[CS2] NEW Valkenhayn Video Posting Thread!

I have put all the match videos in order alphabetically based on who the opponent is(i.e: Arakune is first) and I will put and extra combo movies/reset/tutorial videos at the bottom. NOTE: Some of these videos are from NicoNico in which case, use the Login Info at the bottom of the post to view it. All NicoNico videos for each section(if any), will be at the bottom of their respective sections to keep things neat and will be titled "NicoNico." Any of the videos where I did not know the name of a player has been marked by a "???" as a placeholder. I can't read any Japanese but if anyone happens to know any of them, let me know and I will gladly update them. I've split the Videos into 2 posts to free up space to add more later.

Everyone be sure to thank Leo7 for taking his time to translate some of the empty names for us. Hes truly a boss :3 DISCLAIMER: Leo is only human! Being human means that sometimes, mistakes are made. I enjoyed watching you play Orion. I also learned alot :)

At 4:37, what combo were you planning to do from the wolf grab?

Also I died inside when I saw Dabbit grab you when you used 5B, and 236A on his IB. I didn't realise 236A was THAT unsafe for a free grab.

Oh when I was following up the command grab, I messed up my inputs and accidentally rolled the stick from 2C to 6B and got Schwarz cause of it.

Also it wasn't a grab punish with his normal grab, that was Arakune's Counter Assault. He's the only one with a throw Counter Assault so it was out of blockstun, not a punish. 236A is actually unpunishable by grabs. On IB, its only -5 at worst so in some cases, it can be punished with something like Bang's 5A.

And sadly I can't stand to watch this cause I'm reliving all the stuff I messed up on. I should have done so much better but I hate tourney nerves:(

Y'know I'm actually quite surprised I didn't notice that at first. You didn't take any damage that should've been the first sign but I guess it's late here...lol. I actually didn't know Arakune had that!

Don't worry about it. You'll go to more and you'll get used to it. Although I'm really in no position to say a thing like this because this is exactly how I feel after watching my gameplay matches even if I win. All you can really do is take it as a lesson and learn from it. That way, you're bound to do better next time. :)

Good collection, i needed help on some valkenhayn combos, i used to use the 5B > 5C > 236C alot but i stoppped using it since the patch.

Got a friend to upload some videos for critique.

Platinum/Ragna (GammaGearJustice) vs. Valkenhayn (Sahgren)

Ragna (GammaGearJustice) vs. Valkenhayn (Sahgren)

From what I can tell:

Don't switch into wolf as much. At points I'm going into wolf when I should be taking advantage of the human normals.

Don't be as scared of DPs. Gotta respect 'em, but I was just straight up scared at points.

Work on my damn execution.

Watch my wolf meter. In the very first round I let it run out twice.

First video:

First match: I think you could've used a better combo from your [w]J214B when you hit confirmed it as you were in the corner. You could've done [w]J214B - [w]5A - [w]5B - [w]JB - [w]3CJA - [h]2C - [h]6C for a little more damage, possibly a better oki too depending on how you end the combo.

Don't give Platinum an easy time to hit you when you're in wolf. If she hits you with 236B and she has you in the corner you are going to take alot of damage. In case Platinum has a bat you could bait it with [w]4C/[w]7C and retaliate with [w]JA - combo etc.

Second + third match:

In cases where you have 50% heat and you're getting pressured by Ragna, don't be afraid to IB - Sturm wolf against any of his drives that he uses inpressure. Whilst Valkenhayn's CA is decent, it's slow, it can be baited easily and it doesn't cover foot attribute. GGJ seems to not respect you at all (which is to be expected :( ) and you need to show him at times he cannot always get away with what he's doing otherwise you'll be blocking against Ragna 24/7.

Second Video:

My same advice applies, like at 1:37 where you could've used the above better combo for instance. GGJ seems to DP very often every time you hit him with 236A. You could get alot of damage if you were to do nothing after or 236A - 4CC(cancel).

Alternatively, if you don't want to end with 236A, you could use 5B - 3C - 236A for wolf oki somewhat, or you could use the 3C - 236B-236B ender instead for meter and some corner carry.

I hope I helped, even if it was a little, and I also agree with your points.

Ok so I had a few thoughts watching these:

1) While you were trying to respect his DP, you were doing it at the wrong times. He was way more willing to throw it when you were resetting your pressure like after 236A. Thats a very weak spot to reset pressure so be willing to block sometimes and bait it. When you have much stronger oki though like after a j.C, he didn't throw it as much cause its harder to get a read that good to throw it. And don't respect him as much till he has meter to RC it. The risk/reward of throwing a DP against Valk is fucking terrible so use it to your advantage. If you can just block one when he can't RC and make him eat a 2C starter combo, he'll throw it a lot less.

2) You were too scared to move around in Wolf Form outside of just sitting full screen and strafing. Not to mention that when he was just charging at you, you only ever ran backwards, and then you got hit for it cause you got to the corner. You gotta be more mobile in Wolf Form, jump around when hes running at you or hell run at him and play chicken. Just don't be one dimensional, keep moving and be random.

3) Don't be patterned, that was easily your biggest problem cause over half the DPs that hit you were through your blockstrings. He instead of resetting pressure on 6B everytime cause even though it is +8, if they IB it, they can DP through anything you link after. Try doing a delayed gatling into 3C or 5C. 5B is only -1 so you don't have to gatling after it everytime. If spaced right, they can't punish it and you can hit them for trying to mash with something like 5B>5B or 5B, wait, 2B>5B. Just keep it varied.
