[CP] Haku VS Nu: Unlimited Bladeworks

Recommended Posts

Initial impressions:

- Loss of corner carry makes this matchup tougher. You really need to maximize combo damage.

- 5D hold finds unexpected use here since it'll catch late swords for a free star. Cool.

- OD hurts her a lot. Just as in CT where you would blow your load with 8 stars in one shot, OD serves the same purpose, except she can't burst. It may well be your most precious asset in this matchup.

It's otherwise the same game since CT: you need to get in while avoiding/cutting swords, then go all-out and spend everything. Be patient, block everything, and don't get (air) grabbed.

If you have trouble catching Nu, last resort would be Mugen+OD and spam shipuu wave and kishuu to get close. I think kishuu goes farther and faster while in Mugen. 3 or 4 kishuu and was right next to her. Yukikaze her 5D catches her 4D,dash cancels and forward wheel(?). she can rapid the 5D and backwards wheel and escape.

Might as well throw this in here since it's in the Nu thread already.

OK so, this is what I was going to explain about the Haku Nu matchup.

Hakumen in CP lives and dies by his counter hits. And not just any counterhit, but off 3C and 6B. If I can't get anything off those, then I'm SOL. Well, 5C too, but basically, if you don't try to mash out and just focus on up backing and backdashing out at the right time, you will probably beat 95% of the Hakumens you run into just because of that. Anything I can do to punish it requires guessing, and if I guess right it is only 2k or so.

And without much oki it is basically like we are at neutral all the time.

You will notice, Toan, that this is how you normally always play, so that is why there is this huge difference. In EX he could open people up much easier, but now he is reliant on you to make a mistake so he can get damage off it with his particular starters like 5C and 3C. If you don't give him that chance then all he has is OD.

But since there isn't much damage I can do off a low without CH, you can just block high most of the time (like you already do) and be safe from Tsubaki > Hotaru > OD setups.

Finally some spare time.

She will try to upback and backdash away every chance she gets. This is to her advantage because even if we catch her, it won't be a CH and that means we can't do big damage. So we will have to squeeze every last point of damage we can.

Learn the Gurren ~> Enma combos, because you will need them if you punish a jumpout from 2B or backdash with Gurren. Use airthrow to keep her grounded, although that will probably not work. But having the threat is still important.

OD should be used just to make sure that she doesn't immediately burst when you land any sort of good CH.

If she has the bad habit of using both Ds in succession, (like 5DD) you can Yukikaze the first D and she will get hit while she is doing the 2nd D.

Use the Shippu shockwave from full screen to punish sword spamming, or make a guess. Either way it will make her tighten up her defense or get hit.

2B and Gurren are important since she will most likely be trying to get out, or blocking high. You will have to constantly punish that.

If she tries to dash under you while you are in the air, use Agito to stop her.

You can punish her 3C with your 3C.

Don't forget you can use OD to stop the timer if it comes to that.

I can't say for sure in every instance, since she has different moves and properties depending on the mode, but I have hit her out of the wheel a lot. It gets cut by the sword and turns into a bubble.

Also you should be able to Kishuu through her swords still, though it is tighter this time.

Does that also include her doing 3C > 236D?

Luna 3C > 236D will be beat everytime by that. But you can be frame trapped if Nu does 236B instead of 236D.

Dia 3C > 236D will CH you if you try to 3C in-between. However, 3C > 236D is a bad blockstring and Hakumen has ways of dealing with it so the Nu will have to mix-up it to stop you from getting a free punish so you will be able to catch them a few times with it. And Nu's damage midscreen from a CH Dia 236D pales in comparison to a Haku 3C so it is a risk you can take time from time if you want.

Apparently her Calamity Sword (giant overhead sword super) is not an overhead in OD, so you can 2D it.

Every time she does 5DD>4DD>Sickle you can 3C the sickle for a Fumajin, or 4C/5C/6C for Spike Chaser.

May not be possible at closest range but at that range you should be able to 2D>Enma

IB'ing makes it easier obviously.

If you see her charging Spike Chaser within 3C range, for the love of god, don't let her do it. 3C like your life depends on it.
