  1. I think going character specific bans is the absolute wrong choice. There's just too much potential for drama and confusion because it will be up to individuals who probably don't have enough total knowledge (let's face it, there's 25 characters and 625 matchups) to decide whether or not a character with macros enabled is broken or not. "Baiken is too stupid with Macros." "No, it's fair, you still have to input the 421." "Justice double missile wall is too strong." "No, it only improves her already good matchups." "I can't hit Michael Sword/Tatami FRC on pad without a Macro!" "Too bad, play a character that has macros enabled." "Why is the Axl player allowed to infinitely negative edge his counters on block/wakeup with a macro when I, the Justice player, cannot?" This thread is more or less proof that we can't agree on the majority of really basic things, so the further you go into it, the worse it will get. Believe me, going character specific is not a compromise that will help at all.
  2. There really is no choice but to either allow macros or ban them completely. As 4r5 pointed out, it's impossible to enforce anything in between. Take the Justice glitch, is a judge or opposing player going to be able to tell the difference between a Heavy Slash and a Dust NB done twice in a row? It could definitely matter if you just blew the opponent away with a CH Michael Sword and you want two offscreen NBs to land on the same spot one after another. Would someone stop the game right there and be like "HEY DID YOU DO TWO OF THE SAME NB?" What about using the glitch to summon a second Punch NB slightly before you're able to normally as opposed to having two of the same ones on the screen? You'd normally have to let first punch NB blow up to summon a second one, but what if I summoned the second NB then let the first one explode, making the space between them slightly tighter? There's no way you'd be able to tell in an actual match unless you're the one doing it.
  3. Sign me up for GG and BB. I am doomed since I haven't touched either of these versions in half a year. Anyone for a P4 exhibition with the Japanese Players after Finals on Friday (Teams, Tug of War, Kumites, etc)? What about on Saturday? I want them to give everyone the opportunity to play with the Japanese as much as possible while they are here, but I don't' want to conflict with anyone's schedule.
  4. Added the signup info, just come see me, I'll be around the entire time.
  5. Day Before NEC Japanese Player Kumite As I'm sure you're aware, we are going to have some high level Japanese players in attendance for this event and everyone wants a crack at them, so I feel the only fair way to do this is to get a Kumite going with each player for each game. Entry Price: 100 Yen (Or $1.25) Rules: 2 out of 3 Rounds, Single Game Prize: Winner takes a % of the pot dependent on the number of winners Stream (if applicable): http://www.twitch.tv/Bibiquadium Schedule (All Times EST): Souji [blazBlue]: 8:30PM-9:30PM Dora [blazBlue]: 9:30PM-10:30PM Intermission: 10:30PM-11:00PM Kirisame [Persona 4]: 11:00PM-12:00PM Souji [Persona 4]: 12:00PM-1:00PM Due to time constraints and for general fairness, admission into the Kumite itself will be done via lottery. We will likely choose 20 players per event, though if it goes very quickly, we shouldn't have a problem doing more. You will not have to pay if you are not chosen to participate, but this is the only fair way to determine who gets to play in the event. You will be given preferential treatment if you happen to get the short stick in one of the events, but I cannot guarantee ANYTHING as we have a ton of players and only 4-5 hours to get through everything. To sign up, see me at the venue. I'll be looking very handsome in a miku colored baseball cap.
  6. You guys need to make it out Friday. We're want to get a Kumite going with all the Japanese players and YOU MUST BE THERE.
  7. I'll be there Thursday. Well, you know how it is. Edit: So will TheBiter.
  8. Greetings denizens of the Persona 4 and BlazBlue scene. I’m pleased to present you guys the opportunity to fly out to NEC this year and participate in the biggest and best East Coast tournament! We will be providing ONE plane ticket for both P4U and BBEX, which will be determined by two separate double-elimination tournaments! Regardless of whether you intend to participate in the final qualifier, I hope you will attend either this event or one of the fundraiser events to help support the event itself! Live Stream: http://twitch.tv/xiei Date: Saturday, October 20th, 2012 Time Schedule: Registration Begins: 1:00PM BlazBlue Continuum Shift EXTEND Tournament Begins: 3:00PM Persona 4 Arena Tournament Begins: 5:00PM BlazBlue Continuum Shift EXTEND Top8: 7:00PM Persona 4 Arena Top8: 8:00PM Location: Super Arcade 1211 North Grand Avenue Walnut, CA 91789 Registration All registration will be on-site before the event begins. There is no online registration or pre-registering for this event. NEC is on December 1st and 2nd, 2012, so you MUST be available at least from November 30th to December 3rd to travel! Registration Fee $5 Venue + $10 Entry Per Tournament Prize: 100% Covered Plane ticket to NEC 2012 in Philadelphia P4 Extra Prize: MadCatz Triton Headset BBEX Extra Prize: Hori BlazBlue Extend Xbox 360 Stick Airfare will be fully covered for the tournament winners. No pot split; entry fees be used entirely to cover the plane ticket. Prize Rules: - The winning player of each tournament will receive an airplane ticket courtesy of myself. You must take a round trip flight from the U.S., departing from and arriving back to one major U.S. airport of your choice. I personally will be flying from LAX, so if you wish to accompany me, that option is available. The flight will be to and from Philadelphia (PHL). This of course means, regardless of whether you are from PNW, NorCal, Arizona, or Vegas, I will buy your flight! - “Gatekeeping” or otherwise “Entering the tournament without any intention to go” IS allowed in this tournament. HOWEVER, the tournament is run with the expectation that SOMEONE will be going as the winner. In the event you cannot or are not willing to go, we will determine another winner appropriately. Meaning you are entering entirely as a dream robber but someone will still go. - A player can only win ONE ticket. In the event they are the winner of both tournaments, an alternate player will be selected for one of the events. - A “Second Chance Seed” event will be held after the main tournament has finished. This is to determine alternate placement in the event the champion cannot or is ineligible to attend. This event will be a Single Elimination tournament with high placing finishers who did not win the tournament. - James Xie cannot win a plane ticket in either event. Format: Double Elimination bracket, best 2/3 matches. 3/5 Grand Finals. In Grand Finals, the losing player must defeat the undefeated player twice. We will use challonge.com to generate a seeded bracket based on tournament performance. Seed points can be obtained at the XIEVOLUTION fundraiser events or at The Runback. - PlayStation 3s will be the console the tournament is run on, any controller or joystick can be used, so long as you do not disrupt any other matches with it (I'm looking at you, PS3 Pad Players) - You may switch character if you lose a match. Winner must keep the same character - Double Blind Character select is also possible, please notify tournament staff.
  9. Tickets cost me $680. We fundraised about $500 total, between Xievolution and fundraiser tournaments, leaving me about $180 in the hole. I expected something like this to happen, so I'm cool with that, but there are a few people who want to contribute to the remainder. For those maniacs, there's this link here At any rate, you've probably seen the front page on who the winners were. For those that are going, let's train for NEC!
  10. Of course, anyone who is going from SoCal is welcome to stay with myself or perhaps shtkn in the hotel. Also, I'll be throwing in some extra MadCatz/Hori prizes from my collection. The extra prize is awarded to the highest placing player who is NOT winning the plane ticket. So a 1st place gatekeeper would get one, or a 2nd place under normal circumstances, etc.
  11. Time is flexible, but I don't know how fast or how many people to expect, since no one tells me if they're coming!
  12. I also got a room. Kevin if you want, you could just stay in mine.

