    TSB In Osaka [Spring/Summer 2015]

This is happening. I'm having a tournament in Japan in Spring/Summer of 2015. All signs point to May, but this could definitely change due to a couple factors, mainly if there are other large events (read: Arc Revo) around the proposed time frame. Think of this as a vacation, but you will have an awesome event to attend while in Japan with all of your friends. Event Info Place: Osaka, Japan Date: May 2015 Games: Xrd, BlazBlue(?), P4U2(?), AH3LM, UMvC3 Games will be chosen by their relevance at the time. This will be a 2 day event, but each respective game will only take 1 day. There will be multiple games per day. Finalized dates will be decided very soon. It will either be sometime during Golden Week 2015 (April 28th - May 6th) or the following weekend. So what left is there to do on your end? Prepare. The most important part to all of this is saving up enough money to go, but how much should you save and how should you plan? I've written a guide that will help you get started about what you should be planning for, but it will be posted later. A lot of you are probably wondering why I'm planning an event like this. That's a good question. there are mainly two reasons: 1). To give people an opportunity to play very strong players in a non-arcade format. 2). To give people an opportunity to travel and have fun with the foreign FGC and your friends. Please let me know if you plan on going. I made an initial thread to gauge interest and it seems like there would be a committed core of players that want to make this happen. I'll put in the work, but I'll need you guys behind me in order to make the event successful. Please post up if you're interested in going or if you have any suggestions. I'm all ears. I want to make this event enjoyable, so getting your input would be appreciated.

    Local Event Forum "Rules"

So you might have noticed that there has been some cleaning up in this forum recently. This is to keep upcoming events from getting lost is a sea of old events. Please don't take it personally if you see your event thread gone a week or so after the tournament has ended! If you want to post results for your tournament, please post them in the Results Archive. (I would also recommend posting any shutouts there as well!) Here are some "rules" I'm enforcing on this forum (but don't worry, they're nothing you really need to be worried about): 1). Unless your event uses the same thread for each iteration of your tournament, the event thread will be moved to the results archive (linked above). 2). If there hasn't been an update or post in your event thread for more than a month it will be moved to the Events Archive. If I made a mistake and your tournament is still active, please send me a PM and I'll correct the error! 3). Please keep events in this forum to single-day tournaments only. All multi-day events should be posted in the Majors and Regionals Events Forum. Thanks! If you have any questions please don't hesitate to send me a PM!

    TSB In Osaka [Spring/Summer 2015]

Most events in Japan are one day because of work schedules. What would people want on the second day? Different games? I still don't know the price for renting out the venue, so funding might not be a problem. I'll keep this in mind though. I would need other games, outside of ArcSys, to show lots of interest (from both US and Japan) to make renting a second day worth it.

