...This is a topic?

If you aren't going to contribute then don't bother posting :v:

I'm really loving the polish they're giving this title, especially when you consider this will be a free title. LOVE the addition of stage select and the menus flow well, I actually want to see Rainbow Dash finished as that who I have the most interest in at the moment.

OMG I can't wait to play this game :O I've shown some footage to some friends(who aren't familiar with FGs or even ponies) and they got hype.

Looking forward to it :B

Gamespot has a 5 page article about the game, talking with the team about conception, design, goals, and more. A pretty interesting read (and concept art is always cool~)

"[The magic button] let us focus on what makes a character special,"

So, instead, they gave characters the ability to roll after getting knocked down to help them escape the corner.

I think I heard this before somewhere, but I can't find WHERE

Fluttershy looks great. They did a great job finding a fighting style to suit her personality...and she has a fucking attack ferret which is beyond awesome.

Now all we need is a proper official release...

The game was cancelled.

Hasbro took legal action, and Mane6 isn't allowed to develop it anymore. It's really sickening to see such a labor of love go to waste.

The thing about copyright that's going to confuse me for eternity is that people are not allowed to spend tons of money and effort for zero reward if it has anything to do with an established brand. I swear, the West has no idea about doujinshi.

Hate to be the one to say it but who didn't see that coming? Seriously with the steadily gaining popularity I knew Hasbro was gonna slap this with a C&D eventually.

Nintendo likes doing the same thing. Iirc to some fan Metroid game that was almost near completion. Then Nintendo came in and said NOPE. Wasn't interested in this game but its extremely aggravating to see something like this happen to people who are working hard on something and is making your trademark more popular in the process. I mean as long as the people who are doing it are not asking for money in return imo it's fine.

I swear, the Western fandom has no idea about the various IPs and brand names that are considered untouchable by the producers of doujinshi because of their copyright holders cracking down in the past.

Go on, show me all the Doraemon porn you bought at C83. Show me some Sazae-san: The Fights.

It's not hard to make a point without editing other posts. It's also easier to read, for that matter. If you have something to say about the Doraemon or Sazae-san publishers being anal about doujinshi production (which I am honestly know nothing about), then just spill it.

Don't forget when Square either. They put a stop to a Chrono Trigger fan game that was basically 90% done. :v:

Because while you and fans may understand that this is NOT an official MLP product, it's not immediately evident. The developers are effecting the way that people see the franchise with this project, and I'm sure that Hasbro has put quite a bit of time into developing that image.

Your statement about doujins is also incredibly false. Many large companies monitor what doujin artists put out, and shut down content that they don't want super fast (Example: the sequel to Faithful Teipig or whatever, Nintendo shut down the artist incredibly fast)

Oh wow, good to know. I guess I was thinking like that because I don't live in Japan, so the legal issues that stay there don't reach me.