  15. I'll be watching tomorrow morning, lol.
  16. Greetings folks. I've decided to take up the mantle of Tournament Organizer this year and host this year's BlazBlue: Continuum Shift EXTEND tournament at Evo. I'm thinking about allowing online pre-reg via Paypal, but we'll see if that actually pans out, lol. I'm going to be bringing my portable printer, so for this event you can expect pool type Date: Singles 10:00PM Signups 11:30PM Roll Call + Pool Information 12:00PM Winners 1:00PM Losers 2:00PM Top8 3:00PM Top4 4:00PM Finals This is a tentative timeline, but this is one that I am earnestly shooting for. If there is a significant number of participants above 128 people, this schedule will be adjusted accordingly, but otherwise you can take it as a pretty good guide for how things are going to go down. As you may know, I am an extreme hardass with start times and things rolling on time, so don't be surprised if you are unable to participate or get disqualified. 1:30PM roll call is more or less mandatory, especially if you plan to enter other tournaments at the same time. If you show up to roll call, you'll be able to change which pool you are in if there is a conflict with another pool that you are in. Regardless, the schedule of official EVO tournaments is going to be a definite factor in how we're going to coordinate start and end times. Venue: Caesar's Palace 3570 Las Vegas Blvd Las Vegas, NV 89109 Meeting Place: Tentative, however we will have a big BlazBlue banner to gather around. Entry fee: Singles: $10 Online Registration Teams: $5 Per Member Pools: Pools will be determined with a combination of location, skill, and timeslot seeding. We will do our best to avoid placing you into the same pools with numerous players from the same locale/skill, but with only 4 pools and a number of scheduling constraints, there will be some mismatches. I apologies in advance for when I tell you to hold that shit. We will likely stop pools at top 4 of each pool, if there are 4 pools. Meaning Finals will be a Top16 tournament with 8 winners and 8 losers. Ruleset: RPS for choice of 1P or 2P 2P Chooses Stage and Music, Training Stage is Soft Banned 2 out of 3 Rounds Double Elimination Loser can change character, stage is re-chosen by loser No Unlimited Characters Pad macros allowed, macro enabled controller not so much Pre-registration list 1)

