    [CT] Hakumen Thread

Thanks for the post, I think translations are interesting. One thing though, I've ready many times before that Haku-men's sword was named Zanma: Okami, however with the same translation. Is it just different readings of the the same kanji or something? Also I've got a good deal of experience in translations myself, especially poetry, so since you provided the literal meaning I thought I'd just give my 2 cents on what I think sounds the best to me. Forgive me if I stray too much from the original words but in my eyes this a lot like poetry, you're trying to evoke a specific image or emotion in a few choice words. I think "Devil Killer: Howling God" sounds best for his sword. Maybe because "Vampire Killer" from Castlevania is stuck deep in my head from my childhood but I think its a good manly, stoic name for a hero's weapon to emphasize the killing aspect of the weapon with a simple word. Maybe something like slayer or slasher would be better but I like killer. Howling sticks a bit closer to the original "cry out" you mentioned than roar does, and it also evokes his fox/wolf symbol. God is just a more powerful word than spirit, so I thought it fit better (since it seems to me the two are interchangeable to some extent to the Japanese). For zantetsu I think "Remaining Steel" works great, in the right context. Steel cutting slash is also a powerful image but I think they did intend "remaining iron/steel" and here's why: Haku-men is an ancient hero with unfathomable power but in CT when he comes back from the void he can use hardly any of it. Since zantetsu is his most powerful non-distortion attack it makes sense to think of it a remnant of his ancient power, with iron/steel used as a synecdoche for sword, and with sword being a metaphor for power. As for kokuujin, I'm really not sure what was meant by the original words, but would something like "field" work better than "camp"? In English field is often used referring to an abstract area, like magnetic field, electric field, vector field, etc. So maybe "Void Space Field"? As for Shippu and Yukikaze I think "Hurricane" and "Snowstorm" work best to get across Haku-men's power.

how much more hit-stun does fatal add? Isn't it 2 frames on every attack? I'm just wondering how much damage you could pull off if you did not get the fatal.

When you say 6A has no invincibility at all does that mean no throw invuln as well?

no, ease has nothing to do with it, especially not at a high level its the fact that if you land enma you're guaranteed your 2 stars back from the combo. Not only that but unlike the old j.C finish, new j.C finish gives better oki and movement than 6C. People have also started doing renka (1) > kishuu~enma off of 2B and 2A and the like, because instead of spending 3 stars for gurren > 6C you spend 4 but get back 2 and have better damage and positioning.

When you only need one more round win to take the match (opponent's wins are irrelevant in CS), the opponent is at 35% or less health, and you have 100% heat and at least 1 burst. Like qwerty said your portrait will flash white when you can do it.

if that combo works that's INSANE, someone needs to test that asap

I really don't notice the rings at all during matches so I had to test it myself just now to be sure, but the ring does appear when you kishuu under Ragna's 5B, at least in CT. I have no idea if they changed it for CS. I think what happened in that video though is the j.C just whiffed. Bang's j.C only has 2 active frames but he keeps his leg extended for a little while afterwards, so its entirely possible for his foot to overlap but not hit. I also tested this in CT and its the case, but once again I'm not sure about CS.

wait, I thought the circle indicators always came out on any kind of invincibility? Like in CT kishuu also has upper-body invuln and I'm pretty sure the circles appear there.

you can actually link to 5C from CH 5A AA but hit-confirming that is a bitch. edit: it only links on CH against an air opponent, I was a little unclear

j.D is made useless in CT by hotaru (and also his 6A to an extent). air to air if you think they're going to attack you may as well use hotaru which is much safer and better pay-off, otherwise air throw. The reason it will be good in CS is because of the majorly adjusted risk-reward from it, and the fact that you don't have 6A to use anyway. It does high damage and you can do pretty much any combo off of it.

his new voice set is alright, its certainly calmer but just as intimidating imo. I haven't heard it enough to really form an opinion, but really anything is better than his godawful english voice.

Just get rid of the CT stuff completely imo, or just lock them and leave them there for anyone that's interested. Also I don't think Haku-men is overpowered, he seems about right. I only wish they hadn't made his mid-range so simplistic, although its more a problem with the game itself than just him. In the end it seems Arcsys wanted him to be Slayer with Johnny's sword and that's about where he is now. I think giving him both j.C and 4C may have been a bit much though, they probably should have made one of them a cheap 1-star special or something.
