So long as an arcade version exists and is supported, that is where you'll see a majority of activity (in both play and revenue) for Japan. The sales numbers aren't stellar but understandable (and probably within projected margins). You guys are over thinking things a tad.

In Revelator, when both Players are at very low health (like "next hit wins") the camera will occasionally pause for a moment if they swing at each other at the same time, to emulate a "photo finish" effect. It's actually my favorite addition lol

My point seems to have gone over some heads, at the risk of (further) derailing this thread . . . We should all just be happy GG is a thing that continues to exist (especially after all the legal fiasco). Things could have ended up much, Much, MUCH worse . . .

Whenever I see you guys "discuss" the dated insecurities of "masculinity" I always think about the one true example of red hot manliness that Guilty Gear owes 50% of its existence to: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure . Then I think about the other half of the series' inspiration, rock n' roll culture dating back to the 70s. I just chortle from the shadows at that point.

Don't think that's quite right, from my understanding, Raven only build his special meter from being hit during a specific action. This already greatly separates him from A.B.A as this means the move likely acts sort of like a "counter" or (more likely) something with either super armor or auto guard properties. If anything, conceptually, he sounds closer to Painwheel from Skullgirls and even that is a stretch. Also the comment about HP management makes me ponder if ARC is bold enough to make a self inflicting charcter without a means of recovery. If anything I'm hoping for a move where he can hurt himself to raise his gauge as only through a certain move sounds like it could land on either side of the balance spectrum. Also hoping the enhancements come in more forms than a simple damage buff (would like to see something like Kamui's 22+X from Arcana Heart ) I'd also like to see them do something with his GUTS rating; either naturally (give him highest value, even beyond Potemkin) or through the use of his gauge (low or below average natural rating but can raise it significantly). Both to coincide with his motif and to balance out requiring him to be hit on purpose (generally the antithesis of fighters) Also saying he'd be "just" an A.B.A substitute is quite silly. Look at Sin, people thought he was just going to be Order Sol and the two couldn't be more different. (#gunblaze2k16plz)

Cool, I've always been interested in how Raven would play, though I can't help but feel what we're getting now is possibly vastly different from what we would've got a decade ago. Interested in seeing what transfers over from Overture since Sin had a nice convergence. On the unnecessary subject of the poll:

NicoNico actually offers a wealth of upload options which premiered before and surpass those of YouTube. The problem lies in the fact those features are locked behind numerous pay walls that require premium subscription. This is why Nico (unlike YT) was able to turn a profit in only its first year of service. The hosting site aside, you also have to keep in mind that, surprisingly, Japan is somewhat very behind the times in terms of the streaming culture. That is why their setups are almost always less than optimal. Lastly, the Japanese tend to focus on speed over quality. Have you ever seen the amount of raw footage that gets uploaded daily? The amount of time it would take to process the large amount of captured video at high resolutions would be a pain, especially considering that those videos are often edited for numerous reasons (to highlight a certain player or match up, cut those who don't want to be featured, etc). The simple fact is, a lot of Japanese uploaders don't see this as much more than a low key hobby for archive sake, so they'd rather get it up quickly and crappily as opposed to slowly or not at all.

Revelator literally has effects for and on everything (VS screen fire, sparking effects on character, burst, and tension gauges, etc) it's all pretty unnecessary outside of making a flashier spectacle for audiences and showing off the breadth of the upgraded engine. I could live without most of it, but they certainly don't hurt.

I went to A-Kon at the start of this month, and FUNimation were selling it at their booth, so they most likely got it legit.