    [CSE] Platinum Q&A/FAQ Thread

I probably just made a math error, or remembered it incorrectly. Regardless, between 27% and 32% the untechable time is -2F.
  18. Are you sure about that? Spark placed higher than you

    [CSE] Platinum Q&A/FAQ Thread

Just FYI, 2B > 5B > 5C hitconfirms slightly farther than 2B > 5C. There's a specific space where 2B won't connect to 5C but 2B 5B will let you hit 5C. Not important on crouchers, obviously. Sorry, there is no easy answer to this. For reference, here is a chart about proration vs untech time/hitstun. Proration Ground Air 32% 0F -2F 27% 0F -3F 22% -2F -4F 18% -3F -5F 14% -4 -6F 10% -5F -8F 7% -7F -10F 4% -10F -13F 2% -14F -17F < 2% auto tech auto tech In this game, hitstun and untechable time are related directly to current combo proration, and at 32% proration (untechable time -2F), 214C > 6C > 22C > 5C becomes more difficult to land for that very reason. Here is the sample calculation: 2B .80*.86 5B *.89 5C *.92 236B *.92 5C *.92 2C *.92 214C *.82 6C *.94 22C *.94 = 31.4% If you leave the 5B out, you would have stayed above 32%, which is why the combo isn't so bad. When starting out, what you can do is consider the proration of the combo before 236B hits, then choose a route that is reliable for you afterwards. 236B is a reliable place for you to consider how much proration your combo has, then choose a route that works beyond that specific value. For me, I have routes for A LOT of difficult values and item combinations, but if you're starting out, I recommend just having one for above 63% (2B 5C) and below 63% (2B 5B 5C) / (5A 2B 5C) and below 40% (2A 5A 5A 5C etc).
  20. Singles Results: Unfortunately, this is as far as it goes, Pool 4's bracket blew up somehow, so we don't have accurate placement for a lot of players. 21. Thanks to everyone for coming out and participating in this year's EVO! Whether you entered the tournament, commentated, watched the stream, donated, or gave me a helping hand, I thank you for your contribution to our event. We don't need main game status if we have all of you guys coming out to support these events. I apologize if I was short with anyone, I was obviously getting mad stressed out trying to keep the trains running on time and resurrecting the stream over and over again. Extra special shoutouts to anyone who gave me a hand during the event. You guys know who you are. I would have boughten you food but the only food event I went to was the Wynn buffet, and my esports donations level isn't at that level yet, hahaha. Hope to see you guys next year or at other tournaments!
  22. We're planning to head to the Wynn buffet around 1PM. The plan is to meet in front of the EVO hall before we head out.
  23. BlazBlue Top 8 is going to start at 10AM sharp. Please let me know if you have some kind of conflict so we can work something out. Teams will start at 12PM sharp as well. Sign up ASAP with Kevin, the guy in the cowboy hat. We're likely going to cap around... 16 or so teams, so make sure to get in there. If we go over 16, we'll allow it, however, only for players who have actually registered on time.
  24. I'll try to get around to it when I can. Thing is, everyone signed up with their real names instead of their handles, so it'll take me some time to convert them, hahaha. Chou and Kubo are mostly confirmed to enter, granted that they don't get shafted somehow.
  25. Another completely non-essential measure: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/content.php?388-Contribute-to-EVO-2012-Stream-Fund If you want to donate, cool, you're a cool guy. If not, it's okay, we understand, don't worry about it. There are only 4 days left for completely un-mandatory pre-registration: http://bbevo2k12.eventbrite.com
