[CT] Carl Clover Tactical Discussion/Questions/Help

I would say that learning the kara dash would be very beneficial, you would find that it improves your mobility quite a bit. Although I'm in no position to pass judgement on you considering the quality of my own ability. Also in the "info" section I would recommend you change "A shoto takes on a loli gundam." to "A shota takes on a loli gundam.":eng101: -

That 3x3 thing sounds fun! I would love to participate as a low level if no one else has signed up yet. If there is a better person who is still considered "low-level" then feel free to pick them. -

IIRC wasn't Carl absolute bottom tier before the infinite was discovered? And even being the only character in the game with an infinite loop, he isn't top tier. -

I'd love to do some matches this weekend. I'm just gonna be giving out candy to the kiddies anyway. I know I'm not a very good opponent, and I don't think there's anything I can teach you guys from playing with me, but if we can get a couple more people in the room, I'm fine with just spectating. -
I think I have played you as well as I seem to distinctly remember your GT.

I believe buffering is when you have the input for a specific attack ready off of another attack. For example if Tager does an attack (I don't know any of his moves, sorry) and does the 720 motion while that attack is on screen he can use GETB as a follow up if he needs to. Sorry if that's not a good explanation, I can't think of a good way to put it into words right now...

For V-13 I use 236B ALOT. I'm not very good though so I don't know how helpful that advice is. Seems to get me in close most of the time though... -
Is it just me, or did his zipper get WAAAY bigger?

I don't think it's the range so much that is increased but rather the speed and downward trajectory, which make it very hard to AA. Correct me if I'm wrong though, I'm just a Carl sprout. edit: Oh you were just talking about the ground throw, whoops -
I hope I wasn't too boring for you, at the very least I helped pad your win ratio.
-
Thanks a bunch for the matches earlier Kyle. I saved all of them for reference and I'm gonna go over them later. It was a lot of fun!
-
Sounds exciting hope you guys don't mind a terrible Carl like me dropping in. I'd be happy just to spectate as well.
-
HAHA, if you took a look at my win ratio you would know that I don't have a problem getting beat over and over again. It was really great to see another good Carl player in an actual match. I think I use Vivace a bit too much when I fight Nu's but most of the time it gets me in. I watched some videos of DIO vs. a Nu player and he was jumping in a lot. Gonna work on those combos today, hopefully I get some results. Once again, great matches, it was fun! Edit: Just going to add that I live in west Texas (El Paso specifically) for anyone that wants to play.

Thanks alot! I'm going to save this as a document and print one out so I can refer to it whenever I need to. I really need to sit down and just work on basic combos till it becomes a muscle memory type of thing, it just gets kind of frustrating after an hour or so and I still haven't done 1 repetition of the basic ground loop. Also I never meant to take your color (red+white right) whenever it ended up giving me that I was trying to pick yellow+white. That wasn't working so I switched to green (my second fav). Thanks a bunch for the matches, I saved them all as references for later. Hope I didn't bore you with my poor playing.

Finally some good news, I was worrying that Carl would lose his reliance on Ada which is what made him fun for me to play. Still sort of bummed about j.2C and 5B though...

Sounds good to me!

Sorry about that, I had school tonight. I'd love to play you though, Carl dittos feel like chess to me, and I love chess. Unfortunately they don't happen to often, I've only run into one Carl I could beat, and it was close. From everything that I had heard, I was under the impression that the dustloop community was a bunch of elitist jerks, but you guys have been really nice and helpful. I've really only visited here to look up combos and frame data (Faust, Carl) so I never really got into the community any. Thanks for helping out the new guy!

I'll have to try this out as well. I just played a few matches and the srk motion tip you gave me really helped a lot. I think part of my problem is that the fighting game I play the most is Vampire Savior, and since I play Anakaris, I'm used to throwing out inputs like the fist of the north star. Taking all these tips in tonight and I'll try to get Carl's basic ground loops down. I've tried before and I was never able to get the timing right.
-
That sounds like that's exactly what my problem is, most of the time whne I choke on an input, it's because things are getting really intense. I'll try that out, thanks!

It's mostly just getting 623 ]D[ consistently, like I mentioned before I am pretty bad at fighting games in general, and I've always had trouble with shoryuken inputs. When that is coupled with negative edge, it's hard to do without thinking about it. I probably just need more practice. I play with a stick, I've had it for maybe four month's. I like to think that I've gotten used to it but I tend choke on inputs for 632146C pretty often.

Defiantly interested, I think this could help me out a lot. I'm a pretty bad Carl player but I think working with some like minded people could help out a lot.
