2. Arc System Works has announced the last loketest for Xrd's latest update will be held starting today, July 30th, and will last for the following week. Revelator adds returning character Johnny and newcomer Jack-O. In previous loketests, these characters didn't have voices, but now their voice actors have been revealed. Hiromi Igarashi will be playing Jack-O, and Wakamoto Norio will once again be playing Johnny. Slayer's previous CV, Iemasa Kayumi, has been replaced, as he sadly passed away last year. His new CV will be Takaya Hashi. In addition to the new characters, Revelator has some new stages and UI changes, but the game balance is supposed to remain largely the same as 1.1. This weekend will reveal whether or not that's still the case. Finally, the loketest also will include Sparring Mode as well as Episode Mode, which presumably lets arcade players experience story content from Xrd. For more info, check out ASW's official loketest page here: http://www.arcsystemworks.jp/index.cgi?eid=1622

They ask him about how he felt during the above moment, among other things. Also wow, I didn't realize Xrd was so hype.
  5. This week's issue of famitsu officially revealed the next Xrd Character, Jack O. One of "That Man's" trusted servants, she uses comical attacks. Not much was revealed other than a few screenshots. Here's hoping we get to see how she plays at this weekend's loke test. Is everyone excited for their new Waifu? 6. Disclaimer: This article has only been tested for Accent Core and AC+R. Though it's likely the same holds true for Xrd, this is still unproven. Let's take a moment to talk about One Frame Jumps. The fact is, what most of us understand One Frame Jumps to be simply isn't the case. I made a video a while back demonstrating how they actually function - if you haven't seen it, you can check it out below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIXuOx8WbFU To summarize: starting a jump with Faultless Defense doesn't reduce your jump startup. It does, however, put you into your blocking animation on the first frame that you're considered airborne, shrinking your hurtbox. This allows you to dodge some attacks with tighter timing, but it won't get you out of smaller gaps in a string. Brett then posed a few additional questions regarding some commonly-held beliefs. Is it true that you can only block on the first frame of your jump if you FD? Can you perform any other actions (like an attack) on the first frame of a jump? After testing it with the same method I used in the video, I found that the answer to both questions was a resounding no. No video this time (for now). Instead, I'll show here the frame count, what inputs were entered, and when they were drawn. First, to test air blocking on the first frame. Dummy Sol jumps forward with j.S against Player Potemkin.
FramePotemkin InputPotemkin AnimationSol InputSol AnimationFD Jump PO InputFD Jump PO AnimationFD Jump SO InputFD Jump SO Animation1 234 Frame 1 Frame 15 67Jump Startup Frame 1Jump Startup Frame 189101112Jump Frame 1 Active Frame 1Air FD Active Frame 113Instant Block* Active Frame 1*Air Instant Block FD* Active Frame 1*
* The game animates the result of an attack making contact on the frame after it actually makes contact. With me so far? We'll use the same system for testing actions on the first frame with Potemkin's j.P. The first test inputs the P in time to make it happen as soon as jump startup ends. Test 2 is one frame later. Test 3 is an FD Jump control.
FrameInput Test 1Input Test 2Input Test 3 (FD Jump)Input Test 4 (TK Bandit)1 2 34JumpStartupFrame15 6 789Jump Frame 1Jump Frame 1Air FDAir Bandit Frame 110Jump Frame 2Jumping Air Bandit Frame 2
So what does this mean? Only two things can be performed on the very first frame of jump state: Faultless Defense or a Special Move. Normal attacks and Slashbacks can't be performed until the second frame. Double Jumps can't be performed until the fourth! And, of course, air dashes have a minimum height requirement. This information may alter the timing of "fastest possible" rising normal overheads, so please take it into consideration. Edit: contrary to the original writing of this article, aerial special moves can be performed on the first frame of jump state. That's all I have for you, thanks for reading.

