What if there's a balance patch for Revelator on consoles? It'd make the playing field level again.

Not that it matters honestly does anyone really think Japan won't take this free?

I was thinking the same thing, a balance patch would level the field a little, but we'd still be learning a brand new match-up(Jack-O) and figuring out applications for the new blitz mechanic. I mean, it's not like US had much of a shot against Japan anyway, but it does kind suck. Oh well, I'd much rather have an all japan top 8 than have to watch Xrd while I'm playing Revelator.

Is the new patch today (Monday JP) or tomorrow (Tuesday JP)?

Sorry, I've been out of the loop(and can't find anything on google), there's a new patch coming? Like a full blown balance patch? Or just minor tweaks here and there?

EDIT: Unless this is the patch you were referring to:

Thanks a lot Jak D Ripr. Most of what you said is correct especially with me getting 5HS for throws. I will also direct my critiques to the appropriate thread. I have been working on instant air dash. But still can't do it when I really want naturally. And I do forget to use or shotgun alot. Grenades I feel I need some setups. I will also check out the video you put up as well!

No problem, glad I could help. Yea the IADs take some getting used to, but it'll come eventually, don't worry. One last thing, check out this series, https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLj34EySs1IeZ8GpjKW8R2T6dzI6B3GSuH they cover a lot of stuff that should help improve your fundamentals.

From what I've seen in this thread it looks like this is a good place to get possibly get advice about my game play. I was able to do a session last night online on my ps4 and using youtube streaming was able to capture some online matches. I wanted to know if possible if someone can critic or give some advice to me from my session last night. Match ups I got was vs. Sin, Slayer, Sol.

    Sin is beginning matches

Slayer starts at 24:19, Sol is at 39:00

    https://youtu.be/pvWuabARIbQ?t=24m19s

Just for the record, there's a thread specifically for critique, it's this badboy right here:

    http://www.dustloop.com/forums/index.php?/forums/topic/9867-xrd-elphelt-critique-thread-waifubros-training-center/

Now keep in mind I'm still relatively new to the character, so some of the stuff I say might be incorrect, but with that said, here're some tips.

    1. Right out the gate ill tell you this, Bridal express isn't safe on block, so you should throw it out a lot less. Cancel f.S into 2.HS, or grenade, or IAD. There's really no reason to ever cancel it directly into BE.

    2. You should use grenade and shotgun more, they're really strong tools

    3. OS your throws(I'm going to assume that's why you did so many raw HSs), input your throw as 6.S+HS, that way if the throw doesn't hit the c.S will come out, which is substantially safer.

    3. Use 5.K more, you barely throw out any lows, the overhead is never going to hit if you don't give them a reason to block low.

    4. Cancel your 6.HS's, it gives you a lot of frame advantage on block, but only if you cancel it either into shotgun or grenade.

    5. Practice instant air dashing, it's a very useful tool with her.

    6. Watch some gameplay of other elphelts, check out the video I just added to the video thread, it's about 30 minutes of really solid elph play.

    Hope these tips help.

EDIT: Lol, forgot to ask the question I came to ask. In this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LCF8gYSY48&t=6m39s LS does an IAD grenade toss, and he hits Marlin with the toss, I can't seem to get the toss to hit, it usually goes over the characters head. I can't tell if it's height, spacing, or timing dependent and was hoping to get some help.

  5. Just heard of this lost souls guy, but he's got a very slick looking elphelt. Bunch of footage of him on spookys channels but here's a set between him and Zidane

Couple things I've noticed from him:

    1. He rarely ever uses her command grab, when he's in shotgun he mainly goes for frametraps and just chip damage

    2. His main mix-up seems to be IAD j.S tbh, he uses it more than most elphelts I watch

    3. He has some of the best grenade awareness I've seen, seriously this dude really knows how to use them nades.

  6. I wouldn't read too much into FAB losing 1 match in a match-up he literally has very little experience in. I mean Nage lost the very next match with Faust and for some reason I don't imagine this'll be a bad match-up for Faust. It's gonna take a month at the very least for consistent strategies and counter strategies to start forming with this character so like I said, I wouldn't read too much into one match.

