I would disagree with that.

Nage has the 2nd highest psr rank so he is definitely was the second contender to win the Arc Revo after Karinchou.

And he did manage to eliminate Uki and FAB who could beat Gazou IMO.

And Torsou made a big mistake because he obviously let his guard down after eliminating Karinchou and Gazou used this chance and destroyed him.

Then... idk man. Sometimes, shit like that comes down to doing those correct actions at the right time. Im not dissing any of the players (012 was who I was rooting for tbh) because they proved to anyone who tried qualifying that they were going to be the contenders.

Now im pretty sure ive seen FAB beat gazou more than a couple of times, and I expected woshige to win regardless, but those are what-ifs. What if this happened, what if this DIDNT happen, like what if dogura didnt burst-bait Galileo so much, but whats done is done. Gazou beat Nage, who also made it past everyone he played. Until I see otherwise, thats enough for me.

What If Macaboo was in ArcRev, that's a question you need to ask.

Machaboo got beat by 012, the very person who I think got taken out 1st round. I bet he would do great because cmon now its machaboo!

But Ill never know, because he never made it. Really wish roi made it too, but he lost (bad I might say:/) to sharon in qualifying, before sharon lost to hase in grand finals.

So as much as I want to look at that I cant because other players won when it mattered most

It's the nature of sport and competition in general that the assumed best or expected victor may not win. Actually in a lot of cases, it doesn't even happen most of the time. That's one of the unscripted dramatic things that make it interesting.

Matches were nuts: The BB top 8 was fun. Galileo vs. Dogura rematch was pretty intense. Both players were playing extremely well. Dogura was pretty much filthy the entire tournament. Kogatan is really fun to watch.

I thought the Teddie GF was pretty ridiculous-- 899-900 psr vs. 902? There were so many callouts, feints and crazy stuff going on by both Souji and Mad--blocked motorcycle setup things, Souji with that 2AA, 2AA, 2AA pressure. I felt bad for Souji though. That button issue was awkward and I wasn't sure if he baited a burst that wasn't there. I thought a missile would have won him the match. Good stuff from Tahichi's Yukari-- that one comeback was ridiculous.

FAB almost pulled off that victory and he was fun to watch. Those flicks against Rozu were on point and I'm always impressed at what he does with not too many oki options. I thought Gazou played well because going into GFs, I thought Nage had the edge. Good stuff from Hasegawa. It looked rough but he was making opportunities count. There was only one Danger Time in Top 8 and whatever showed up on the stream iirc.

It was my first live Arc Revo so I enjoyed the different atmosphere. I actually like the hopping between games (assuming most matches aren't being streamed). I am curious how watching the matches will affect the meta and people's overall outlook on the game. I was sad i didn't see any announcements.

Gazou is new school right?

Hm... I missed it.... were there any announcements for any of the games?

hope goldenrody uploads replays

The closest to an announcement was that Sin will be playable on TGS (unless that was already known, in that case, no announcement).

I find when Machabo deviates from Ky he doesn't get as far tourney from my recollection...

if so, that's kinda funny that he gets further with a harder character as opposed to a top tier character lol.

Top tier =/= easy. :ED:

Him getting farther with Ky may just be an issue of comfort. Humans have a limited "tank" of willpower usable throughout the day (gets recharged by sleep and/or food) that's consumed by doing willpower-requiring things or locking in decisions. The more you go against your natural urges, the faster the tank depletes. So over the course of a long tournament it can really pay off to play a character where the stuff you do by following your natural impulses is the correct stuff to do, even if you have to play a bit more precisely or have lower damage output.

If Machabou's natural style aligns with Ky more than Sol, it helps him stay on point for longer which would probably help in getting deep in long tournaments.

Matchabo managed to beat Ogawa at that tournament and also here in Xrd when he went top tier.

But he was beaten by the guy who knows his character better because he is an innovator and a specialist which was Shounin.

Same thing happened even though it was pretty close match in Xrd against 012.

Oh I remember him beating ogawa then and I remember him beating ogawa like 6 months ago. He was without a doubt the best xrd player in japan, thrashing pretty much everyone he played.

But he never did it with ky and it kinda is sad:(

Another good thing: ALTERNATE COSTUMES, BABY! Fuck yo downloadable color packs, sprite-based fighters!

.

This so much.

I'm super excited for this game. It looks BEAUTIFUL!

Considering the amount of work every "key-frame" of animation requires (shadowing, distorted "trails", other shit that was mentioned in articles about Xrd's graphics tech) i dont think alt costumes will be viable for ArcSys.

The arcade version currently having only 5 colors is making the game look a tiny bit more monotonous. I wonder how much will be in the home version.

Daisuke ishawatari himself said that probably is going to happen. So we will see

Pretty sure he only said that it was being considered. He did talk about one of his ideas, but it sounded like nothing had actually been decided on.
