[CP] News & Gameplay Discussion (Old)

Yeah, I mean BB, I've seen the GG ones already. It seems like the kind of thing someone would've written down. Some guy on gamefaqs said the GG results were 1. Bridget 2. Sol 3. Dizzy 4. Ky 5. Baiken 6. Chipp 7. Johnny 8. May 9. Jam 10. Slayer but nothing on BB.

So, do we know the results of the BB character popularity poll? I can't find them...

    [VS] General Discussion

I'll take that as a no. From what I hear about the 3rd Strike scene, it seems kinda of similar. I wish I had been able to have that kind of experience with VF while I was in Tokyo, but my combined lack of Japanese skills, and fear of people in general made that kind of impossible for me. Also, if you can afford a taxi you are rich, and I am angry with envy. The couple times I missed last train I just stayed out all night. I mean, it's only like 4-5 hours...of pacing around, going in and out of conbini's, and maybe stopping at a Sukiya, and eating a beef bowl really slowly because it's cold and drizzling outside. Although on the bright side, when the only guy working there accidentally knocked my tea over, he was grossly apologetic, and gave out free ice cream! ...I'll stop the off-topic rambling now, I just miss Japan is all.

    [VS] General Discussion

There's like 5 Club Sega's in Akihabara. Did you play at Taito HEY on that machine where all the buttons seem to work fine on their own, but somehow refuse to register when you try to do EX moves. Because I was pretty baffled by that thing. (only played one game on P2 side, or whichever side is facing the wall)
  5. A big plus to Extend is that, with Mu and the DLC available on-disc, you can bring it to someone elses house, and play it on their PS3 / 360 even if they don't have a save file. That always killed me in CS. I could never use my main.
  6. I know they already do that, hence 'further'. As a viewer, I find it painfully boring for every match to take place on the same stage. It's part of why I never found competitive MvC entertaining.
  7. Ug, the Fetus of God thing is just going to further encourage people to pick nothing but the default stage.

    [VS] Simple Q&A thread

After losing like 8 matches in a row last night with Q-Bee, I've come to the conclusion that I have no idea how VS is supposed to be played. Bleh. I wish I could use Bishamon in it, but for whatever reason he just feels too different than in VH, or the game itself is too different that I can't make him work at all. Everyone says Q-Bee's command throw is broken, but the game is so fast it seems like there's never an opportunity to land it...

Definitely. I was surprising with how much I liked KoF13, but the netcode was literally the worst of any fighting game I've played, including CvS2 on original Xbox. I've fought another living breathing person in BB in the USA all of once, but the scene over here in Japan seems pretty healthy! At least in Akihabara, where I usually go. The Tokyo Leisure Lands both have like a dozen Nesica cabs, and there's always a bunch of people playing. I get matches online in CSEX faster than I did in regular CS (in the US) too. Too bad I leave in a month. It would've been neat to take this opportunity to hone my skills at one game in particular, but with BB, and VF, and like 5 bemani games I like, plus shooters...it just wasn't possible. Also, there are barely any KoF cabs over here.

Yikes, 4 characters sharing a stage is no good at all. I was gonna say Hazama/Relius/Nu/Izayoi, but I figured some of them only went to that stage because they were arcade mode bosses. Well, I'm sure they'll make some more stages for the home version. And maybe it won't force character stages in ranked this time around? Maybe? Possibly? Please? I seem to be player 2 improbably frequently (like, 4/5 times), and it's almost always Ragna when I'm not, so like, basically when I play ranked I go to one of two boring stages.

I keep thinking this game doesn't have enough stages, but offhand I can't recall what everyone's stage is. Does anybody know? I know Jin/Hakumen share one, as do Arakune/Tao, Azrael/Bullet, Rachel/Valk, Amane/Bang, Mu/Noel and or Carl or Makoto or Platinum or somebody (definitely somebody).

Mu's DD laser is faster? I guess that explains why my desperation DD to run in strategy never works anymore. Oh well, it was a crappy strategy anyway, but it worked a lot because people don't know how to fight Mu.

Well, one way or another, he was pulling it off a lot better and more frequently than most people I've encountered. [edit] To the above post; I don't usually do that (if I'm playing well), because Hakumen is the usually the one trying to close to the gap, so I just jump up (or back) and C. It usually works.

1 - I know what a blue beat combo is, that is why I specified blue beat combo. Generally, when a combo starts to blue beat, it isn't capable of carrying on for much longer, which is what I was getting at with 'his blue beat combos last forever'. The holding the button thing is good to know (I thought i had heard that, but wasn't positive), but like, techs can be baited by players who really know what they're doing. 2 - You make it sound so easy. He got me right as I was starting an air dash. Maybe I still could've escaped, but the pressure~ 3 - I realize that, but it still seems faster than it used to be. Toward the end I as adjusting (hence, winning the last match), but he kept getting me with it in the first two. I'd like to think I'd be more on top of this stuff, but I try not to spend more than 1,000 - 1,500 yen per arcade visit, and bemani games are usually a safer investment because anyone worth fighting in BB is probably going to beat me at least once before I beat them.

