  1. I used Bandicam to record the Mai demo and uploaded the videos on Mega in case anyone is interested: https://mega.nz/#!d4JU0bZK!h3XD20OG8Oxk0Uh2D_QNOYHDUPEagxYol7_1vKR4xi4 https://mega.nz/#!9hw0XbTJ!LsxXky7M6p4VhQhaSQZlyGom4RUVSUiFOaM-fjAJAF8 https://mega.nz/#!59wDUSIS!chjt0ErSiSxnP-VutQLZAXDHGSlnR-92Cf_wKHu6dic https://mega.nz/#!JxZTiDqZ!Z0lGDEs97R1SPhiqoV7WLTEH38M7NzxPJrAr1DBqACY The files are pretty big in size but they do cover the entire presentation (except for a few seconds between the videos). Also, I came across some screenshots of Mai's alternate colors.
  2. This stream at the Tokyo Game Show from Dengeki ought to be interesting (rest of schedule here):
  3. Here's a cleaner and higher resolution version of those matches that's not missing parts of the 2nd and 3rd round:
  4. Mori never said that Celica will never be playable; he only said that Celica couldn't fight. Since he solved that issue via Minerva, there was no longer a reason for her not to be playable. If the hitbox issue is solved then Jubei can be added to the roster with no problem. If Jubei gets Hihiirokane he might be tall enough to get in.
  5. That was a pleasant surprise; I wasn't expecting anymore footage until the 15th. Nice to see Mai in action in addition to seeing her stage and hearing her theme. It seems fitting that her theme is as upbeat as that of Makoto, since they're both friendly and cheerful. Jubei is 123 cm, Platinum is 142 cm.
  6. I don't imagine there will be any more new characters for months. But even if they are planning to add a new one relatively soon, they won't be available at launch, so saying there are more than 34 characters would be misleading. Also ArcSys likes to reveal information gradually, presumably because this helps maintain interest in their games. It's too soon to outright confirm that there will be future DLC characters. Keeping them under wraps will allow them to have a bigger song and dance routine when they eventually get announced.
  7. Here's a 5 minute promotional video of the new game, which is somewhat more substantial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AplpZpyZvOA Also here are the Tao and Tager teasers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytP3U80FnNE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWolGppmQew
  8. By the way, ArcSys has put some short CF previews on their YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drYcSB-tWTw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=weXS2i0-OkU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrgWIxbzFfQ
  9. You can hear a tiny bit of Mai's theme in the above gameplay teaser. Mai herself is described as cheerful in her character profile, which makes sense since she stopped being anxious and shy and instead became happy and quite open after overcoming her personal issues during Remix Heart. The change resembled that of Makoto in Heart to Heart, who went from being hostile and sullen to being open, cheerful and energetic. I'd say the main difference between Makoto and Mai is that Makoto is more playful and energetic and that she enjoys teasing her friends. Variable Heart has already explained how Mai got Outseal. Considering that the chapter coming out in three days will be the last one published before the Japanese release of CF, I doubt that they'll be revealing much more. My guess is that Mai's story in Variable Heart will be fairly self-contained. PS: I'd say they've been building up towards the inclusion of Mai for a while now. First by mentioning her in the CP story mode and the CT manga adaptation and then by adding two side stories starring her in CP. Plus, the final volume of Remix Heart had already included a sketch of Mai as an adult. I agree that what made her inclusion almost certain was the announcement of a new manga starring her though and the fact she obtained a new weapon of a type that nobody in the existing roster was using.
  10. Yeah, the story section has also been updated and now includes Mai. As you say Mai's most important relationships are with her three friends (I feel a bit sorry for her since she doesn't make top 3 for any of them though). The section also has a bit of background info about Mai. It says she's the heir of the Hazuki Duodecim family, that she was a classmate of Noel at the military academy, that she was transformed into a woman by a grimoire and went trough a variety of troubles, as well as that Mai has fully accepted herself as a woman now. It also says that Mai now rushes into danger armed with Outseal in order to defend an important friend. So I guess Mai's principal motivation within the story will be to defend Noel. Regarding Es I'm in agreement with those that say that the link is to Nine and we'll have a "revelation" of the relationship those two had within the story mode, rather than it being to a currently unrevealed character.
  11. Also, this article includes a lot of screenshots of Mai's playstyle along with other stuff: http://www.gamer.ne.jp/news/201608260081/
  12. By the way, the CF character section had a page added for Mai. A pity there's no gameplay video yet like there is for the other characters, but my guess is that they'll be adding it after they've introduced Mai at TGS. I like the range that Mai's voice has. She was pretty soft-spoken throughout Remix Heart Gaiden, but here we get to hear her sound playful, very serious when activating her Legacy Weapon, and earnest.

BlazBlue Official Art Thread and Directory

Mai got a profile page on the CF site, which means we get to see a clean version of this image:
  14. But then you cause the player base to split between those playing CF and those still playing CPE. This happening for a month or two isn't an issue, but I think it would be a problem if it went on for 6-8 months. And there's the issue of people who want to see the ending of Blazblue's story. Delaying the release means we get it later and if someone wants to play the game from early on then he'd have to buy the game a second time.
  15. Even if they don't go to the expense of releasing a second physical set of the game, announcing that they're releasing another version months down the line with added content would simply encourage people not to buy the current version. Seems to me that they'd be shooting themselves in the foot. And trying to sweeten the deal by handing out DLCs for free would simply cost them more money.
  16. My guess is that they want to sound vague because if they say "it's never happening", then that will piss people off even more. I didn't mean to say that dub fans are a small minority. But I suspect people willing to pay for a dub DLC are. Yomotsuhirasaka is a good track. Bloodline is great too.
  17. Thanks for the link. A pity it won't include Mai's theme. I hope that Mai's theme will get a vocal version though, since Saori Hayami is a great singer. Yup. Dubbing is the most expensive part of creating a localization. Spending all that money on a DLC that only a small minority of players would buy would be a terrible business decision.
  18. Looks like we have an announcement: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2016/08/24/blazblue-central-fiction-limited-edition-announced-dlc-details/
  19. I'm in favor of a quick Western release since it means you reduce the player base split that's created in the Western fanbase when there's a long delay, caused by some people buying the Japanese version of the game and others just waiting for the Western one. Also a faster release means we'll be able to see the conclusion to Blazblue's story more quickly.
  20. They're both short girls in long dresses with huge swords, so there's certainly a similarity in that respect. I've only played a bit of Arcana Heart; is her fighting style similar to that of Es in any way? I guess that makes Ragna the Keymaster.
  21. But Blazblue has had a naked character in it since Calamity Trigger. His name is Arakune. Nothing else has been announced regarding footage of Mai; I hope that they will release a preview video of her before TGS.
  22. I remember seeing someone argue a few years ago that Azrael was Mai after she turned back into a man. This theory was based on the fact they both have blue hair. This image shows the details of part of her crest.
  23. I don't recall anyone denying that Mai's outfit is designed to provide fanservice. However so is practically every other female outfit in some way. Complaining about Mai's outfit within the context of Blazblue is a bit like complaining because there's a naked woman in a strip club. And we do have information about Mai's gameplay. Look here for example: https://www.evernote.com/shard/s296/sh/c1affb3b-a6f5-4096-82d5-5d92cdecdc51/062d3fb750067652711683f2807c835b
  24. I suspect that Mai will have a jacket she takes off before she fights. This drawing by Sumeragi shows her holding a long, red jacket behind her back with her right hand.
