  1. Ack, been busy with workload so I never did come by and reply in here. ;_; Just wanted to thank everyone once again for coming by and participating in the tournaments! I personally had a lot of fun, and took home a few things on how to improve my game. I think the PDX BB/GG crew is more than willing to head up to Washington for more meets and events, so we'll see about getting that going. :D Aside from that Epic seemed to be great on space, so we'll see about hosting future events there. Hopefully next time we can get more locals to show. -.-
  2. Getting more info ironed out. The current plan is to formally start the tournament @ 2PM (allowing out of town peeps a bit more leeway on travel time), with casual play both before and after the tournaments. The setup will be available until Epic closes @ 10PM. I honestly can't imagine the two tournaments plus casuals taking longer than 8x hours, but if anyone thinks more time is really necessary than let me know and I'll see what I can do. In the meantime, still looking to drum up interest and have a great turn out! Tell your friends! For the sake of additional planning and spreading the word, I'll also be creating an event on facebook. Will update the OP with the link once it's ready!
  3. Deleted my old-last-post so that I could bump without double-posting. I've talked with peeps at Epic, and we've settled on April 21st. I still have a couple details to iron out with Hellsap but I think we're pretty much set here. Just another reminder, if you have interest in attending and think you may show, please update this doc accordingly! It'd be great to know how everyone feels on the current details while we still have time to potentially change them. :D
  4. Tournament is go! Location: Epic Gaming Address: 17185 SE McLoughlin Boulevard, Milwaukie, OR 97267 Date: April 21st, 2012 (2:00 PM) Cost: $5 venue fee. $10 entry per tournament. Prize: 70% / 20% / 10% of prize pot for 1st / 2nd / 3rd. After gauging interest, it looks like we'll be able to pull off the tournament! The main event will be a BlazBlue tournament in hopes of reviving a local scene of sorts! The tournament will be a standard double elimination, best 2 out of 3 matches per matchup. (Standard setup, at least for the events I've been to) Something definitely worth noting is that most (if not all) BB players there are also fans of GG, so a GG side tournament is definitely likely to happen. (Hell, we could even make a pot for that as well if we so wished. :3 ) I'm going to talk with Hellsap a bit more about some specifics, but figured I'd update the original post so people can plan on the date. I'll add more info as it's decided, and am personally looking forward to an awesome event! In the meantime, please update this sheet accordingly if you're interested in attending. This way we can have an idea of who all is showing up. Much thanks all! Note - It was brought to my attention that Best Bout is also trying to gauge interest in Portland BB/G.Gear player base. I feel it might be wise to coordinate here, as more events in the Portland area means everyone wins! :D

    [AC+R] News & Gameplay Discussion

Pretty much in the same boat as most here. With BB out I had put GG off to the side since I didn't really have much of a reliable way to play Accent Core (well) on an HDTV. Pretty hyped about this though! Being able to train on my newer consoles is great, but being able to have GG tournies without requiring everyone to lug along CRTs is even better! :D

    [VS] Simple Q&A thread

Hey guys, I've always absolutely loved this series, and feel I'm long overdue for actually getting involved competitively. (Or at least giving it a shot) I know enough for the very basics, but nothing really in terms of comboing or even good pressure or the like. (Character of choice here being Gallon) So I guess here's a couple basic questions having come from a semi-competitive background in fighters. 1.) I know the majority of play right now is done via GGPO, therefore on the equivalent of Arcade hardware. I suppose one question is how does playing on Vampire Collection (PS2) compare to say, playing on Vampire Chronicles (Dreamcast) and having both players pick "V.S. Type" for their character? I know that PS2 Vampire Savior is pretty damn close to arcade perfect, but honestly my Dreamcast is by and far the easier one to play. (Broken PS2, and PS3 h8 import PS2 titles) I mean sure, I could just try playing with friends or practicing via GGPO. I just think it'd be a bit more convenient to make use of a console version. Actually, I guess that's my only real question until I get some halfway serious play time in. Thanks in advance for any answers, peeps.

What do you think about Astral Heats.

Sir, I respectfully disagree. Tager can combo his spark bolt into an Astral. I don't think it had to be a counter hit or anything. (Someone feel free to correct me if i'm mistaken) Lambda's AH is so stupidly close range, and on top of that you can just mash A to hit her before it goes off. =| I will agree though that a lot of astrals are better than others. I would personally be a bit happier with them if everybody had the same accessibility to use theirs, but am not really expecting that change any time soon.

Bloody-Knuckles: The "Main Event" 2/28/2010 Seattle, WA

Hey guys. EdgeKun / Ed / Robot here. Just wanted to step in and thank everyone for the G.Gear and CS matches. :D Had a lot of fun at the tourney, and really had a blast getting to throw down matches with peeps i'm not used to fighting. Here's to hoping I won't be scrubbing it up quite as much next time I get to play you guys.

    Wouldn't it be epic...?

Oh man. Like the rest of you, I'm remembering back to years ago. First discovering that anime trailer and thinking how amazing it was, and how amazing it'd be for an anime series, or that it meant one was coming out. Yeah, in hindsight, definitely glad we won't be getting one. I have nothing against fans who don't play the game, but I could see plenty of annoying animu kids tainting our beloved series with their fanboy/girlish nature. Agreed. While Maria mode was fairly cool, SotN in Drac X Chronicles was possibly the worst thing to happen to Symphony of the Night. No new dub can possibly compare to "DIE MONSTER. YOU DON'T BELONG IN THIS WORLD" *throws wine glass* But enough talk, HAVE AT YOU!
  10. Believe it or not, I think that's supposed to be how many calories you burned that battle. =P (assuming you used the wiimote and 'chuck controls)
  11. This might be exactly what I was looking for. Thanks very much for the assistance. :3
  12. Kjorteo: You would pretty much get a TV input card or USB device for your computer. Then just use your choice in software to get the input going to your compy. (They pack in with ATI software usually, I know Teyah used to swear by showshifter, but I personally like DScaler myself) Pretty simple really, once you fork out the initial cash for the input device itself.
  13. I'm certain you could convert the original GG to a popsloader format. (The PSOne emulation on custom firmware) The only problem would be the PSP's terrible d-pad. (that thing's a pain for me any time I try to play SLASH on there) Granted it wouldn't exactly be a UMD format, but one could make it into an executable that runs off the memory stick. Also along those lines, GG is actually for sale in the japanese playstation store. (For download to both PS3 and PSP) For those of us NOT in japan however, I could maybe work some magic and conjure up a working PSP version. (If anyone's interested. ) I know you say just a posterity question, but out of my own curiosity, why do you ask?

    Robo-Ky Players: Meet and Greet

First off, thanks for the warm greeting. =) Always nice to have a good reception to a forum. I've already noticed the wealth of good advice here and am doing my best to put it to use. As for the tickets to SoCal, I'm kinda doing the college thing right now (Oregon Institute of Technology, Klamath Falls, Oregon) so it'll be a year or so until I'm a little more free to travel about. That said though, hopefully I can get down there some day after graduation. =) Until then, I just do my best sparring against Hellsap and the rest of the Portland guys. (As well as the K Falls + Salem guys) ^^

    Robo-Ky Players: Meet and Greet

Oregon Robo-Ky representative, reporting. Been playing RK since Slash, dabbled a little bit with him in #R. While I'm hardly the best, (still working on getting air -> ground combos off on command) I'd at least like to think myself adept with RK. If any of you guys are ever in the Oregon area, send me a PM or something. I (as well as plenty of GG friends in the area) would love a new opponent. =P
