a go-to ground normal for pokes, go-to air for air to air and for jump/dash ins, etc.  Actually them fucking with her normals is one of my bigger concerns, because as stated earlier great oki doesn't mean much if you struggle in neutral.  I guess we'll see.

    1. There are some links in HERE, but the actual thread looks dead. Seems like social media has taken over for community-building in general.

    2. It's recommended, but I've played with the console DMZed and without any ports forwarded, and both times, I had a NAT2 according to the console.

    3. It's neither. In addition to meaning "great connection/nearby player," 4 bars is also this game's way of saying "ping cannot be determined." Many times you'll get an unplayable connection with someone far away, and many times you won't be able to connect at all. Once in a blue moon, it'll be a legit 4-bar connection.

    4. New game but with some new characters. Gameplay for returning characters is the same, minus some 5D corner combos being different. Maybe some other small changes but I don't know the details.

    5. Read the wiki on this website and do the trials in the game. Maybe watch some videos of top players to build motivation and help yourself decide on a character. I think the group "Chemical Lovers" are putting some tutorial videos on Youtube as well. Haven't watched them myself but people say they're good.

    Good luck.

Chemical Lovers' new series isn't bad but it assumes you already have people to fight against.  If you're really new to the series it may not be a good idea to use them just yet.

Revelator got it's console release announced after the arcade release. Although it was announced quite fast, they proably wanted to announce something at TGS.

There should be a countdown for you at the stream link. It's about 5 hours and 30 minutes left.

Revelator was out for about a month before its console release was announced.  CF isn't even out yet.

Are you kidding me? Nobody plays Bedman. Because Bedman is for nerds and naruto fans.

Everyone plays Sol, because he is cool. That's a fact.

I'm assuming the 3 new characters play rates are high because they are new and being tried out. Part of me expected Leo, Faust and Zato to be a little higher though.

Every single Guilty Gear character is for nerds, dorks and losers.  If we were cool we would be palying Mortal Kombat or Smash, but instead we're sitting at the lunch table that none of the popular kids want to touch.  But hey, at least we aren't Virtua Fighter players #kappa

Honestly, Naoto kinda feels like Makoto wearing a ragna suit to me. Granted, might not hold up so much in terms of application, but I haven't been paying much attention to him BECAUSE he looks like makoto in a ragna suit, and I play neither. Certainly doesn't help his character design is essentially 'the most protagonisty protagonist'.

Hibiki doesn't really resemble any member of the cast in playstyle or visuals.

This is the same community after all that rejects HOS and Robo Ky for being "clones" but wants yet another space control setplay character in Bridget.

  7. You should tell your brother that a character with that exact shadow clone mechanic has existed for decades, his name is Kubikiri Basara from Samurai Shodown/Spirits.  He has never been higher than B tier.  In fact his shadow clones were even more powerful than Hibiki's are because on top of that he had teleports, projectiles, command grabs, the longest ranged normals in the game...you name it.  However if you and your brother still insist on Hibiki being "OP" because of such a thing, then please let me borrow your crystal ball, I'd like to know if the quality of the average Dustloop post has improved in 2017.

  8. Man I thought that ridiculous debates on what ethnicity/sexual preference/gender/whatever the characters are died back at Gamefaqs and 4chan.  I guess I was too optimistic.

Unsurprisingly, that NHK show turned out to be just a report on GG's history and interviews with ASW staff. Then they had an exhibition where you could tell that the staff member was sandbagging in the 2nd round before resuming the decimation of the American reporter playing him in the 3rd.

Is the archive up yet?  I'm kind of interested in watching it.

  9. There's just one thing I can't seem to remember, and I think that they already said it.

Is Dizzy (Poll winner) going to come out in Arcades this year? Or they're releasing her for consoles -Revelator- next one?

I wouldn't get my hopes up for this year since there's only like two months left.  Besides every time a character comes to console they get patched into the 1.1 version of the arcade anyway.

  10. If we used the story as rules for who made it to the roster and who didn't then Xrd would have like 6 characters tops.  There's nothing wrong with using the story to introduce new characters since that's exactly what they did with Elphelt and Leo, but it should never be a rule of who gets in and who doesn't, because you can only have so many important characters to any given story.
