  1. New character looks cool. Hyped as fuck for Johnny and whatever else we get.
  2. It might just be rust, I'm getting 623p out with no problems, I'm a bit sketchy on the just, but that's mostly rust.
  3. I want to point out that there's likely a quiet group that dislikes the Overdrive mechanic in the last BB title. I for one wanted to like the idea but quickly lost interest because even though it opens up new routes for things it just changes the gameplay too much for me to enjoy it. One thing I liked about old FG's (yes older BB's as well) particularly GG is you got a character and a subset fighting system and that's it. Once you learned your character you could promptly just use your tools on a needed basis without having such "fancy" gimmicks as OD and what not. (Also salty about Bangs FRKZ being the OD... i was so sad) While I don't feel it detracts from the gameplay I feel it was an added mechanic that was in no way needed. It might be better if the OD's were stuited more to each character and their needs rather than being almost entirely system based. While I don't like Danger Time either its a similar distaste though since its not overly important to learn specific DT stuff I'm a little better with it. As for FC in GG the same is more or less true. The simpler you keep a system once its outlined and functioning the better.

    The "Picking a Main" thread

For me the better to start with between Ky and Faust is hands down Ky. He doesn't have a "stance" in that Faust has Pogo and with that Ky's game can be expanded on with basics (in my mind anyway) a little more than Faust. Ky also has enough variety of attacks to give you tools while remaining simple to get a good grasp on. (He's also not a bad character at high level play IIRC)

The "Help Using a Joystick" Thread

@Bungiefan. Back when i was picking up sticks for MY PS2 for Soul Calibur 2 competitions I ran into that company Pelican as well. Had an Arcade X i believe it's called. ( http://www.talkxbox.com/hardware/plestick.jpg <--Yeah sorta like that.) Went through three of them in two weeks. They have absolutely crap quality of construction. The one I did use for the final run of my time with them stopped working with my PS2 for no reason. The parts in those things are so bad Happ parts are considered upgrades. That began my search which landed me with an original Hori Real Arcade Pro for the PS2 ( https://www.estarland.com/images/products/34/28434/49389.jpg ) The improvement over a Pelican was not night and day, it was like moving from a living shoggoth pit to a relatively clean brick house. Not perfect but rock solid. (really wish HORI had stuck with that button configuration as well) That said I'd also count you lucky the thing even still works. If you're looking for a PS3/4 stick. The Hori Hayabusa will destroy the memories of that Pelican I promise. Worth the money if you put in the time as well, I've spent the last 5ish years beating JLF's to death with no signs of them stopping or breaking, and my original PS2 HORI Real Arcade Pro still works for my friend I traded it to, to this day (really wish I hadn't done that). Id say as long as you can justify the cash to get something better it is FAR worth it.
  6. No I had the same problem yesterday. It'll hang up sometime on the initial loading screen and its just the game looking for a connection WHEN it is connected to a router etc as best as I can tell. I've just let it sit there about a minute and it continues on to the title screen eventually. Also...

    Arcade Stick vs Controller

If you're getting jump inputs out of a stick but want to use one. Just stick with using it if you're sure its what you want to do because I've had that problem recently with a switch from a Sanwa JLF to the Hori Hayabusa stick and it took me about a week or so to adjust (i'm still in the process of eliminating stupid inputs and i've been a stick user since soul calibur 2 days). Consider that length of time invested and there will be a big adjustment period. For the average pad guy it'll take anywhere from one month to three of decent playtime to get adjusted properly. And even if you prefer pad on some games (i still do for a few older titles where that was still my native controller) the stick may be your preference on others. Also if you're having problems because of handiness consider a custom box or a stick with a rotated switch assembly. Shouldn't be that difficult to do and wont do anything weird other than look funny with you playing with the stick "upside down" (its also very cheap compared to a custom case). If anyone would find it useful I can write up an article over the hell I went through converting from pad to stick back when and the various issues i ran into. Let us lefties have something we die early if statistics are to be believed.
  8. The wiki is an excellent place to find this stuff usually. http://www.dustloop.com/wiki/index.php?title=Ramlethal_Valentine_(GGXRD) But from use so far (very little) I recommend 5S for a standing poke, 2K for a quick low poke. I typically only set the H sword in Neutral until I'm convinced the character is immobile enough to utilize the S sword set. Otherwise I just use the sets for combos or oki. For Oki 6S set works fine if you can time it, and if you feel the additional pressure is needed and think you can get away with it , sometimes 6H set has good additional pressure in this instance. I prefer personally to have already set the H sword and use 2H for a bigger screen presence. I'd only raw Dauro as a full length whiff punish if you can't get anything better to start with. Now if you're having a hard time with getting used to Ram and her oddness spend a lot of time in training just learning her basic strings PPP / PKP etc: an get used to the almost alien way she plays. It took me about a solid hour to get down a few basic strings that I'd actually remember in a fight and longer to get decent combos (which I still drop a lot) The biggest part of this is know when to and when not to set your swords and against what opponent. Example, obviously Pot is pretty easy set if you stay very aware and zone. On the flipside I'd only set a sword vs say, Chipp or Millia if you're setting up for Oki or have them in the corner with hopes to keep them there under pressure. ^^^ By no means a pro's opinion. Just a guy starting with Ram and a few others for the first time.
  9. It takes about an hour of grinding that combo out to learn the timing and get a feel for it. 6P, Daruo, dash PK is an odd timing but it just gets easier the more you attempt it.
  10. Like father like son? Sorry the parallels are killing my sides.
  11. If your a looser like me you can also input a 2626 motion for Houtenjin. Im using a stick so no idea if its like 23626B or what but its pretty quick.
