  1. Great games, everyone. Congrats to Xie, and his team, Bond for winning the singles tournament, and DQRF for Guilty Gear. More detailed info coming up soon.
  2. Sure, bring Catherine, we can prolly set it up.
  3. So, I had a problem recording from the Guilty Gear cab in West Toast. The arcade board and the monitors are displaying at 60hz instead of the typical 48hz. I just got a program that should be able to record at 60hz, so we can start recording GG! Now I just need to get a permanent recording setup like I did for MB ^_^.
  4. Will do. We've got a lot more room now with our current layout of the arcade.

Just wanted to let everyone know that we're changing up a few things for the upcoming FFA Tournaments. Firstly, we'll be having a 3v3 tournament, and it will be a Blue Revolution Preliminary tournament. Winners of the tournament will be seeded in the upcoming Finals. Second, I will be starting the fundraiser to get a new arcade board. I will be taking $1 from each person's pot entrance fee (in BB, GG, and MB) and putting it into a pool to save up for Persona 4 Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena. Hope to see you guys there!
  6. Some changes were added to the BlazBlue 3v3 tournament rules.
  7. I posted up the new tournament. We will be having a 3v3 teams BB tournament in order to prep you guys up for the coming Blue Revolution tournament. We will also be holding a fundraiser to buy a new arcade board that we would never in our right minds get. I will be taking $1 from the pots of each tournament (except VS) and putting it into a pool to purchase a new game. The new game we will be saving up for will be Persona 4 Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena. If for some reason, it is not possible to purchase P4U (most likely reason would be NESiCA x Live exclusivity), then Under Night In-Birth will be the runner up. I'll be rebooting the best of character list, too.
  8. Great to see you back in action. I'm going to update this post with info about the next tournament once I get back from school.
  9. I just got the GG board running. It would be nice if you could bring the PS2, though, just in case something happens.

I always take late entries when I run tournaments, so even if you're late you can still make it in (but your spot in the bracket won't be randomized). We also have casuals every Friday night for GG, BB, and MB. (Our GG cab is dead atm; we're trying to revive it). I'll be running a recording equipment check tonight, just to make sure everything is working. So, I'll probably post up casuals for BB and MB (maybe even AH).

I'm bringing my copy of BlazBlue Extend to the arcade tonight, hope you guys can make it! Also, West Toast is fast approaching. It'll have all of your favorite fighters, and possibly many you've never heard of!

There were a ton of new faces, too! So, I'm still planning on doing that fundraiser in the future. We'll be taking $1 from the pot for each airdasher game; each dollar will be collected in a pool that will go towards purchasing a new airdasher arcade board. I'm going to have us take a vote, but it will be a little subjective. I'm only really going to count people who show up to tournaments or regularly play at the arcade. If some random guy who's never been to the arcade and won't come if we got a new game votes, his vote shouldn't really matter. So, here's the games I'm recommending: BlazBlue Continuum Shift Extend: Pros: It would be great to have an arcade board for this game and get more people interested in it. Cons: I would really prefer if we got a board for a game that is not out/won't come out for console. There's some games out there that we wouldn't see for years unless we got the arcade board. Arcana Heart 3: Pros: The game already has a good following, and it matches well with some of the other games we've got. This game is also cheaper than the others, and we'd be able to get it faster than most. Cons: Again, it would be nice if we didn't get a board for a game that's already out. Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena: (http://andriasang.com/objmmr/persona_4_ultimate/) Pros: This is a new fighter that is made by Arc System Works and Atlus, so it goes well with Guilty and BlazBlue. The game has name recognition and a lot of people like the Persona series. Cons: Arc has not always made the best choices when it comes to team-ups (i.e. Arc + Capcom = Sengoku Basara X). Make sure you check out the system mechanics of this game before you see if it's a good game; don't just think, "Persona is awesome, Arc is awesome, it's like peanut butter and jelly!" Under Night In-Birth: (http://inbirth.info/index.html) Pros: This is a new HD fighter by Ecole, the makers of Melty Blood. It looks really nice, graphically. Personally, I really like when a company starts a brand new franchise, it's a risky move, but it's nice to have that fresh start. Cons: A lot of people don't like Melty Blood's simplistic style. I'm not sure how much of that is carrying over into UNIB, but it seems to be an "HD Melty." Daemon Bride: Additional Gain: (http://www.examu.co.jp/dmb/) Pros: Damon Bride is a fighting game made by Examu, the makers of Arcana Heart. It has a really cool art style and a unique "Angels vs. Demons" motif. This is an update to the original which came out in 2009, so this update is something over 2 years in the making, giving it some promise. The original was not designed for HD, but the new update is for the Taito X2 system and is definitely HD compatible. This game DOES NOT have an all female under-age cast like Arcana Heart; most of the characters are male (This may or may not be a benefit =P). Cons: The original Daemon Bride has been known to not be very good in terms of gameplay.

