Tier List of Easiest Characters to Play in BlazBlue?

Recommended Posts

So what would be a tier list of the easiest characters to use in BlazBlue? You know, like how much skill, execution and experience you need to actually be successful with a character in different levels of play. I’ve been thinking about this ever since I saw that Guilty Gear tier list by NerdJosh. I would try to make one myself, but I don’t think I’m any where near experienced or qualified enough to make one. P.S. I know I’ve already asked this question before in the Q&A thread, but I have yet to get any answers to that question.

New players generally appreciate characters that do high damage in single hits, or have some gimmick that can be spammed for easy damage. Here are some of them:

Hakumen (high dmg everything except for A and B moves)

Tager (grabs)

Kagura (high dmg C moves, some drives)

Platinum (heart car)

Jin (ice car, DPs)

That's what I can think of off the top of my head.

There's no substitute for experience, though. That's usually what really determines how well you do with a character.

Well the problem I have with ordering characters like that is that there's many different types of difficulty to a character. Even with combos, there are characters with easy combos, but harder hitconfirms, like Kagura. Or characters with easy hitconfirms but harder combos, like Hazama. And then there's the successful part. Makoto and Bullet are rather easy to play, but harder to win with than say, Taokaka, who is harder to play but easier to win with. Then there's difficulty at different player levels... There's a host of other problems too so it just gets rather complicated.

Nerdjosh's list has some use, since Guilty Gear has a higher execution barrier at lower levels than BlazBlue and is very untutorialised. With BlazBlue, you can just go into Challenge Mode and get a feel for yourself for how character's combos work. No character in this game is so technically difficult to play that you can't get some idea how they work from messing around with them for a little bit. And yet I still don't know what Dizzy's bubbles even do.

The problem with asking a question like this is that it's way too vague. "Easiest to learn"....to do what? Beat other newbies? Tager. All you need to do is be able to spin the stick and you will punish tons of crap. Play at beginner but not total newbie level? Probably Jin or Ragna or something else with an easy but rewarding ABCD>Special combo. Get to a 'medium' level of competence with? (Enough to not get destroyed on Netplay all the time?) Probably a different list entirely (Well, okay, may still be Jin. :P ) Take to a 'high' level of effectiveness? Probably Hakumen, because you just need to learn a destructive OD combo.

And so on.

They pop and deal damage when you hit them with an attack. You being Dizzy.

Almost all of those characters have neutral games with steep learning curves and are terrible suggestions.

For new players, the easiest characters to pick up and learn the game with are:

Ragna - very well rounded with an active play style

Terumi - Honk Honk Autopilot

Azrael - Big damage potential, strong neutral game once you get used to the dash movement

See, this is the problem with this question. He answered at a 'how to beat your friends who have also never played this game before' level. You are answering at a 'get to basic competence' level.

What was that tv show that had them play blazblue. Ultimate gamer or something?

Anyway the hakumen player won over the Ragna player.

the end.

Yeah, that’s what I meant. Characters who are easiest to get to basic competence.

Jin has a hard neutral game? Jin is the textbook definition of autopilot neutral.

If you are a noob looking to crush other noobs your top picks are going to be hakumen, tager, or kagura. No combo knowledge needed to do well with these three at a low level.

Oh god I remember that, I think they played CS1 or something. They played a single, 5-round match. And yeah, the Hakumen mashed 3C to victory.

This should of just ended with Beginner Characters. Ragna and Jin. they destoy people who don't know shit. and they teach all the basics you need to know about BB and FGC games in genereal. their skill celing isn't steep so they are easy to pick up.

Well, if we're going by which character is easiest to pick up, then I'd say just go with whoever you like most as no one is easy to get to a high level of play with.

You have to be aware that being able to combo is one thing, but winning matches is another. No one is easy in this regard. Pick whoever you like most.

I love how most of you are picking his character for him, all he asked for was a list of difficulty........

S(Super easy)- Bottom(Very difficult)

S Basic as hell: Bullet, Haku-men, Jin, Noel, Tsubaki, Ragna(Ragna combos got hard yo)

A Slight execution requirement for DMG/neutral: Everyone not listed in any other

B High requirements in Neutral, execution, reaction... Diffucult to play: Valk, Tao, Litchi, Rachel, Nu, Izayoi (The struggle)

Bottom: Carl.... Dont play him if your looking for easy.

Skill (Mastery of Fighting Game Basics) Wise (Izayoi and Amane)

Execution (Mastery of Inputs) Wise (Rachel and Carl)

Experience (Mastery of Mechanics) Wise (Tager and Platinum)
