practicing the shadow loop

Recommended Posts

When practicing doing the shadow loop, what frame should I put the computer's recovery to? I tried it at 0 and I just couldn't seem to be fast enough to do it and then when I put it from 2-5 I could get it. Is it just me being a slow pad player or should I keep the frame at 2 or so?

Keep the recovery frames at zero, anything else isn't realistic to expect since your opponent should be attempting to tech out just before you make contact on each of your hits. Try inputting the motions faster, leaving less of a gap between changes in directional inputs. For example, after you let go of K, you should already be doing the qcb and pressing K again very quickly. If you do it as fast as possible, you even have a bit of time between the final S of Shadow Gallery and the next Shadow K attack, which you can use to run in a bit if you need to.

Ok then, back to training I guess. Thanks a bunch. Also, would remapping my controls help do the loop or are standard pad controls fine? I've been able to do negative edges fine in my mix ups and enders until now but this loop just seems to be getting to me.

I switched from pad to arcade to do this loop. Pad is too slow and imprecise imo for this loop to occur. And recovery frame always 0, no matter what combo.

Well after hours of practice I finally am able to do it consistently. I just need to learn ways to incorporate it into my game. Oh and is there any reason why I am having problems doing it on Sol? I can do it on everyone else with out too many issues but I seem to having spacing problems when I do it on Sol... And yeah, I've been contemplating switching to stick for awile because my practice partner(plays TE) uses the real arcade pro 2 and he is so precise in all his movements and combos. But every time I have an obstacle with pad, I seem to overcome it so I guess I just push forward.

Really switch to arcade. I don't know why I didn't sooner. You'll be able to play anywhere there's an arcade. Also you simply can't mess up, unless it's your fault. while on pad it's a hard task to do even a shoruyken properly (I'm not talking forward hadouken as most pad players do, the proper way is a Z motion ending with being in corner). Also, you're eddie. I'm sure it's much better to be holding all those buttons with your every finger you got instead of just a thumb and two fingers. And tigerknees are insanely easy to do on stick. Get the edge on your practice partner!

Yeah, I'm playing on a pad. I haven't been able to do a successful Shadow loop yet. Everytime I summon Eddie from the -K-,K,S,2D combos, I screw up afterwards. I keep doing -D- by accident. I'm inputting it as fast as I can. Any help?

A little bit late response but what the hell....

As i recall, the combo goes like this:

236-k- [k],S,2D(-k-),214K,41236S...etc

I'm not 100% sure, but it's not important..

I have found much easier way

236-k-,K,S,2D+K,214K,41236S...etc

For the normal moves D has more priority than K, so the 2D will come out. For the shadow moves, K has more priority than D, so the Mawaru will come out. And obviously, since you are in the middle of the combo, you won't burst...

With this metod it can be learned in no time, it's very easy and screw up possibility is very low.
