God I know. The worst are the ones where they take the chip from the controller, bend out all of the pins and solder straight to that. The main reason we're doing PS3 is because of controllers. PS2/PS3 adaptors work well and a lot of people use the PS2/PS3 controller itself for BB. PS2/PS3 controller >> XBox 360 controller for fighting games. Also, it fits with the same controllers we'll need for MBAA.

Maybe if they just give him say 2 vulnerable frames at the beginning of that move for the patch. Ragna has retarded priority I love how I 5C (my long range horse attack) so that the attack is set to hit Ragna the instant he recovers off the ground. He DPs, and hits me into a combo... That's not supposed to happen! When you wake up you're supposed to block >.<

If we have as many people next time we will be running a PS3 (or two) on the side to make things go by faster. Loser's Round 1 and 2 took for-ev-er! If we do, BRING YOUR OWN JOYSTICK!!!

Hopefully the fires won't block people from getting to FFA tomorrow. The 1000 in 1 machine that has Street Fighter: The Movie is more than likely going to be down tomorrow, so no casuals for that, sorry. REMEMBER TO BRING A MEMORY CARD TOMORROW! If you need to get your PS2 modded for MBAA, be sure you bring a PS2 Memory Card. I think it will end up wiping all the data on it when you copy cards, but I'm not sure. Just to be safe, bring one that you wouldn't care if you lost all the data on it. To cover my tail: These modifications are for use with legally purchased copies of Melty Blood Actress Again. I do not endorse any illegal copying of the game, and if you want to discuss how to play illegal copies please do not do it on this board. I'm pretty sure it's against the Dustloop Terms of Service. If you want to buy MBAA, play-asia.com is a great website to buy imported games.

Noel = Knock you into the air, is under you before you land ready to 6A. Jin = Ice-car noobs can still beat you >.< Tager = 2 hits and any opponent dies, but your huge combo that you do on him that you can't do on anybody else still doesn't do much... Litchi = Are you in a corner fighting against Litchi? You are dead. Taokaka = Oh, you're trying to block high/low mixups? well try forward/back mixups at the same time. Good luck starting a combo because I'm flying all over the place! Rachel = ...You did something? I just 6A'd and it beat whatever you tried, oh well, let me continue with this combo for 3,500 damage. Oh wait, let me add a barely prorated super in there. Nu = SwordSwordSwordSwordSwordSwordSwordSwordSwordSwordSwordSwordSword Arakune = Are you cursed? How about now? Yes? BEEEEEEEESS!! Hku-Men = Just three hits, that's all I need... Carl = 2C -> 8D -> 2C -> 8D -> 2C -> 8D -> j.throw -> 8D -> j.throw -> 8D -> j.throw -> 8D -> j.throw -> 8D -> j.throw -> 8D Dead... Bang = Command throw -> RC -> command throw -> RC -> command throw. Good luck at guessing which attacks are high and which are low! Ragna = You are doing a 5A against me? well let me just 263C and it will be that, then I'll hit you with a fist that is half invisible and keep comboing you. BTW IT(Ike Takeda for short), Carl's health is less than Ragna's, and Nu's is equal to Ragna but she may as well be less because Ragna gets health back. P.S. I'm doing a bunch of laundry today, after that I'll be heading to FFA for some matches. And if anybody wants to bring MBAA I'll play that, too =P. P.P.S.: Good games yesterday AGnat. Sorry I missed a bunch of you guys. I had to go early because of something. I was planning on coming back, but I ended up not.

You'll be me?! I swear, why does everyone have to pick Ragna, Noel, Jin, Tager, Litchi, Taokaka, Rachel, Nu, Arakune or Haku-Men? They're all noob characters >.< Carl and Bang is where it's at! (Mostly Carl) @Onichi: You going to be representing Jin this time? Last tournament had 0 + 0 Jin's. @AGnat (and everyone else): I'll be playing all night tonight. I might even get off early (but let's not get our hopes up). I want to get some practice against you, AGnat, before the tournament. My Tager experience has been severely lacking as of late. @Fwooshy: There's usually a few good Ragnas who show up each tournament. Ike Takeda, Gibby and Batsu (especially). So you can see how they play. If you want good competition, come Friday nights, there's always a line then. But if you come say Tues at 2PM, there's no guarantees. Kro is often here that early though, if you want to get your ass kicked 20 wins in a row >.<

If you need more money, I can give you the $25 this Friday. I'll be at FFA all day. BTW, can't wait to play MBAA. It's a shame that Shiki Ryougi is not tournament legal, I would totally pick her up as a secondary. I need to get the required modded memory card, or whatever it is, in order to play it >.< EDIT: For you Melty Blood fans, I posted this same thread over at Meltybread.com . They're more MB centered (obviously).

<.< >.> So...... Meh, That's what I thought a year ago, but everyone kept using bi-weekly in this context, so I went with it. Thanks for the input, though. What would it mean for every other week, though? I mean I understand bi-monthly would mean twice a month, but that =! every two weeks. We'll probably come to a point where we have 3 in one month. Wikitionary says: Ugh, I'm a Physics Major, not an English Major ^_^

You can never go wrong with Friday night. There's always people here then. Typically around 8 o' clock there will always be players. But some of the good players come early too (Around 2PM), like Kro. If you're looking for other times other than the weekends, really you'll just have to come more often to see who plays. I think most players are playing online. SoCal is practically the only place in the US where people don't ask, "Arcade, wut?" Personally my schedule with school has made me play less. I'll always be here for a few hours of games on Friday nights, and we always do a lot of casuals before the tournaments start. I recommend you practice a bit on our machine just to get used to it before the tournament.

