    [P4AU] Tohru Adachi Gameplay Discussion

I don't trust online enough to think most of them won't try to mash out, so I'd rather space with 2B > jC > SB gunshot, if I really, really needed to use a string with meter.

I'm definitely up for this, connection speed willing. My PSN is ZFPT.

So after a good chunk of matches, I've come to realize that 2B can be used to train opponents into back dashing against it. I've been trying to call folks out, only to have them backdash, but I found that if you're spacing it carefully, you can catch them with a 5C. In this case, the 5C seems to hit that middle awkward space between 2B (close) and 2C (far). If they're trying to bait out your 2B with an aerial approach, you might catch their backdash with 5C. Seems to have worked really well against several Minazuki and Mitsuru players I played against, but just wondering if anyone's had any luck with something similar.

Is your friend having difficulty dealing with the resets or difficulty doing them? From what I'm reading, it looks like he's having difficulty dealing with them.

If you're confident the opponent doesn't forward tech on your DP, with a Mandala buff you can DP > Heat Riser for unblockable 5D. It's usually only good once or twice before they wise up, but it's a great reversal setup, especially since on wall splat a max range 5C > 2C is unburstable due to silence. They just eat the loop and throw follow-up. EDIT: Nevermind looks like Red's already mentioned it. :x

My go-to punish is 5C > IAD > jC > 66 > 5B > 2B > 5B > whatevers Even on accidental cross-up, the 5B is given enough time to confirm. If you're worried about connections, 5B > Sweep will work as well. I'm finding the slide hit to be a great optimal in the corner, but perhaps it's just my terrible internet connection, but I'm dropping it against players more often than I do in training. It's quite tricky to connect sometimes. Nevertheless, 236A is a great choice especially if you want to push them into the corner more and more.

So I started using a sorta gimmicky air reset: Confirm > 5B > 5C > 5A > Reset (2C, 2B, or Air throw). I'm wondering if someone with more time than me can test it out whenever they get a chance? I tried it for a night, and it worked to some level on everyone I played against, but I'd like to know if it's just them not used to it or not. Generally on the 5C you want the stomp (no cancels) and to confirm the 5A at the top at the end of 5C given Adachi's 5A hitbox. On air tech, they are in prime 2B range. If they tech a bit higher or over, you can call it out with 2C. In the corner, if you don't think they'll throw tech, air throw works.

I forgot to say ggs to DairyDude for helping me with the Elizabeth matchup. GGs man, been a while since we played.

If anyone wants to play against a scrub Adachi, you can find me at ZFPTjp. I prefer 1v1s cause I hate waiting.

Hmm, alright. My apologies. It hasn't happened to me yet, but that makes sense.

Been useful so far. 2D comes out so far and unless they rush you (or they play Yosuke), 5D can be fairly safely activated after a confirmed DP.

DP mashing everywhere. This mirror match is also the worst. It feels like Mitsuru all over again.

    [P4AU] Tohru Adachi Combo Thread

Sorry to interrupt but I should mention that after watching the videos and experimenting it's 2C > 2AC (short hop), not sweep. Just in case anyone gets confused like I did, haha Update Edit: Yeah, after messing around with it, this string is really, really good. On that note, you can retrofit this into a handy corner escape. If you're stuck against players that have really long or unsafe block strings and your back is in a corner, I found that 5AAA > 236B > 5C > 2C > 2AC > Delayed 5C > 5B > 2B > 2C > Ender nets a decent amount of damage and switches position. With 214A and Magatsu ender it does 3828 without HR buff

Gotcha. Thanks for the clarification. On another note, my apologies if this is the wrong place to bring it up (lemme know and I'll correct it), but a recent string brought up in the combo by LordSpectreX has been quite troublesome: Stuff>Anti Air 5B>2C>2AB>(delay)5C>5B>2B>2C>Ender The 2AB just isn't coming out, even after trying to cancel after the first hit on 2C. I'm guessing the theory is to cancel the 2C with 2AB to so that Magatsu-Izanagi does 5C in the air, but I'm not sure if I'm just terrible at timing it or if there's something more I have to consider. Adachi just remains on the ground. EDIT: NEVERMIND I figured it out - it's 2AC instead of 2AB, so it's short hop instead of sweep.
