  1. That is excellent news, good work! I'll help provide the lessons/beatings. I don't know much with Johnny, but I'll see what I can find out by the end of the week. What's up with Stryfe nowadays? I could teach her a thing or two with I-No, like how to whiff combos and be predictable. I'll also see if Rashaad will be able to go, since he expressed interest in getting back into GG last week. I feel like Super is going to throw another wrench into getting people to learn GG, though
  2. So, we are upon the last week of the month, and this means that we are looking at the third (?) BG RanBat! I think we ought to include BB:CS in the lineup this time around, seeing how much support it seems to have garnered last week. We should move away from the cancer that is BB:CT and level-up with the most current version (so that everyone will be a beast by the time the console port drops!). So, the games for this week are as follows...? SSFIV BB:CS GG:AC MB:AA Also, Blue9 should show up so I can punch his dolphins in the face. Also, Fraga, how's the status on the capture card?
  3. So, I have an idea for a Slayer-related shirt design. However, I just wanted to make sure that people were interested in the design before committing to buying Adobe Illustrator from the internet (I know a site where I can get a heavy discount), so I can make some kind of workable vector product. The sprites of Slayer that are shown would ideally be one solid color, with his red cape/crosses/tie highlighted in order to give a little more information as to where his arms are. Maybe some bats here and there might be in order as well. Please feel free to give criticism concerning the layout/presentation/fonts/etc, since it's a work in progress. http://i408.photobucket.com/albums/pp166/Mindgam3/SlayerShirtIdeacopy.jpg
  4. My money's on T. Hawk. You heard it here first, folks. Also, agp, what time is early?
  5. I am most interested in going, but I am not in need of a ride, for I am driving myself. Accompanying me will Vierge, Paul, and Danny (although he doesn't know this yet). More importantly, we are all in need of a room...
  6. If you could, that would be excellent. I know he's going, which must mean that he has a room arrangement of some sort. I think I have him in my contacts, but I know far too many Paul's to risk calling the one Paul on my list. I should write their alias as their last name if they hail from the internet. Isn't that right, DANNY DANNY?
  7. Wow, it couldn't have been a more excellent week for me not to show up...[/joking] You know it's not the same without my broken blob. In actuality, I'll be doing a GG training montage in Stratford in order to prepare for the ranbat the week following. However, I wish to give Furok his finished and fully-functional stick, since Robo is a no-no on pad. Is anyone going to be there particularly early so I can hand it off to them and leave with good confidence that he'll receive it?
  8. So who's going to East Coast Throwdown 2 (http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8221)? I really want to go, but I don't have the funds to reserve a room all by my lonesome.

    Slayer AC Combos

I finally got a chance to experiment with this combo, and it is quite consistent if you anti-air Baiken at the right height to connect the initial j.k -> j.k. The damage is definitely more than my combo suggested above as well (187 if started from 5P, 210 if started from 2S), since j.P seems to prorate, despite it not being mentioned in the frame data. However, the cool thing about my combo is that no matter the height, the initial j.P -> j.K will connect (unlike what I wrote before), and only after that do you need to judge whether to do another j.P -> j.K string or just another j.K before the JC. After that, you do the same combo and have essentially the same options. Basically, your suggested combo is better, but will whiff against a Baiken who is anti-aired low to the ground. So, it has a use...? You can also definitely do 5HS rebounces off of both of these combos, but you can only really follow it up with the sj.HS or AD j.D -> j.2k business, since the IAD j.k->j.k is seemingly impractical due to her small hit box. To summarize: vs. Baiken (Consistent Air Combos) 5P/2S -> j.K -> j.K -> j.2K -> JC j.K -> j.D -> j.2K -> j.K -> 5P -> j.K -> j.2K -> j.D (187/210); Recommended 5P/2S -> j.P -> j.K -> (j.P if low) -> j.K -> JC j.K -> j.D -> j.2k -> 5P -> j.K -> j.2K -> j.D (185/197); For Low AA's
  10. To make diagonals work by default in BB:CS, DO NOT SELECT FOUR-WAY JOYSTICK when running typex_config.exe. Maybe BlueNine has just been selecting four way joystick this entire time? Maybe now that he knows, he's holding down-back in preparation as we speak!
  11. You live right near NuclearCheese, NE's premier flowchart Sol. I take it that this is the meet-up that's been posted on SRK for a while? I'm guessing he's not going to go to East Coast Throwdown 2 (http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8221)? If not, I would be highly interested in tagging along. Surely he needs practice against Slayer, they're a dime a dozen! Just to clarify, are you going by train or by car?
  12. Doctor Faust, welcome! I don't know where you live, but perhaps you can make it out to Vernon, CT one of these days for ACT (yet to be announced), or our neighborly Fight Night held every Friday if you are interested in playing some casual matches/tournaments. Also, to make a note on our matches, you were not bad. However, what you had working against you is that I have a fair amount of experience fighting Faust's, so I know my theoretical situations very well for that particular match-up. However, you will find success as you learn how to zone with Faust, since Slayer is zoned easier than most characters (lack of projectile/short-range normals). Just keep with it and you'll get better, trust me! P.S. The worst thing you can do as a Faust player is be predictable with item-tosses. Learn to mix those up with your normal keep-away game and know how to press the advantage with your items. I can't tell you how many times I get hit out of a combo because of a mini-Faust/Robo-Ky/Potemkin.
  13. You got to earn it! However, if I don't get the HCL 6FRC6 in a combo by the end of our matches, I'll just give you the money. I want an alt that can explode faces, not drop combos and hover dash into gold bursts. Are you coming down this week? If not, just make sure to tell me when you are so that I can bring my equipment. A couple of things you could check for yourself before I have at it are loose wires between the 360 PCB and the Cthulhu board and disconnected QD's. All you need to do is remove the top panel with an allen key, of which you can buy sets at any hardware store for around $5. It's a good investment. Fraga ought to have it. Let's start getting some videos up!

