Bojutsu

Getting my ass kicked all the time xD

Recommended Posts

Greetings,

I've recently bought this game and it looks really really fun, once you master the controls and techniques, that is. Well, I have been practicing the basics, trying to master Sin. Bought a fight stick, it was on sale in a local store, it is the Injustice gods among us fight stick. For the price and first stick, why not! I have also mapped my controls according to a thread posted somewhere here on the forums.

And then, I went online gaming. Oh man. Oh my god, - wtf charles (theradbrad). But I said to myself, hey, that ass beating should be a good thing no? In part yes, if I can toss aside the frustration coming along with it. So, I came up with one major obstacle I would like you guys to help me with, any other help is so graciously appreciated.

I keep on getting hit until I am cornered and I get spammed until I die.

SO! What can I do to overcome this, lol. Oh man. Thank you, after dozens and dozens of games, I have yet to win one, lol.

Block.

By the sound of it you have issues with defense. Blocking is the best place to start.

Once you start blocking you tend to learn that you don't have to block everything, you can jump out of some stuff, mash out of some stuff, punish some stuff, but it all starts with blocking.

Well, actually it starts with neutral, but regardless.

Hang around the wiki and get to know your defensive options and mechanics.

Ok sensai, going to try this, all I will do for upcoming, lets say 50 games, is learn how to block properly. xD I got the the crouching block and standing block. But I don't get the dust+any attack button block, and there are more block types, feels overwhelming for now.

Dust + any button is burst. Bursting is not blocking. Bursting is a get-out-of-jail semi-free card for when someone is comboing you. I say semi-free because after you use it, it takes a while to recharge. Back + any 2 buttons OTHER THAN DUST is Faultless Defense, which is a type of block and is important. While you use it, it drains your super meter, but in exchange you take no chip damage and the enemy attacking you gets pushed back more than usual. If your opponent throws out a random super when your health is really low, ALWAYS use Faultless Defense. Can't tell you how many people online I've chipped out only to look over and see they didn't use their meter.

I've felt your pain. It has taken me just under 200 games of complete *** beatings before I started winning games. Now I am able to run trains on some people. The beatings are well worth it in the end. Here is a list of Def options that might help you.

Blitz Shield - H plus any button other than Dust. You'll have to have perfect timing but when you pull it off it completely stuffs an attack. Cost 25% Tension.

Faultless Defense. 2 Buttons minus H and Dust. Explained above.

Instant Blocking - Pressing block the instant an attack hits. You'll flash white and you recover much faster that normal. You'll also get more Tension from IB.

Dead Angle Attack.  2 Buttons plus forward. They are invincible moves that will knock back an opponent and are meant to be game changers. You will need timing to pull these off and they cost 50% Tension.

Burst - Explained above.

Also there's are really good Tutorial in Xrd just for blocking. I would suggest hitting that up to get your reaction time up. There's a lot of great tutorials in the game and I would suggest to use them. I know they helped me a lot to get back into Guilty Gear.

Hope this helps. ^ ^V
