[CP] Abyss Mode Discussion

Hello all, I'm kind of new here, have lurked before, but who really cares about intros? I've been really enjoying abyss mode, and have been trying to write down and attempt to figure out what new changes and items have come to abyss. If there are any corrections or edits you'd like to contribute, please do!

It seems that it's broken down into stages of sorts, starting you with 3 Easy mode depths, 3 Normal, 3 Hard, and a Final difficulty.. There's also the Infinite depth, but I'm not sure when it unlocks. I'm suspecting it's after Final.

Final Abyss is not Hell. It's just an unlimited character at every 20th depth. When you beat it you get a gallery art, access to unlimited depth route, and they give you every level 100 depth character specific item. I have tons of screenshots of it on my twitter from yesterday. Also a big thing no one mentioned is items are now permanent after you purchase them.

The stat boosts you pick are seemingly permanent, although you can lower them after you've gained them in the abyss store. When you die, it seems the dropped rewards are gone, even if you replay it immediately and surpass your previous point. Auras actually have a usage in this game other than cosmetic appearance, and the stats stack if you equip more than one. I have yet to see what the multi-aura actually looks like in fight, though.

2000 Armor Grinder - If your opponent blocks regularly, it seems to negate the block defense and do full damage.

2000 Air Dash +1

5000 Counter Puncher - Does more damage when countering.

5000 Flash Guard - Makes instant guards easier. (?)

2000 Air Jump +1

5000 Gold Burst

???? Rainbow Aura: +50 ATK +50 DEF + 100 Heat

5000 Gold Aura - +25 ATT, +25 DEF, +50 Heat

5000 Silver Aura - +50 DEF

5000 Red Aura - +50 ATT

5000 Black Aura - +100 Heat

???? Mr. Stoic - Sets your bonus stats to 0, but doubles your battle money intake.

???? Lucky Puncher: Chance to double damage dealt on hit.

I am really hoping that they've made it easier to find the SP items. I've been in level 2k+ Abyss looking for the last 7 items and I've gotten nothing then on. -__-

Turn Unlimited: Self explanatory. I don't think this one is saved/able to be purchased. It seems as though you have to get it by chance every time.

I'm loving it ATM. Once I get a combo down in practice mode I move on to practice it against a moving opponent there to make it less stale. The only problem is that I can't choose the 2P side. Instead I have to jump above the opponent at every round.

I'm having a lot of fun with it myself, just since it's all in Japanese I can't tell what some of the less obvious upgrades are. For Nu I got a "Heavy Gravity Seed", for example, but even in battles I can't really tell what difference it makes.

Aside from that, it's pretty hilarious to just hit Overdrive at the start of the round with 100 Heat and obliterate the AI with two 7k DDs. Doho.

Does every character get a unique power-up? I got one with Izayoi but not with Terumi.

No Abyss Walker bonus this time around it seems but Terumi builds levels super fast anyway with stomp super and astral. Izayoi I dunno. Anyone have any ideas for a low damage combo with lots of hits for her?

Encountered "Maze Walker" upgrade as well. No clue what that does either.

Also, to my dismay, the visual effects of auras don't stack together. Whatever aura you picked last will be the one displayed, so if you picked Black Aura, Gold Aura and then Rainbow Aura, only Rainbow will be visible. The actual stat increases all stack, though.

Anti DD: Prevents opponents from Distortion Drives.

Life Regain Plus(?): Increases the amount of health regained after beating an opponent.

Gold Burst: ? (Allows the use of Gold Bursts when you 100% OD charge? Something with 100%.)

Just found Maze Walker, it's a rarity 5, and costs 10000. Gets you through the depths real fast. Even grinding with Stylish Tager, you can normally get to the next mid-boss off one character.

Items are 100% random. Try to get a hold of ENEMY AI DOWN, and ANTI-DD. If you can't get those then you'll just have to grind till your stats are high enough to beat them easily. Also you can use the xmb quit trick to retry as it still works since CS.

I think Mr.Stoic 2 disables the use of Distortions.

Auto Heal is rare 1 and cost 2000 to buy. I'm assuming it's a slow regen item.

Go to the blue shop in the top left corner, hit x on it, and if you have at least 3 items, you'll replace one.

Pretty much what Kurushii said, anti-dd is so very helpful in the later stages against Unlimited characters, as well as AI down making life much simpler in general. Hard 7 Has Unlimited Relius, who negates your dd and your burst/overdrive. If you have anti-dd, it means you can usually rush him down and put a hurt on him. Otherwise he just has Ignis beat the crap out of you while he struts over to watch and occasionally hit you. Hard 8 has Unlimited Litchi with all counter and counter puncher, and I recommend the same set up as before. Just hit her as hard as physically possible, without her distortion drives she's less wild. Hard 9 gave me some trouble, it's Unlimited Tager with Revenger and something else, can't remember. He has +700 to his stats, so you may just need to try for a time out. For the love of god, if you decide to be brave and get rid of anti-dd, watch out if he jumps way above the screen. He's gonna people's elbow you for an insane amount of damage (more so if you're close to winning thanks to Revenger) and the timing to dodge is very strict. Still trying at final, so I don't have tips for that yet.

Mr Stoic 2 somehow disables you to use distortions. (While your foe can.) It MUST have somekind of benefit if you get this kind of negative penalty.

I also have counter puncher. It seems to create random Fatal Counters on random hits. (On regular hit, not CH, and not even moves that can even create a fatal counter)

Oh yeah, guys. When you go to the infinite dungeon, watch out for chars that have "mist finer" in their special stat item. When I saw that on an unlimited Izayoi, I was like, "That better not be Gold Johnny." And then BAM! all of my life gone off of 1 special attack. I wonder if I can buy this, I'll DEFINATELY equip this if I have the option.

Mr. Stoic 2 seems to double rewards you get for winning fights, though note that this doesn't apply to the Reward+ Items.
