  1. Strictly speaking, Golbez and a few other characters could do inescapable BP - BP - HP combos, but those involved dodge canceling, which is probably the hardest kind of move cancel I've ever seen (They're basically all 1-frame inputs IIRC). ⌐_⌐

they're actually incredibly easy for the most part, there aren't exactly a bunch of 1-frame anythings in Dissidia

Tidus, Cloud, Zidane, Golbez, Bartz, WoL, Garland, Firion, Onion Knight, Sephiroth... pretty much every melee character has dodge cancel combos except I guess Squall and Jecht but Jecht has his own combo system and Squall has a bunch of links and he'd be even more broken if he had real dodge cancel combos instead of traps/resets. Terra/Bartz holy glitch combos are dodge cancel combos as well. Almost every character has EX cancel combos (maybe everybody but I don't remember if, say, CoD has 'em), there are lot of links in the game as well.

And then there are stupid spacing/stage specific combos like Tidus wall slam combos off that ground tackle-to-kick move or Ultimecia-on-Pandemonium ceiling combos.

And everybody has to dodge cancel melee stuff anyways if you don't want to get EX bursted.

  2. yeah I mean, tokido obviously knows his combos and mixups, and is a very solid player overall. But, yeah, damn, BB is not even his main game and he goes to america and wins. kinda makes you think

Did Cali suddenly get good at BB when nobody was looking, or were people seriously thinking that a guy who qualified for BB in Japan (and was considered by some to be a favorite to win the whole thing at one point) was going to drop a set to guys who didn't even place top 2 in the US SBO quals?

I mean let's be real, the American BB scene is the freest of the free in the land of the free, and Cali isn't even the best of that bunch.

anyways <3 Zong for being the bestest Cali player and <3 Dacidbro for giving Tokido more gimmicks with everybody's favorite broken character

  3. Cathy may be stupid in that fuck-huge mech of hers but damn if she isnt fun to tro-...I mean play as. lol

Anyway, counter picking the Tyr Geist seems to be an effective way to pacify Cathy's awesomeness. Smart Cathy players have found a way around this though.

"Counter picking with Tyr" was like week 1 gimmicks that aren't relevant anymore. If you want to pick a sub-par Arcana to "counter pick" Cathy, there are better picks than Tyr.

  4. I hear a lot of noise out of EC, I guess if EC's finest couldn't win a qualifier where the only competition was Kidviper/Kensou, it makes TOTAL AND COMPLETE SENSE that it will be FRAY when they get to play in a tournament where there is more than one team of people who actually play the game.

Sorry to burst your bubble but the SBO qualifier at UFO is for Super Battle Opera, not the Special BB Olympics. I hear Stickbug already qualified for that SBO, EVERYBODY'S A WINNER

  5. I"m confused guys. I've watched a ton of videos and it doesn't look like this game has much depth at all.

Maybe some one can maybe explain some of the mechanics for me? I've done some searching around and all I get are reviewers saying get this game if your a gundam fan.

I'm curious to see how much depth this game has.

    LATE REPLY

Dunno what you mean by "depth" since everybody has their own made up definitions for what makes a game DEEP. If you mean the game has no depth because they got rid of the underwater stages from RvZ2, I wholeheartedly agree, cities aren't DEEP like oceans mannnnnnnnng

If by "depth" you mean "complexity," then I dunno what part about "2v2 aerial footsies using lasers and boost cancels, primarily focusing on teamwork, positioning, and boost management" looks like it doesn't have much depth.

  6. This actually describes me perfectly. Before I found this site, I sucked ass on GG and BB, and I was completely lost on MB:AA before I found Melty Bread's wiki.

So yeah, I'm not the kind of player who knows what to do just from seeing a character in action, but the kind that requires much learning.

with that kind of attitude you probably still suck at GG/BB/MBAA

there's like no good source of AH3 info in English atm (there's some effort being put into that but it's mostly people who have just started playing) and the Japanese wikis don't have a ton of content, so unless you want to sift through a lot of moonspeak in random BBS your best bet is show up to UFO and play and ask the good players for info/help
