[CF] Blazblue CENTRAL FICTION: News and Gameplay Discussion

After Celica was added in CPEX, any character not Jubei being added to Blazblue's playable characters roster doesn't surprise me anymore...

@Zouf I'd say it's about as fast as average 5A/2A normals, which is like 5-6 frames start up for the 4X moves nine has.

It's different for each character, but "skillful actions" such as blocking well, teching throws, landing hits, anti airing, opening somebody up with mix ups, ect. Reward active flow points until you get it. "Attention" is shown right before you get it.

Yeah, I agree. We all know how much Arcsys loves their DLC, especially DLC characters lol.

Alright, so Kagura, Kokonoe and Terumi were the CP console exclusives at the time. I still think there is going to be another character added at some point.

7 characters were added for CSEX to CP 1.0, and Kagura, Izayoi, Kokonoe, and Terumi were all console exclusives at the time (correct me if I am wrong). I doubt Es is the last character to join the roster.

Nine's 4X normals have fast start up, you just don't see them normally other then 4A (I believe that's water) after Crimson raider for the 3 ice element freeze combo.

Lol imagine Azrael with Nine's dashes XD

To my knowledge, if she double dashes, the second dash has full invul and you can't hit her out of it. Seems pretty annoying.

I agree with everything you said, except Nine being momentum based. You are 100% correct that she needs spells to win, as that is the core of her gameplay, but when I think momentum based I think Kagura would be the best example as such. He can wreck people hard with his momentum, but he can get wrecked just AS hard by the opponent getting out of his pressure, OR not being to start his momentum to begin with. Azrael and Bullet is another example of this but I think Kagura is the best example of such. Well, with Nine, it is TRUE that her momentum is powerful, to say she is based off of it is kind of a stretch. I have seen nine players who lose their momentum in some way shape or form, but due to her neutral, they play safe and wait for the next chance to get in on the opponent. However Like you said her approach isn't easy at all and usage of her normals and mobility in neutral is what separates the amazing Nine players from the rest. This is definitely true. I just don't think Nine BASED off of the momentum she gets, I just think that is one of her advantages as a character. I would honestly say Nine and Arakune are around the same level of strength though, either way however those 2 characters are really strong at the moment.

It is highly improbable for them to patch the game before console release, so yes we will deal with full power... Well everything. Have fun playing Arakune while I'm just chilling with Nu, Terumi and Bullet lol.

??? Jin doesn't have short range, and plays differently according to the situation, not always Rushdown. And even though a nine player with no spells stocked has no meter less reversal options, her neutral is still strong enough to prevent a situation like that from happening in the first place. We also can't forget her mobility that has invul, which can make it even harder to touch her!bA pure Rushdown character can win, however it is actually a struggle to get in due to Nine's normals having amazing range and her conversion potential off of them, as well has her mobility options.

That's the point, lol. Nine has 19 spells (or 20? Can't remember but anyway a ton). She has multiple ways to deal with a majority of the cast and is overall very strong. Short range rush down characters like Makoto and Noel will have to struggle against Nine to beat her. The range on her normals are big, her mobility is a little weird, but is actually pretty good, has strong Oki and solid damage output. She is just... Well strong because of these reasons. Any character who normally has trouble getting in/have short range will have a hard time against Nine in her match ups. She isn't broken, but she is undeniably strong.

Navy Pressure has to be one of the slowest overheads in BB, I doubt people would get opened up by it unless they are put in a heavy pressure situation where it may be hard to see, like Uvarovite. I mainly see Navy Pressure used at neutral to keep people in check, the overhead property of the move seems like a bonus to me. It's like a better version of Margaret's God Hand attack.

True, she is stronger because of Kunzite. But to be fair that is Nine's only over head lol. It also makes as a pretty strong conversion tool.

Taaffeite, Uvarorite and Morganite are also strong spells. Her normals and mobility also are part of the reason of her being strong, as well as her excellent confirm potential, mix ups (due to the spells mentioned above), solid damage output, and strong spacial control. Many characters have trouble dealing with her due to this. Kunzite is definitely one of her best spells, but we can't ignore the whole package Nine brings.

Thank you!!! Carl is no doubt extremely powerful in CF but he isn't "broken". Carl doesn't do anything game breaking in his play style and Carl simply overwhelmes people with his variety of mix ups and his strong Oki set ups. Carl's approach, as you said is actually one of his weakest aspects. As far as I can tell, Carl players usually either sit with Ada, and respond to the opponents neutral choices, or if they are forced to approach for some reason, they like doing j.214C and Fuoco. Carl has definitely been a strong character in CF, but to call him broken is actually an overexaggeration. ESPECIALLY when you like at the past REAL broken characters in BB: CT Nu, Arakune, and Rachel, and CS1 Bang and Litchi. But the word broken is thrown around so casually in this day and age, so I expected people to call Carl "broken" anyway.

Jin is obviously a strong character, but you are overrating some of his tools, as a Jack of All Trades character he has to have tools that round him out, 5C is obviously a strong poke, but you can't tell me it is better than Mu 5C poke, a character that excels at mid-long range combat. Same how Jin Ice sword while it is good, it is NOT better than Nu 5D. Thats the point: Jin is strong because he has all these different tools at his disposal to use appropriately, but these tools won't shine in anyway compared to characters who excel in those areas.

[CF] Blazblue CENTRAL FICTION: News and Gameplay Discussion

Well, Jin is a strong character overall. He is always solid, consistent, and is unlikely to ever get massive changes to his gameplay, so he has always been strong, every since BBCT. While this is true, he is overall balanced, his weak mix up (for the most part) is probably his main flaw to be honest. And like BlackYakuza said, his overall tools only average in comparison to other characters, but the main appeal is he has all the fundamental fighting game tools (besides a command throw). My best example would probably be Jin's Ice Blade isn't better than Nu's 5D. Jin isn't really a pain in the ass, he is just, well strong like he always has been.