Incoming ramble. As someone who hasn't kept up on Mu tech at all since the game came out (since CS2 came out, really), I was happy to discover today that you can cancel 6B into 6C. I'm sure literally everyone already knew that, but it's certainly making me perform less poorly in general now that I know. Combine that with 214D (if you have steins in the right place), and you can actually get some decent damage off it! Now I just need to figure out what one does with 63214 B. I've only played a few dozen real matches, due to no money, but I finally played a competent Hakumen today. I think I get why that guy is top tier, man, he's scary. The guy had 300 matches, and 200 or so wins, so he was probably competent (I hope). I fought him 3 times, and won the last time, but lost the two previous times. All of the matches were very close though. One round, he basically took 75% of my life off in like one blue beat combo. Maybe I just don't know how to approach him right, but he's got scary blue beat combos. Screw up once, and you're stuck for another 5 seconds. He kept countering my stein stuff with his D super too. Could he always do that? I've fought tons of Hakumen online in CS/CS2, but most of them were bad, so I wouldn't know. Also, his (new?) aerial straight down thing is really intimidating, and I feel like his aerial moves come out faster than they used to (I've played virtually no CSEX, but once again, in CS/CS2, I fought a ton of Hakumen online, so I'm pretty sure I haven't forgotten how to time Mu's aerial C to beat Hakumen's...it's not impossible though, maybe I did.)

I haven't fought any real Tao's yet, but I was playing score attack route D, and nearly lost to Tao who was mostly projectile spamming, it was really weird. I don't like it.
  17. That'd be neat. Colors are the least of my worries, though more colors that don't drastically alter the characters hair colors would be nice. Not sure why all 'anime' fighter seem to think that's mandatory all the time. If there's another loctest in Tokyo, hopefully I hear about it ahead of time. I saw the sign for it on a machine at HEY the other day, and thought 'ooh, loctest?', and all it said was 'COMING THIS WINTER', or something. Also, I'm terrible at this game and haven't played it at all since the US version came out, so my potential participation would serve to enlighten no one but myself. I hope they change the system mechanics in such a way that I'm not inexplicably totally incapable of ever defending against anything / it always seems like my attacks are slower than the opponents no matter who I'm fighting, even if I use Weiss. It'd be nice if they made Maori's combos a little less impossible to do in a real match. I probably spent 5 hours learning how to do one of them, until I could get it right like 50% of the time in training, but I never even came close to pulling it off once in a real match. Granted, the online lag was kind of weird...I'll stop rambling.
  18. So uh, I know it doesn't "matter", but have the interface and stages changed at all? I really liked AH3, but the stage selection was pretty boring, and none of the music was memorable.

That combo doesn't seem like something that's likely to happen at all. Your opponent would have to be really cocky to let themselves get hit by a point blank OD explosion. Generally if I'm that close to the opponent, they're not going to just be standing there.

Here are some low res cell phone pictures of 4 of Mu's 5 default alts, because why not. Maybe somebody wants to see them, but is too lazy to go through videos. The high-res images are all of the unlockable ones right? http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y20/MIAB13327/mu2.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y20/MIAB13327/mu4.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y20/MIAB13327/mu5.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y20/MIAB13327/mu6.jpg I ran out of time, and didn't get her green one. It's uh, green. I remember thinking it looked a lot like her dlc green palette, but now I can find no evidence that such a palette exists (not the white spandex one, one where she's naked as usual, but her robot parts are like, medium green.)

[CP] News & Gameplay Discussion (Old)

Ug, the Asuka pallet was hideous in CS, and it's tweaking it slightly didn't help. Oh well, the first one, and the light blue one are ok, and the second one has a pretty nice balance. I guess I have nothing to complain about as long as I can use the Dizzy skin.

    [CP] ยต12: Gameplay Discussion

Woo, skipping CSEX paid off. I got up stupidly early today, but most arcades don't open until at least 10 so I went back to bed. I should probably go play this now...if it turns out I'm not good enough to beat the scrubs I'd been fighting using Mu I will be very sad.

Any trap(game mechanic wise) characters in BB?

Amane isn't a trap character at all. He's a keep-away then pull in and chip with drills character.

Seems to be. I was able to do it several times using the same input as before.

I feel like if Mu were as broken as the complainers say, we'd see more of her. She's more fun to use than anybody else, so I use her.