  7. hi jack d ripr, first excuse if my grammar it's weird i am not a native english speaker.
i watched your matches and have to say you have a solid defense, you are aware on blocking millia's 6k and you are trying to just defense, keep doing that
what you need improve it's your offense, try to do potemkin buster sets ups more like 2p/2k potemkin buster more also use the 6k pressure to keep the momentum and punish her options to escape from that (back dash, jump), also you can improve your damage potential for example use 5k meaty and after a 2s do 6k>hammer fall instead simply 2d.
i think you can improve that things easily if you still playing, good luck.

Thanks man, ill take that into consideration and definitely start adding in more 6ks into my pressure. You're correct, upon rewatching the video I realized in the entire first set I didn't connect a single pot buster, so that's something ill start putting more practice time into.

Hi, I'm pretty useless but I watch a lot of fights, so take the advice for what it's worth.
    - in the first matches there seemed to be too many HF's thrown out in hope. This got became less of an issue as the matches went on though.
    - your HF Break is too short, leading you to be too far away from the opponent, especially when you've done the hard work of getting them knocked down.
    - you tend to down back a lot. I do this too, and I think it's like a street fighter syndrome, waiting to react to your opponent. GG is a different beast and you need to seize momentum. Attack!
    - related to the previous point, try to control the space on front of you. Instead of waiting to react to the opponent, throw out some normals and don't allow the opponent a free run in or jump in. If you watch FAB (and I know you do) he's always doing something.

Other than that, some good blocking (which is important for Pot I feel) and when you do apply pressure it looks FAB-like. Just need to see more of it as you knocked down the opponent a lot.

Anyway good stuff. A lot of potential there!

    - Yea I was really nervous that first match so I was just doing stuff and praying it worked.

    - Ok, the issue I run into sometimes is I don't break early enough so I whiff a HF over my opponents knocked down body and just lose my oki. But i'll start working on breaking later, thanks for pointing that out, that's one thing that never even crossed my mind.

    - I'm still having issues learning how to neutral, which is probably why I play so reactionary. I'm not sure how to begin my own offence, but if say, I see Milia air dashing in at me, least then I know I need to AA. I'll start paying attention to what FAB does in neutral, especially in the Milia match-up because another reason why I play so passive is I'm afraid of whiffing one thing and having her right in my culo.

Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated.

  8. Hey guys so I ran a couple best of 3 sets vs this Milia and I was hoping I could get some feedback. I'm new to potemkin(and guilty gear in general) so a lot of the basic shit(like green blocking after air teching) is still alien to me. So any and all feedback is welcome. Just as an aside though, I don't usually go for that many dusts, this guy just has issues blocking them so I kept going for them.

The matches are at 8:00 and at 22:07, I am both excited and worried about hearing your feedback:

  9. When during a cinematic super does the game register inputs?  Does it do it at all during the cinematic or what?

No I don't think it does, particularly since your character wouldn't be able to perform whatever input it is you're trying to register anyway.

Does anyone know what the theme is that's playing at the start of this video(in the Leo vs Milia fight):

  10. So I've been working on my elphelt for a while now and she's coming along pretty nicely I think. Just a few quick questions about certain combos, first is what combo do I go for if I command grab someone in the corner while there's a grenade on the field? I ran into that situation a couple days ago and I just froze lol. The other question is about AAs, I currently do the combo listed in the front page, but I frequently see different elphelts going for all sorts of different AA combos and I was wondering if it was a height thing, character thing, or preference thing.

Finally, what's elphs "punish" combo if the opponent is neither in counterhit nor crouching state? I'm currently doing c.S f.S 5.H bridal express but was wondering if there was something better out there?

  11. Man, Fab uses FDB a lot. I guess its actually a pretty good, uh... footsie? Would it count as a footsie? A random midscreen poke.

Also its sometimes nice to see him have trouble with bad matchups, heh. Or drop combos. Not that I WANT him to fail...

Yea the hitbox on that thing is gigantic, the only reason why I don't throw it out more is because I haven't found a way to get much of it connecting midscreen. It's pretty good even in match-ups with nothing flickable.

Also, lol, it actually makes me sad when I see FAB get a 6p/megafist in a situation that I know he was going for a pot-buster since it means no amount of practice will make me not drop pot busters. Although I guess the same could be said about any move, I've seen elphelts mess up their grenade toss and that's just a 2p input.