    Slayer AC Combos

There's no feeling like playing in a tournament final, hit-confirming into 2D, and going into IK mode when you were just thinking about how much you were going to rape the opponent's lifebar. I've since then switched to RC'ing with KSH for that particular use so that doesn't happen again. Anyway, does anyone have a consistent midscreen air-combo for Baiken off of a 2S (or 5P if you get lucky). The most I've managed to figure out is dependent on how high you hit her. 2S/5P -> (j.P if low) -> j.K -> j.P -> j.K -> j.c j.K -> j.D -> j.2k -> j.D for knockdown, since Baiken's are made for smart okizeme and throwing . I have yet to experiment with possible 5H rebounces.
  15. Well, also the fact that the PS2 port for AH2 was terrible. Don't worry, when Arcana Hype 3 comes to console I'll be throwing down with mad steez. I also won't need to mod my PS3 to play import titles.
  16. Just bring it this Friday...? Furok: I should have your stick done by Friday. I apologize for the wait.
  17. Sengoku Basara X is in Tougeki, so by no means is it a poverty fighter. Also, Battle Fantasia obviously had far too much of a budget to be a poverty fighter. They had a target demographic (teenage women) and everything! Why hasn't anyone suggested Rainbow Edition yet? Let's take a second to speculate the kinds of people who played it. If we assume that bootleg products are generally cheaper than official products, we can surmise that the Jamma board for Rainbow Edition was much cheaper than the official board for SFII:CE. If an arcade operator knew this and willingly bought the board knowing of its status as a bootleg product (not necessarily its contents), we can assume that the operator did not have a lot of money to spare on a new board/cab. Considering that this is when arcades were much more popular than they are now, an arcade's success can be merited towards the amount of people who would visit said arcade. If there aren't very many people who visit the arcade, that means the people who would visit this arcade would not have access to a better one. However, since America thrives on the automobile, we can also conclude that if one were affluent and had the means and finances required for transportation, they would do so in lieu of frequenting aforementioned arcade. Therefore, we can consequently determine that the people who played this version were of a lesser financial status, much like the arcade operator(s). Taking into account the extreme popularity of SFII during its heyday, the passion poured into this seemingly broken version of SFII: CE is THE VERY ESSENCE OF FIGHTING GAME POVERTY! Thank you for your time. Zoob is employed, so he's going to Anime Boston
  18. I have an interview in a couple of weeks with regards to becoming a driver for UConn Transportation Services. The catch is that I'll have to start next semester... Anyway, we should all remember that this Friday just so happens to be the last Friday of the month! Unless everyone want to get bodied in GG again, you guys better step it up!
  19. AND MY AXE! ...Just PM me the information.
  20. While Springfield and most other regulars were not able to attend, there were probably around 5-10 people whom I haven't seen before playing Melee and Brawl in the back. Since I'm now back at UConn, I'll be sure to pass the word onto the Melee/Brawl players in our VGO as well. In other news, it seems that the ball is rolling in terms of GG and MB. New and old people interested in learning these games seem to be popping out of the woodwork every week. I met Jamstunna for the first time (who had a surprisingly solid Baiken from playing with the Hartford crew eons ago), and a Smash player who was (re)learning Kohaku with LordPangTong. If we keep this momentum going into the summer, BG will be the place for competition in NE. Also, there's a Rita's in the same plaza. Once it gets hot, that will be god-tier refreshment. We're talking Eddie triple-unblockable kinds of broken...IF ONE FRAME JUMPS DID NOT EXIST. Also, if anyone else needs their stick dual-modded, I'll be more than happy to help...or do it for you. People shouldn't be barred from playing a game just because their stick is not compatible with an older/newer system. There are many options available, and people should be aware of them.
  21. Well, I will be at Battlegrounds tomorrow, with both Kona and Danny's sick nasty sextuple-modded sticks. If you two would like to pick them up and try them out for a couple of hours just to make sure that they are properly working, this is where you want to be. Good luck to those going to Final Round. Make it free.
  22. My I-No vs. your Axl, FT5 $5 at ACT XIII. Land two reps of a Bomber loop that's not off of a throw (ex: TK Bomber, [2S, j.D, 623H] x2*, land, rensen, tap 2 (corner only)), and I'll give you $5.
  23. But one of the advantages of using a stick is so that DOESN'T happen. My thumbs were a mass of calloused skin by the time I started using a stick, and I must say I quite enjoyed the fact that I could play for longer periods of time much more comfortably. I would say learning how to use an arcade stick for this very reason is by itself worth it. The fact that your execution becomes that much more consistent in the process makes me wonder how people could prefer pad in the first place (provided they have the means of getting a stick). It took me around 2-4 months to become somewhat proficient with a stick. However, I still don't believe I've mastered using it just yet (All in due time, I suppose). The most important thing is to constantly try out new grips/hand motions in order to figure out what is most comfortable/most efficient. Two games that I believe are essential to learning how to properly use a stick are ST and ::coughcoughGuiltyGearcough::. There is no bullshit, just precise motions and timing. GG is a little more lenient, but it makes up for that with various other concepts that require a good deal of execution (BDC'ing, charge-partitioning, jump-installing, etc.)
  24. I'm still attending. I'm bringing the self-proclaimed best Ragna on the east coast (if that means anything), and the Balrog that took Springfield's fight money a couple of weeks ago.
  25. If anyone is willing to pay $30 in labor, I could do the RJ-45 mod for you without sacrificing the select button. However, I will say that you do not by any means need a B.S. in Electrical Engineering to do this, it just requires a bit of forethought and proper equipment.
