    Colorado GG/BB match thread *2009*

YEAH JAMAAL, SECOND PLACE, BAYBEE!!! :D :D :D!!!
  2. When should I time the tp? I'm guessing the tp pushes you forward ever-so-slightly? Not at home, so I can't try it right now. Either way, thanks, Zoogs!
  3. So I'm trying to do 2a 5b 6b ankle snare 2c roll etc but I can't get the 2c to connect, ever. Only trying it on Jin so far, but I don't get it. If I didn't see that tutorial, I would swear that 2c can't combo after the snare. Tips? I've tried mashing it early and delaying it, but to no avail. Maybe I need to walk forward a little.

  5. So I played Carl at a friend's house yesterday/today He told me that j2c jb is a loop, and I started doing it wtf carl, you so silly. New carl is an asshole, though cs1 carl was still better, imo But omgggg 6a

The thing about Brio is once it reaches a certain point, it's coming out no matter what. So if someone keeps doing jump mixups/overheads that put them in the air, brio can normally snag them. I don't really use 6a much because it seems to put me in a dangerous situation. I mean, if I know ragna's coming in with j.c, I'll have it out, but against things like Bang's jumping shenanigans, I'd rather block until I can summon, and then try to go for a sandwich from there. Another reason I do it is because the only time I'm ever really worried is when I'm in the corner. When I've been comboed into the corner, I normally have taken enough damage to have heat for CA/punching super reversals. I dunno, there are plenty of other ways to get away, I just like having Nirvana nearby so my jab can go into resets/crossups/sandwich/all of the above. Feels good, man.

use airgrab as a sort of AA when they're doing weak jump ins (2:34 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFeU4YnGGYY&feature=related) While it's risky (and I'm sure you know about it), if Litchi is gonna shoulder-check ya, you can viva through it and put that ho in a sammich (2:38, same match) @ 3:13 I think you were kinda nervous, I dunno. Buuut, instead of 2a, 5b, 6b, 6d, 5b, 6b, j2c I thiiiiiiink you could (and should) have gone for 2a, 5b, 6b, j.b, j.c, j.b, 2b, 3c+2d unblockable Or if you think he's gonna srk outta the unblock, just do 2b~2d and block. That'll give you like... 6-8k worth of damage, depending on what combos you know off the unblock/which part of it hits them (if you do the "hard-to-blockable") And last but not least: If you're stuck in the corner for an extended duration, get an IB>nirvana summon, soz you can have her SRK you outta trouble. There were a bunch of times where he'd set/move his staff and you had ample opportunity to summon Nirvana for some defense. If you're risky (read: stupid) like I am, you can also summon her, roll, and try to set up a sandwich (I do this whenever she's done a guard point/some fake pressure shiz and I know the shoulder check is coming up). I might just be bullshitting, but I think that 6d goes through the shoulder check, netting you a fatty CH combo.

Just watched the Valk match. Your corner lockdown was pretty cool. Valk is a dick.

Man, you and Zong were dropping combos as much as I do, lololol. Umm, only real suggestion I can give is that with both of you, if you hit with the doubleclap or whatever it is that makes them fall fast, you should follow up immediately with j2c allecan 5c volante>whatever. Can prolly do it into 4d for more damage, but yeah. Whenever I hit them with an AA clap that drops 'em quick, I do that and it leads into 4.5k pretty easily, rather than doing something like 5b jb 8d 3 times and having it do 2.5k (was what Zong did, anyway). I'll be looking over these vids more later, mainly to see how you handle certain MUs. I wish there were sound, though.
  10. I'm thinking more along the lines of using it when you know the opponent will be doing a string of mids/highs. Course, with auto-turnaround, you never know what'll happen.

[CS1] Carl Clover Combos: 2]D[ is 104% multiplier

Alright, got mah poor man's combo down pretty pat. I just randomly mess up the volante (once every 8 or so tries, but I'll get it so I can do that part 20 times consecutive soon enough) and the allegretto when I'm on 1p side (more often than not, but I think I figured out the trick at the end). I need to learn a throw combo, airthrow combo, and corner combo. I think the hardest is behind me. I was playing reset Carl up to this point. Then I realized that 4.5k guaranteed is better than two possible 3k combos. Plus, that knockdown is gooooooooood, as is having 50 heat to do whatever I want with.

kk, ty. I found the 4d to be easier to combo on the few times I got it to land, but I thought I just wasn't doing the combo quick enough. Will work on this tomorrow, prolly. Also, I have another silly mixup I discovered by accident. It might be useless, though. I'll try to put together a compilation sometime this week, provided school isn't too busy.

Yay@optimal. So if I were to do 4d in the combo, just replace volante with it and do the rest of the combo the same? What about when bitch goes too high (referring to Litchi, cuz that's who I practice combos on first) for 4d to connect? Am I doing 4d too slow? Or is it more a spacing thing?
  14. Akira might actually be on to something. I mean, some characters like (hahaha) Carl can put like... 15 billion lows into a blockstring, but for the most part you may be able to IB>viv b to get away near the end of blockstrings. If they use a sweep, you'll be fucked. Buuuut if you decide to not vivb and instead IB a sweep, then a lot of characters get boned hard. Of course, that's oversimplifying pressure in this game. We never really used vivb cuz viva is the shit (kinda). Well, I never did. If only they took out the stupid auto-correct for when you cross someone up. It'd be nice if you IB vivb and lambda didn't turn around with 5c or some shit without even knowing you were crossing up.

[CS1] Carl Clover Combos: 2]D[ is 104% multiplier

Thanks for the info. I messed around with it, but the timing's kinda weird. I ended up working on my old combo, but I still have trouble hitting it consistently. Off 5b is 5b, 6b, 6d, 5c, 3c, j2c, j.c, 2d, j2c allecan 5c volante, j2c allecan 5c, 5b, 8d, j2c, j.c 2d, j2c j.b, 2d, j2c allegretto 8d xx fermata The optimal combo? I can't do 4d loops yet, but if there's one that's better, I'll work on it, too. But if I can only do 8d, volante/double volante, and 2d loops, is that the best I can pull off from a 5b? If the combo starts from j2c allecan crossup, do I need to omit anything?
