#Reload Jam help?

Recommended Posts

Since I can't find anyone in my immediate area that plays GG and enjoys it, I jumped online so I can actually have some matches. Yes, I know, "lol #Reload online" is nothing like a real AC match but at least it's something.

Anyway, I'm just trying to get better as Jam, and I've figured out a few combos on my own, mostly trying to work on hitconfirming them. Any critique on my Jam would be a huge help really.

There's a collection of my matches that I've thrown up on Youtube. I know that I've gotten a lot better than when I started, but I still feel like I've plateaued.

I ain't watching your online matches, but I'll tell you what you do to win with Jam, online. Just run a lot of mixups: crossups, high/lows, tick throws, staggered blockstrings, etc. As long as you got your mega-damage combos down, you'll be straight. Jam is super frustrating to fight under delayed circumstances. Lag gives a heavy mixup character like Jam a lot leeway. Remember, you want to the other guy to worry about blocking under lag, not you. Get your offense going before the other guy and you'll win. The huge amount of mixups Jam can unleash in a short frame of time, coupled with her obscene damage, you'd have to be unbelievably predictable for someone to beat you with any sort of consistency.

I broke my word, I just watched part of one match, as much as I could bear. You're too predictable. You need more tools in your toolbox. You have not plateaued at all. You're not even on the mountain.

Go here for a bunch of #r vids: http://www.youtube.com/user/getterbeeeeeeeeeeem

Search with "紗夢" or "JA" to find the Jam vids. Watch the setups that they do. Can you imagine trying to block some of that stuff under lag? And they're being conservative. Online, feel free to overextend. And hitconfirming, I wouldn't worry too much about that. It's hard to do online. Grab your Nikes and just do it.

If this is practice for eventual offline play. I won't tell you not to bother. You gotta start somewhere. But offline is very different from online, and #r is very different from AC.

Ah, man thanks a huge amount. Like I can't even begin to describe how much those vids helped, just from actually KNOWING some combos now to helping me on oki; now it's just a matter of breaking old bad habits I guess. I KNOW I'm way too defensive as Jam; I'm assuming it's just a confidence problem. I know that once I get my opponent in a corner I can just keep the pressure on and I can usually keep them in there...it's just a matter of me to stop myself from constantly doing 2D > 214K or 236S H on wakeup. I know most of my bad habits, at least I hope I do.

Once again, thanks a TON. I know it's painful to watch my vids (especially I-No, heh ._.), but I'm sure you noticed what I always tend to do in certain situations. Watching myself fight helps me recognize areas where I'm screwing up, but it helps for others to point it out too I guess.
