[CSE] Iron Tager vs Iron Tager: A jolly world of Magnets

Recommended Posts

Best/Worst mirror ever!

Discuss why.

Tager mirrors are amazing in how easy it is to win/lose.

Not kidding whatever you think is stupid is probably smart and vice versa.

This is a test of how smart you are or think you are and how amazing your reaction and yomi are.

Objective:

Defeat your evil robotic counterpart.

Reason:

Because he took your mexican sidekick.

Far range:

VTC and walk forward the usual things.

Do not High jump in! I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!!

Medium range:

2D could work, will lose to backdash.

5D/j.D/5C are your only tools here.

Close range: On the defensive you are gonna guess, IB guess, or just get hurt.

Never gadget finger in this match, it's a horrible horrible idea.

On the offensive leave no gaps and use 5B>4D or 5C>5D to gain magnetism and return to neutral.

Never use charged 6A in neutral and use MTW as your reversal.

Extra stuff:

2nd MTW always win.

2nd 720 always wins.

360A beats 720.

2C/AC are free AA's on a high jumping Tager.

If you are at frame advantage then chances are whatever you're doing first will lose to the other Tager doing the same thing.

This is why you do not do gadget in this match.

Normal things:

footsie footsie (5C, 5D, and j.D for pokes mid screen.)

tick throw unpredictably

Tager specific combos should be done.

Have fun, this is basic knowledge weee!

My favorite matchup. 5C a lot. 5D correctly. Generally, don't end combos with magnetism and never GF. AC his jump in cause I don't think he can do shit about that. Space with occasional normal jump > j.D. It's very good at getting random CH. Don't go out of your way to overhead him and instead opt for safe blockstrings like 6A > 4D. Don't jump around in neutral. 5A - 3C - 4D is rock-papers-scissors for Tager mirrors at the beginning of the match so if you don't want any part in that, backdash or walk backwards. Oh yeah and don't forget backdash > churn butter if he tries stupid shit like pulling you in with 6A in obvious situations. Just remember to time the backdash right or else you will either get hit or he recovers and gets a 360 on you.

I wrote a haiku about this matchup.

Screw fundamentals

Three sixty his three sixty

Do dumb shit, 720 midscreen, Voltic charge at point blank, use sledge as an anti air. do Street Fighter 2 Jump 360s.

oh yeah and don't even bother using 2C if he tries to jump in on you. You can AC him on reaction and he can't do shit to avoid it.

I'd support the use of 2C so you can do mid combo magnetism on him convincingly.

2C isn't a free anti air versus Tager. A lot of things can go wrong what with it being blockable and stuffable by very active moves like J.2C and J.B. AC however is super free. Given that knowledge I'd rather AC.

Quick question. So, approaching with sledge and getting blocked, if you backdash after and 360A if they attempt to grab you off the spot, could they backdash after and reverse it?

Don't think so. You can however just backdash->360 someone right out of sledge if it's timed right, iirc.
