JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven

Recommended Posts

Surprise, we're not getting ASB 2.0, we're getting a brand-new game!

Platform: PS3, PS4

Developer: Bandai Namco Games

Genre: Stylish Tag JoJo Action

Official website: http://jojogame.bngames.net/

Little is known about the game right now: the article calls it a tag-battle game where characters can fight in combination with one another on 3D stages. Of course, there are going to be new characters, starting with Diego Brando (VA: Takehito Koyasu) and Rudolf von Stroheim (VA: Imaruoka Atsushi). More info is coming on Jump Festa (December 20th-21st), where the game is going to be playable. Along with the newcomers, players will be able to pick Joseph, Caesar, Jotaro, Kakyoin and Josuke.

Sure, it looks more like J-Stars than a traditional fighting game, but as long as it's a fun JoJo game, who cares?

While I'm a little sad that it's not a straight-up All Star Battle 2, the overall presentation and the way they present Diego and Stroheim as new characters gives me the impression that CyberConnect2 are still very much onboard, even if the developer is listed as Bandai Namco Games. With that in mind, I'll trust that they can continue to make the most JoJo-ish games possible.

Looks like ASB 2 to me. They must have decided to go with a different subtitle due to the bad reputation the original game gained for how terribly broken and scammy it was at the Japanese launch. I'm also not confident at all that CC2 can balance tag mechanics.

It might look like ASB because, you know, it's the same devs working on the game based on the same series. If the reputation is bad enough for them to try and clear it with a rebrand, then it wouldn't be enough, so it obviously just them actually changing the game's system from the core.

Also, even though it says "Tag Battle", it doesn't mean that there's going to be a tag system, as it might as well be just a team game, again, like J-Stars.

While I do hope that it'll be considered to be "ASB2" instead of a completely different game, the best we can do is wait until the 20th-21st.

Ummmmmm....I don't think I'm excited for this game anymore. I guess when I heard new CC2 JoJo I immediately thought it'd be a gameplay sequel to ASB.

It's too bad, CC2 couldve ironed out the system and made it into a very legit fighter.

Well, they're actually working on a new ASB patch, so we can still have that. Rather than having just an upgrade of an older game, we now have two different, but fun titles.

Gotta repost my Twitter findings here, as well:

The controls:
Start/Options - pause menu
Left stick - character movement
Right stick - camera/lock-on control
R3 - Lock On/Off

X - jump
Square - regular attack
O - Puttsun Dash
Triangle - Charge Action / Gimmick Action / Combo Finish

L1 - Skill Board
L2 - Joseph Items
R1 - Style
R2 - Guard / Dodge (when tilting the stick)

- By holding L1, you can use various skills by pressing the face buttons.
- Not sure what the Puttsun Dash is, it's not on the other picture.
- You can perform a Puttsun Burst by pressing L1+R2. It blows the enemy away even if you're in midair or being hit.
- Guarding too much will, of course, cause a guard crush when your guard gauge runs out.
- You can use Dual Heat Attack after performing a Dual Combo or after a Combo Break. That is, if you have at least 1 stock of the gauge.

- The demo is indeed single-player only.
- Here is the character select screen for the demo. As you can see, you can only pick four different pairs, with each pair having a main character and a partner.
- The demo is divided into two parts: the first part is the usual 2v2 fight, the second part is a 2v1 boss fight against Diego.
- Rather than fighting you head-on, the AI Joseph tends to... You guessed it, run all around the stage.
- There are item boxes lying around the stage! It might be Joseph's exclusive mechanic, since he can get a hammer that he can use for his specials in these. And, you know, because the controls have a button exclusively for that.
- The loading text is "It's loading time, baby".
- Eyes of Heaven = stars. We all know how those are connected to JoJo, right?
- Was this in the PV? Speedwagon says it's time for the "ゴゴゴ Finish", which I believe is the name for this QTE mechanic. Also, Speedwagon's name is written out as "The Interfering Speedwagon".

Regardless of my shared misgivings on the game, it's great to see Speedwagon getting a playable appearance, even if there's no way he'd last a second against any of the other characters in canon. I wonder if he'll use a hammer like in Phantom Blood PS2.

Any hype for you? Or in general? I'm iffy on this game, but the lack of local multiplayer doesn't factor into that at all.

For me and some other local JoJo fans. Since the netplay in ASB wasn't the greatest, I took part in some locals and enjoyed them. J-Stars was better since it was a much more lenient game, so maybe I'm just being too cautious about something that's not worth it.

ASB wasn't the best game in the world, but it was fun. J-Stars isn't even that.

I would be more hyped for this game if it wasn't for the fact there is not many characters left to add. I mean diego, speedwagon, and stroheim are great but them and some of the part 6 main cast are the only major characters left that weren't in ASB. Anyone else would just be minor characters and besides the dual heat attack possibilities there is not much room for more series references either.

But it is, as long as you're not playing against the few top tier characters.

I agree, but I also think that there are a few characters from parts 5 and 7 missing. Maybe even 8? Anyways, it's just enough for a new game, not to mention that the new system makes even the old characters feel different.

I wish they would wait a bit longer so we can get more characters from part 8. Right now the only likely ones are nijimura and yagiyama. I guess whether the roster is good or not really depends on how many they keep from ASB.