I remember editing for a fake 30 sec public service announcement project. Took me about 3 hours. Editing is a major pain in the ass. Whenever I see commercials where they fly by a bunch of clips of a movie really fast, I just think about how much editing must have gone into that little 10 second clip. @Ike Takeda: Yup, no two of the same characters allowed ^_^. I have no problem with that b/c nobody else plays my character, but for a character like Ragna or Noel, that would be really annoying. It's also annoying that you have to keep the same character throughout the tournament. That means that Seung can't go easy on you by picking one of his 7126t387 other secondary characters, and if he loses picks Tao I'll see about bringing MBAA to the arcade with me when I get it working. That way we can play on one of the console setups.

The last tournament was recorded. AGnat and Cat are working on the editing right now. IDK if they'll be able to do it again this upcoming tournament. Be warned, if you're going to record matches, you'll want to record more than just the finals and grand finals. Great matches happen in the middle of tournaments all the time, and if you aren't willing to record every match, you will miss great matches. And if you're willing to record 4 hours of matches be prepared to do a lot of editing. BUT if you're willing to go through all that trouble, we'll all be very grateful @Soniti: If you could help me mod a PS2 mem card, I would be eternally grateful.

The PS3 WILL NOT play region-locked PS2 games. PS3 games are not region-locked, but unless you have a japanese PS3, you can't play your Japanese PS2 games on your PS3. So, in order to play MB:AA, you'll either need a Japanese PS2, or a modded memory card to play foreign games. I'm looking into the modded memory card specifics myself so that I can play MBAA.

Yeah, Thank you console release! It will be on PS2, no console exclusive characters allowed. Bring your own sticks if you've got them. Again, looks like 9/13 will be the first day for this. The plan would be MB @ 1PM; BB @ 5PM every other week.

I should get a Nu and an Arakune player. We could be called Team "Die in a Fire". EDIT: Seung + Tetsuya + Sasuke = Asian Invasion. That would be crazy.

    [CT] Carl Clover Tactical Discussion/Questions/Help

Couldn't find a for sure amount for this, but... What is Carl's HP? I hear 7500, 8500, and 9500. Also, I found out that you can 214214D people on the ground. Haven't checked against every character, but I've tried on a few. Maybe it can be somewhat useful if you can combo after it, but if you throw your opponent near Nirvana, 632146C would most likely do more damage.

    [CT] Carl Clover Tactical Discussion/Questions/Help

idk how easy it is to tech out of Kof throws, but BB is definitely the easiest in terms of throw teching I've ever seen. That being said, you can only throw tech on a throw mid-combo, so it's really not all that bad. Carl can air-throw into another air-throw and keep going until his opponent techs out. I got someone with 5 or 6 of these in a row once.

I was thinking of picking up Bang, I'm not ready to drop Carl, yet. BTW, Carl v. Carl matches are really really cool. GL finding 2 Carl players, though.

    [CT] Carl Clover Tactical Discussion/Questions/Help

Hmm, I don't think you can Hold D to make Nirvana do more than one move without deactivating. I think when you do a move after holding D it instantly deactivates her. I say I think, because I thought I had tested this in the past, but now I'm having second thoughts. I'll try it again tonight. On a side note, whenever I try that throw-port into 2C, 8D loop, my teleport never comes out if I tap 22D, it seems to only work if I (Hold D) 22 (release). Maybe it's just the way I do my inputs, but I can never get it by tapping.
  23. Id_asz

    [CT] Carl Clover Tactical Discussion/Questions/Help

Typically when I play, I don't try and get the opponent into loops. If they get into the position for it I'll use it. So whenever I end up getting into a position to throw I'll work on setting up the 2C, 8D loop. The key for getting Heat Gauge while attacking with Nirvana is to know your combos with Carl solo. It takes a lot of practice, but try and get Nirvana moving or teleporting while you're in the middle of a combo. In the guide I'm making for Carl I call this "Combo-porting". Also, a great strategy is the "Double Input" where you do two inputs (one for Carl and one for NIrvana) simultaneously. At the end of combos I'd recommend throwing since it doesn't scale down. And at the the end of a combo, it's pretty easy to tech out of a throw, which could be its difficulty. if they press BC twice it won't work, and if there's a long window to tech they're more prone to pressing it twice. "It didn't work! I haven't escaped yet! I'll hit it again."
  24. Id_asz

    [CT] Carl Clover Tactical Discussion/Questions/Help

He's correct. 2D hits high. However, most players know to STAY AWAY FROM THE DOLL! Still, if I see thm next to Nirvana blocking low, I'll use it.

    [CT] Carl Clover Tactical Discussion/Questions/Help

236D? do you mean 41236D or 623D? It seems like Carl's forte are his loops. There's different loops for different situations. However, they take lots of practice >.<. I'm having trouble getting them in when the other player is trying to kill me like crazy. I'm losing a bunch of matches on purpose because all I'm trying to do the whole match is start a loop so I can practice it. It's pretty discouraging.
