[AC] Johnny vs Slayer

i find iad back -> j.H to be pretty useful; lands me lots of ch's. might be pretty risky to throw out all the time though.

attacking back will depend on what he's doing, throw is usually a good bet though.

you can avoid the whole mixup all together by hitting him out of the dandy step.

or are you using 'dandy mixup' to mean something else?

No, you pretty much got what I was trying to get across, thanks a lot. It's just that every time he dandies and I block I guess wrong and get hit with a high when I was blocking low and vice-versa; it's so annoying, especially in the corner.

Have you tried coining him when he dandies? The arc of the coin lasts long enough to hit him (or at least trade) each time I think.

Coin works well against KDandy, as long as they don't CrosswiseHeel. If Slayer is around his 5K range, a PDandy will just swing underneath the Coin's arc. 2K, 2S, 2D, and 2HS(don't miss, lol) are good for hitting Slayer out of Dandy.

i like the idea of beating dandy with 2D for free otg coin, high level 3, mist, etc. gonna have to try that. how strict is the timing and could it still hit him if he frc's?

tested out ways to counter dandy. unless noted otherwise, this was all done at round start distance. - 2H beats S dandy, lands ch and puts slayer in throw range. the timing for this is very lenient; you can even hit him with it after he gets behind you and still land the ch. - 5K also beats S dandy, though the timing is more strict than 2H and doesn't stagger on ch. still may want to use this if you suspect he might frc, as this is easily hitconfirmable. - 2D beats P dandy feint, lands ch for free otg coin, mist, etc. the timing for this is somewhat strict. - 2H clashes with P or S dandy pilebunker and puts you at a large advantage, as you can land a coin or low level 2 during his recovery. the timing for this is very lenient. - 6P clashes with the second hit of K dandy crosswise, puts you at a large advantage. good for coin or high level 2 (as a side note for you combo video makers, after it clashes, MFPLV2 -> SH -> KJ FRC-> H -> DB). will edit this post and add more to it later when i have more time to have fun with this.

FYI, S dandy doesn't have an FRC point so you don't have to worry about that at least (K and P dandy do though, of course)

If two moves clash then BOTH players can instantly cancel into another move (not just whichever one's playing Johnny :psyduck: )

So if you 2H his pilebunker, or 6P his crosswise heel, depending on your next move you might just be asking for a CH 2H or jH (those are pretty slow so maybe more realistically, CH 2D or FLJ) to the face :gonk:

i kinda disagree. If you do an attack knowing that a clash is gunna happen and your opponent doesnt...(lol i didnt know Johnny's 6p would clash with crosswise...THANKS FOR THE INFO) then you have advantage otherwise its anyones fair gain.

Under the assumption that both players are knowledgeable, when a clash happens, everything goes back to neutral. Though in this situation, Johnny is slightly ahead, since Slayer ends up in the air.