  10. For those not moon-speak inclined, @HiagoXYZ, @hc0519, and @GREATFERNMAN has been hard at work translating the system wide and character specific changes. Be sure to follow your favorite Japanese player's Twitter accounts for their up to date impressions! Also going down at 10pm EST is the 2nd part of the Kamui (JP Gods) Battle Lobby hosted by Mr. Biscuits. This weekend is all about Kantou, and Satou has graciously organized amazing players such as FAB, Fino, Hase, Endou, with the possibility of one more joining. Commentary duties may be done by Zidane & St1ckbug. Last weeks' footage can be found at Biscuits' Typical East Coast YouTube Channel, and you can of course catch the action live as it is going down on Twitch at http://www.twitch.tv/mr_biscuits.

  14. First off, the Chemical Lovers team returns to the fray with Episode 3 of Xrd Notes. Focusing on I-no, the video serves as a primer for those curious about the character and looking to try her out in this iteration. Normals, Specials, and some advanced techniques are discussed briefly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8S_lo_7xRGA&index=1&list=PLXSEVqlJkrKe2xUssIjykKwSR-9t1mUDW Coming in next is the "GG Xrd Basic I-no Tutorial" by Diarmuid aka Doonpa: An extensive breakdown of many aspects of the character. Bring out the snacks for this one because it clocks in at over 90 mins, covers mostly everything you need to know to get yourself started with the character, as well as some theory talk at the end. Graciously, time stamps are provided for each sub-section of the tutorial. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipek0i0O5mk Lastly, we have the "Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign- I-no Basic Tutorial" by f_swipes: A quick rundown of some normals and specials for I-no. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8OsR1-jjtA
  15. Alioune sets a disclaimer in the video title generally detailing how hard/easy the unblockable setups are depending on the hitbox/weight class of the opponent. Guilty Gear is historically a very character-specific combo game, and this technology is no different. Not only is this information useful for Elphelt players looking to strike fear into and decimate their opponents life bar in the corner, but is also extremely useful for players of other characters to get a feel for what the the specific unblockable setup would be on their character, and offers a chance for the anti-tech to be discovered if possible. That being said, watch these videos, get grinding in the lab (Elphelt and non-El players alike), and break down/further develop this tech! 20. This marks the first time that an Arcsys game is available to play via a streaming media service. To be expected, delay and framerate issues aside, this release may play as a precursor to what we may be seeing in the near future from Sony's own much touted, much praised, soon to be upon us Playstation Now game streaming service; which is scheduled to be available this coming fall across the PS3, PS4, PS Vita, and select Sony brand televisions. Here are some details about the GameNow service regarding these two fan-favorite titles: Guilty Gear XX #Reload Includes all of the features present in the initial Playstation 2 version of the game including Robo-Ky. Also includes a story mode arc that was not in the Playstaion 2 version. Includes a special short movie as an appreciation to fans. Guilty Gear Isuka Contains all features from the Arcade and Playstation 2 versions of the game including: 4 player simultaneous battle 2 player simultaneous training mode Robo-Ky MKII edit Color edit for all characters. As of now there is no information whether these titles will be appearing outside of Japan in any shape or form, or whether PC's running in territories outside of Japan can access the streaming service. Stay tuned for more details regarding this as they come in. Source: Mynus (via twitter), Arc System Works (via twitter), Arc System Works Official Home Page, GameNow
  21. Sin Kiske True to his GG2: Overture iteration, Sin will brandish a flagpole as a weapon as he does battle, and interestingly enough will sport a unique gauge mechanic named "Full Stomach". Utilization of his "Full Stomach" mechanic will enable Sin to perform and chain multiple special moves directly into one another. Use of his "Full Stomach" meter will deplete it, and in turn Sin players will need to recharge it manually by "eating" during the heat of battle. As of now there is no news as yet to whether Sin will appear solely in the console version of the game, in the arcade version first, or whether we will see a simultaneous release across both mediums. The Playstation 3 / Playstation 4 cross-play compatible console version is on schedule to release some time this coming fall. As more information and/or gameplay vids become available; Dustloop will keep this post updated as any new news comes in. In the meantime, enjoy these hi-res screenshots of the new playable character! Source: Famitsu, Gematsu
