Anyone have any insight for this matchup? Thusfar what I've gleaned largely revolves around playing keep away as best as possible with the gravitons/fireballs when safe, using 3C to deal with approaches on the ground, and 6A/5C to deal with wolf dash/beast cannons.

I'm a fairly new Kokonoe, so this could all be way off base but its what I've come up with so far playing a buddy of mine fairly regularly who mains Valk.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head. It's a matchup that is likely in Koko's favour solely due to the fact that her graviton > lightning trap > fireball setup forces Valk to take pretty huge risks otherwise he gets locked down pretty hard. Having a lightning trap out and relying on 3C and 6A is the bane of my freaking existence, I swear. When in wolf form, Valks hurtbox is long enough that he can't hang in the "dead zone" of 3C, and will just get hit regardless of positioning at close range. 6A is tha god, and will beat anything he throws at you from the air. It's literally just street fighter, lol.

Round start is pretty much the best chance Valk has since if he makes the correct read he can just maul Kokonoe without much trouble, but if she makes good use of her neutral tools and sets up her projectiles, it becomes insanely hard for Valk to safely get in.

I've played this matchup on both sides and this is pretty much correct. Your best bet to get in as valk when koko has setplay going is a high j.236A into 2D/1D > j.B for a 50/50 to turn it into a coinflip instead of a guarenteed inability to get in. (If she guesses the crossup wrong her 5A comes out early instead of a 6A and your wj.B wins) This will work as long as kokonoe isn't standing directly on top of the lightning. (Which koko shouldn't be doing anyways as that leaves her open to w.5C)

buut thats all this turns it into. A coinflip.
