The reason HomingCancel doesn't have much activity is because we're waiting for a new version right now. The majority of the active players hang around on the irc channel on mizuumi. If you post a question or anything on the forums you'll generally get a response, we just have nothing to really post about until we get the new version in our hands.

Was thinking perhaps a AH3 LM and a UNIB sub forums would be nice here. The traffic for both titles is pretty decent and a lot of active players post and frequent here.

Speaking for myself I play Vsav of course and pretty much all "anime" fighters. With the GG/BB/P4U etc + busy misc sections and my local thread this is where I usually communicate.

Worth considering discussion with forum leaders to set up where activity is.

AH has homingcancel.com and UNIB has meltybread.com

i see no reason to compete with them. also just because a game is on dustloop isn't a guarantee of activity, see skullgirls when it was a fully featured game here.

I agree with GhostCobra, it was something that we had discussed offline this weekend actually.

I would really like to see an AH3LM and UNIEL subforum on dustloop, and if there's a need for moderation/organization I'm all for it.

HomingCancel is a ghost town (and not very well known to be honest, I've met more people than I care to admit who were aware of the mizuumi wiki but not the HC forums), and it's out of the way. Meltybread has a UNIEL subforum but the single thread on dustloop gets more activity in a week than the entire forum on meltybread. Having a place to discuss it here would be a really big boost for the community, because it would give discussion and information to a much more central, well known location with a much bigger existing userbase. This is a very good opportunity to help both of these games gain more traction, it gives the existing users who are already talking about these games an expanded forum to talk, and it gives players interested in checking both of these games out a resource to learn more about them without having to go register on another forum, or even have to learn that there is another forum. Dustloop is a very well known and very well branded forum, this is where we can push the most for these games and help them.

I can understand the hesitancy to step on these existing sites feet, but I'm asking the moderation and administrative staff here to help out both of these games not just as a player, but as a tournament organizer in one of the largest (if not the largest) offline arcana community.  I want what's best for helping the community grow, and I genuinely feel like that is presenting the dustloop community with a subforum to discuss these two games will do wonders for helping to grow a healthy community outside of Japan. This isn't competing with the existing resources, this is offering the anime community as a whole a place to discuss these two exciting upcoming games and make them more accessible.

I don't want to comment on why the Skullgirls subforum didn't succeed, that's a very touchy subject. What I will say though is that the overlap of players who enter the games that I run at tournaments with the in-house ASW games is very large. There's already a large install base on this forum of players who are going to be playing AH3LM and UNIEL.

I am more than willing to put in the most work to making this happen, I'm committed to pushing these two games, so please, I'm asking as a player, as a tournament organizer and as a community organizer to help. Feel free to contact me on skype or here if there's anything I can do to help make this happen and help get more people into this community.

If the DL administration is up for this, I think it would be a great step forward. As stated above, both HC and MB are ghost towns and most of the people that still play are active posters on DL now anyway.

It may not be necessary to doll out a COMPLETE sub-forum for each game - perhaps just a section for General Discussion/Mechanics and Characters. I do understand the apprehension in going in on a full-out sub-forum, but perhaps this might be a good in between solution?

I am all for an UNIEL sub-forum on Dustloop.

I visit MeltyBread more than DL and the place looks like it's on life support most of the time. Unless there's users with the time, energy, skills, and power (authority) to attract activity and lay down the basic groundwork there, MeltyBread isn't going to attract curious UNIEL players to use the message boards in its current state.

I'd be all for dedicated sections for AH3 and UNIEL. I don't post on forums very much anymore but I did frequent HomingCancel at some point. I think having a dedicated area here for those games ontop of their own sites would not be a bad idea to have the community in a central anime hub.

UNIEL sub forum sounds good. There's a good amount of discussion going on in the forum on a regular basis usually. And when I think of the games console release I just think of a ton of users posting in that forums asking for matches, saying ggs, asking how to do x with certain character, etc. It would be a cluttered mess. The game itself having sub forums would help reduce that greatly. And information would be easier to compile

Hello -- for people that aren't aware, I'm the administrator for Melty Bread and basically handle all of the day-to-day stuff on the site (or what's left of it). Honestly, I think forums in this day and age are largely redundant. A lot of the moment-to-moment discussion happens on Twitter and Facebook, and a lot of the longer-form strategy and tactics end up in the wiki. What's the point of having a forum? I checked the UNIEL thread here and there was about 20 posts in the last week. While that's still more active than Melty Bread (womp womp), that's not exactly a hotbed of activity. I think there can be a use for it (for having things like an independent area for matchmaking outside of private Facebook groups), but it's not something that's nearly as important as it was a decade ago. Honestly, I wouldn't have a problem folding all of Homing Cancel and Melty Bread into Dustloop at this point (but I would see that as being a technical mess).

As for why Melty Bread is dead, it really comes down to the fact that the people who put in work on the site have, to a man, moved on to other things in their lives and there's been no one to replace them. I deserve as much blame for this as anyone else -- I'm generally not going to give someone that I don't trust that kind of space to work, and frankly I don't know most of the new-school players very well. What's left of the community is also very insular, mainly taking day to day stuff on Mizuumi's IRC channels. Which isn't bad (parts of that community have been around for over a decade!), but it's not very welcoming to new players (and how often does anyone who started using the Internet less than a decade ago even know about IRC?).

This, of course, ignores the most obvious problem of a lack of support from the developers for their game (for many, many reasons), but there's nothing we can do about that.

I am more than willing to put in the most work to making this happen, I'm committed to pushing these two games, so please, I'm asking as a player, as a tournament organizer and as a community organizer to help. Feel free to contact me on skype or here if there's anything I can do to help make this happen and help get more people into this community.

Let me ask you a question straight-up -- this isn't really a shot at you (or anyone), but I think it's illustrative: why would you be willing to put in that work on Dustloop but not on Melty Bread or Homing Cancel?

I think Arcana Heart / Under Night In-Birth forums would be a good idea. Like some already mentioned, there are people on Dustloop who play AH / plan on playing UNIB (and the general fg threads for these games are already pretty active here).

please check the miz wiki. Check all of the edits I've made for the ah3lm wiki in prep for LM. Who said I'm not willing to work with HC or mbread? I see a community who is active and I want to help that community have a bigger active space to talk. I will help whatever part of the community I can. Like I said this isn't me trying to edge out mbread. This is me trying to expand interest. If that goes down the path of mbread being active I'll help there. If it's here I'm on board.

i agree with you about how forums are getting edged out by other forms of internet communication. all i can do is try to make this site more useful to our target audience one way or another.

Im totally agree with Tigre, Dustloop its a well knowed - dedicated forum, would be better if another Anime fighters ( Chaos Code, UNIEL, AH3LM,) get a sub forum, instead of divide the comunnity peer spesific games why not try to center all the information?

Bell doesn't mind about having an AH3LM subforum on dustloop, I asked him on irc.

<tigre> hey bellreisa would you be offended if there was an ah3lm subforum on dustloop?

<bellreisa> tigre: nope. got bigger fish to fry tbh

If you want confirmation you can ask anyone that is currently on #examu on mizuumi irc.

*votes Yes*

PUT UNIEL AND DFC AND OUGON

Of course, if it means fully covering the games with their own sub forums and respective characters.

Since I'm pretty much just gonna copypaste all my shit anyways, I could honestly care less how many repositories there are or what the largest site is. What I really don't want to see is a lot of info languishing away on a single site or character subforums and wikis going unmaintained.

I think having subforms fro both games like UNIEL and AH3LM  (and Dengeki and MB as well) will help expand the scenes a lot more and raise interest, so I don't see why not.