  6. Let it be said that I wish I could get a shoutout to each person individually, but because I'm so busy I don't get to meet and play everyone. You all have my respect: you came out to NEC and made it an absolutely godlike event. Without competitors a tournament is nothing. We could have the best stream, tons of prizes, and a huge pot bonus, but it would all mean nothing without competition. You guys made the decision to come to NEC. For some of you that was a lot of money and time off from work/school. You're all fucking godlike. I can't stress that enough. Eric - I know get on each other but as you said it's all out of love. Thanks again for all you do. You give us the space and time to play the games we love and we couldn't ask for much else. You're the best TO around, period. Keep doing what you do. C0R/DaiAndOh/Fox/Biscuits/NobodyEXE - Thanks for helping me run brackets guys, especially C0R and Fox. Without you guys the tournament wouldn't have happened. I'm not even joking. I didn't expect that many entrants for each game, and you guys filled the gaps without hesitation. Stay godlike. I started to write individual shoutouts but I realized it would take me days to write down everything. To everyone that I met, played, chilled with: thank you for this experience. Jais - You get a special shoutout: STAY FUCKING GODLIKE. Thursday nights before NEC should become a thing, and so should staying till Monday. That is all.
  7. Numbers to get to the Copabanana tonight. Tip your drivers.
  8. Guys, make sure to post up what rooms you're in once you check in. Lots of people are coming in tomorrow night.
  9. Yeah man. Can't wait. I don't know how many of the Jersey guys are going to be able to make it out. A lot of them dropped off a few years ago. I'm going to be hounding you for Zappa stuff all weekend. Be prepared.
  10. IMPORTANT NEC INFORMATION: IF YOU PRE-REGISTERED FOR BBCP, MAKE SURE YOU BRING YOUR PAYPAL RECEIPT, IT WILL DISCOUNT $10 FOR YOUR TEAM! PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD!
  11. You guys should all post your room numbers when you get in, and if GG is being played there. I will probably have GG in my room Thursday night. I'll post my room number here when I get in, probably around 8ish.
  12. Pre-register for your badge online so that you get the discount. It's more expensive when you pay at the door. Bring your PayPal receipt. Also, if you signed up for BB you'll be refunded.
  13. Guys, tentative schedule for all games can be found here: http://bigegaming.com/nec-14-schedule/ Saturday BBCP 3v3 Pools [up to top 4] ($30/team) Start Time: 11AM GGAC+R Singles [Pools and Finals] ($10) Start Time: ~5PM (End of BlazBlue Pools) P4U Singles [Pools and Finals] ($10) Start Time: 1PM Sunday Top 4 BBCP 3v3 on the main stream! BBCP Singles [1$ 2/3 Single Elim] Start Time: TBD P4U 2v2 [$2/team Single Elim] Start Time: TBD GG 3v3 or 5v5 [$?? Single Elim] Start Time: TBD Pool assignments will be posted once sign-ups are closed. All tournaments Sunday are single elimination because we won't have time to run full double elimination tournaments. They will be cheap to enter, so there's no reason not to unless you're leaving early that day. They are there for fun and to give you something to do on Sunday without taking too much of your time or money. I will let casual setups stay until we have to start breaking down tables. All side tournaments Sunday have a start time of TBD, and their start times will be determined that Sunday morning at 10AM during sign-ups. If you're not there to sign-up, tough luck!
  14. According to a very reliable source: "Shitty laggy ones."
  15. I don't expect people flying in to take their monitors as well. That's too much. If you want to bring consoles and games I can't tell you that you can't. I'd rather people flying in not have to bring anything at all. C0R, I'll let you know if we can't do without your consoles, but as of right now we're looking pretty good.
  16. Monitor: St1ckBuG (x2), Amadeous, Biscuits, VR-Raiden, Canada (x3), Nas, Antiquarian [Total: 10] BBCP: Amadeous, Biscuits, Mynus, VR-Raiden, Canada (x3), superscience, stinkymonz, Nas, SuperJ, shtkn, Antiquarian [Total: 13] P4A: Biscuits, Mynus, VR-Raiden, Canada (x3), superscience, stinkymonz, SuperJ, shtkn, Antiquarian [Total: 11] GGAC+R: Amadeous, Biscuits, Mynus, VR-Raiden, Canada (x3), superscience, stinkymonz, SuperJ, shtkn, Antiquarian [Total:12]
  17. I need to start making a list of who can bring setups. All of BB, GG and Persona will be on PS3. I need PS3 consoles with GG+R, Persona and BBCP. Not to mention monitors. Step up people.
  18. There's a good chance finals will be on Sunday for GG and BB. We in there.
  19. GGAC+R RULE-SET REGARDING MACROS First and foremost: The winner between two players is determined by who wins the match. A match is the best 2 out of 3 games. A game is best 2 out of 3 rounds. 1). Macros are banned by default. 2). Both players pick their characters. (Note: you will be character locked for this game from this point on.) 3). While on stage and music select, each player states whether they want to allow macros. Both players must agree to allow macros for them to be allowed for that game. 4). If buttons need to be changed (or checked), enter the game, change buttons, and then return to character select. Both players are required to pick the same characters as they did in step 2. 5). Repeat these steps at the beginning of each game. 6). If someone somehow manages to sneak using macros by you after they've determined to not be allowed: that is your fault and not mine. Note: You are still allowed to switch characters if you lose, but after you choose your characters in the next game and determine if macros are banned: you are locked into playing those characters for that game. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>OR<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< You can all just not abuse anything ridiculous? But I know that won't happen. My reasoning: -I don't want to ban them completely if both players don't care. -I know people will do that Justice shit just to be cute. It only takes one of you assholes to ruin it for everyone. -Some people have this pozerwolf mentality that this will somehow change the whole way that GG is played, give everyone cancer, and then implode the Sun... which it won't. The same players will keep winning and all the whiners will stay mediocre. -This is easier than me policing specific uses of the "glitch" that I consider outrageous and DQing people because of it. -I don't want to risk sacrificing this first major to the wolves, especially when finals will be on Team Sp00ky's stream. We're trying to get more people interested in the game, not laugh at it. Originally I wanted to let it rock just to see if it really did change anything (since seeing some stupid secret tech would be godlike). But, there was another part of me that also wanted to ban it completely. In the end I know that a lot of people won't care about this glitch unless they're playing against Justice, so I assumed that most people will just allow them (hence the rule-set that I came up with). It's also pretty evident that inside your local communities there won't need to be a rule regarding macros and that this is just a major-only thing. What most pad players need to take away from this is that anyone could potentially ban macros that you use, even though you're using them the way they were intended. There's also a pretty good chance that other majors outside of NEC will ban them completely, so you might want to start getting used to a new config. I personally won't be the one to force a new config on you. I wouldn't want you to force a new config on me either. The rules I choose won't be discussed in this thread, and any comments will be deleted. If you have something to say, message me on Skype, Twitter, AIM, or send me a PM/visitor message. See you all at NEC. Book your rooms damnit.
  20. BlazBlue will be 3v3. Double elimination. You can have multiple of the same character on a team. You can even have same character teams. Persona and Guilty Gear will be singles. The usual tournament format. I have not decided on the use of macros yet for the GG tournament, and it will NOT be a topic for discussion in this thread. Friday night we won't be running any tournaments at the Copabanana, but we will have drink specials and some setups for people to play on. Look for ward to it. It was a lot of fun last year with the JP there, and I'm sure it'll be awesome again this year.
  21. If things go as planned it would be cool to have something at the Copa again. We'll see what happens.