I was just going to run GG and MB this Sunday and just BB casuals because the game is so new, but there has been such an overwhelming response for a BB tournament that we're definitely going to have one. It will start at 5PM on PS3 (so bring your joystick). The price will be $7 to enter ($5 pot, $2 house). Also, a bunch of us meet every Friday night, and I bring my PS3 for BB casuals (and AH if we feel like it). Had a lot of people last week, it's pretty exciting seeing a bunch of new faces for BB.
  16. I'll be at the arcade Friday with BB for PS3. A bunch of us are meeting together for it.

I'll see everybody there this Friday for casuals! I'm bringing my copy of CSX, and we'll be recording videos of MBCC!
  18. With all the feedback I've been getting about BBCSX, we should be running a tournament for it this Sunday. Also, I'll be taking votes from people for the fundraiser arcade board. The two front runners are Under Night In-Birth and the Persona 4 fighter. Also, can someone bring a PS2 for Sunday? Mine has been acting up (I think the lens is mis-aligned). A copy of GGAC would be great, too. I lost my copy and all I have is AC+.

We're working on it. Our board died and we need to replace the main motherboard. However it's more complicated than that, because only specific verions of the Naomi2 motherboard work. We've got spare Naomi2 boards, but none of them I've tried work. We're going to try and splice together the old non-working version with a new one and see if that works. I don't know when it will work though, I can't even give a time estimate, sorry.
  20. This upcoming Sunday, January 8th, is our next tournament. I will be bringing my PS3 and PS2 in the likely event that we don't have GGAC working yet. If anybody can bring a PS2 joystick for us to use, that would be fantastic. Also, I'll be bringing in my copy of BlazBlue CS Extend. I'm not planning on a tournament for it, but if we want to run one, that would be cool. If not, we can still run casuals. Don't forget that West Toast XV is coming up soon! I hope to see you all there. After West Toast I really plan on pushing these regular airdasher tournaments back into full swing. I've seen a bunch of new faces lately, all excited about the airdasher scene. One last thing: For tournaments in the future (not next week's and not West Toast), I was thinking of having a sort of fundraiser for new games. With the current price of games (SF4 2012 patch = $10,000 for two players, TTT2 = $18,000 plus operator pays, etc.) airdashers have become a low priority in the arcade, and the only way we're going to get new games is if we all pitch in as a scene to get it. So, I propose that when we run airdasher tournaments I take a dollar from each entry and put it into a pool. That pool money will go towards purchasing a new game. Here's a list of upcoming new airdasher arcade games to think about: BlazBlue Continuum Shift Extend Arcana Heart 3 Under Night In-Birth Persona 4 Fighter Deamon Bride Additional Gain Personally, I'd prefer if we got a game that is not out on console at all. We can all play BlazBlue now, but we won't get a shot at some of those other games for years. There's also the rumor of BlazBlue 3 in the works (November 2012?). If I had to vote, I'd vote for Under Night In-Birth. Post a message here, or PM me and let me know what you guys think.

Time for the 3rd Annual New Year's Eve Free Play Bash at FFA! On Saturday, New Year's Eve, all games at the arcade will be on FREE PLAY! It's just our way of saying thanks to the community who's supported us over the years. Hope to see you there! Address: Family Fun Arcade 10363 Balboa Blvd. Granada Hills, CA 91344 (818) 360-0419
  23. Yeah, we might do this. I'm not 100% sure how serious the problem is. The game disc and its necessary chip are fine, it's the Naomi 2 board that is the problem. We've got a ton of Naomi 2 boards, but only certain ones are compatible with certain games. GGAC is a rev. A, and most of the boards we have are rev. B. Usually all newer boards are backwards compatible, but it doesn't seem to be the case with these. I've even tried swapping the ROMs between boards to no effect. Ralph knows more about it than I do; he might be able to get it working.

For those of you who haven't heard, FFA's GG board broke down, and it's not an easy fix. I will let you all know when it's back up and running. Until then, I've installed GGX2 in that cabinet. I will still be coming every Friday night for casuals (but I can't make it on the 23rd because of Christmas family stuff). I've been practicing a lot of the new Melty Blood, and would love to get more games in of that. My copy of BBCSX for PS3 is in the mail and when I get it I'll be bringing that as well.
  25. I'm really sorry, the problem seemed like it could be fixed before the tournament, so I spent hours working on it beforehand. I didn't know it wouldn't work until about 1 hour before the tournament was supposed to start. Correct. Aside from it being Christmas Day, the Guilty Gear AC board is still down The next date will probably be on January 8th. Hopefully we'll have GG up by then. We will not have the Extend arcade board for West Toast. We will be running the game on console. As far as getting the game in the future, the 2012 patch of SF4 kind of hurt that. Though the board for BBCSX is cheaper than the SF4 update, the 2012 patch is more important (and we need 4 of them). Blame Capcom being assholes for us not getting BBCSX for arcade However, if you'd like to play the game and won't be able to get it for console. I will be bringing my copy every Friday night for our usual casuals. But, i can't make it this Friday because of a family Christmas gathering.
