Miscellaneous

Many of the combos shown in these old 1.0 videos may be obsolete or no longer worth it. For example, combos shown in these videos from a wj.A or wj.B will not be the same as the 1.1 combos. However, things like the wolf movement tutorial and Tonberry's setups remain the same. Take with caution.

Valkenhayn Basic Combos - by Bokuzen

Man I'm so confused so Valk doesn't get decent combos off w5c even? Ryu landed w5c quite a bit and he didn't do a real combo. Someone explain this to me. I thought our wja/b got nerf, but we cant do a decent air combo period? I'm lost....

Also why did he keep going for wjc, wjc? I didn't see him attempt w5c at all after wjc in the Bullet match. I would think once I make you stand its time for the low but I guess I'm obviously missing somethings. What in the world is happening guys....

Not surprised about the koko match thats just how that shit goes...

P.s I didn't even notice wja> w5a> w5c in the vids at what point was that?

I'm pretty confused myself about what went on in those matches. Then again it's gonna take some time for the Valk players to get use to these changes...

Personally, I hate the wolf gauge recovery nerf we were hit with. Meter looks harder to manage now, especially when we're trying to be mobile in wolf.

I felt salty just watching the Valk vs Koko match. :(

Calm down guys. To answer your questions:

-He gets the same combo off of w[5C] (well maybe it'll be slightly better with w[5C > 236A] but that's not particularly practical).

-w[j.A > 5A > 5C] not working isn't really a big deal anyhow since most people don't convert into w[5A] from a w[j.A] confirm. As we knew early on he can still do a w[j.A] confirm into beast cannons, but I wont be using it for rather obvious reasons.

-Regarding the wolf gauge nerf, we'll see how bad it affects us once we play the game for ourselves.

-As I predicted, w[5C > 236A] now working is going to be very helpful and it'll buff up some of our damage, plus we wont have to use a command dash to combo anymore in the corner depending on the starter. I created some theory combos a while back.

-Of course, the issue with w[5C > 236A] is the fact that it isn't a legitimate form of pressure.

-Negative penalty buff is going to help us in certain match-ups (Carl, Tager, etc).

-New sturm wolf animation speed is absolutely hilarious.

Lastly, sorry for posting this here Kiba. You may or may not want to move these posts to the changelog thread/general discussion.

Ok and some how dreize has made it all better. Just curious are you saying w5c> 236a isnt practical because it's not hit confirmable or something. Just would like to understand why you say that.

Do we have any 1.1 videos of Valk doing something other than jumping around and dying? Or are the players actually having as much trouble adjusting to the changes as it looks? This worries me, besides the Urban Square 3on3 it was looking really bleak.

It was pretty much the same when CP came out. Wait 1 or 2 months to really see how Valk will fare against the whole cast.
It's kinda pointless to watch matches right now and expect Valk players to win against simpler characters with the wja and wolf regen nerf which imples that a LOT of habits will have to be fixed/removed.

For example, punishing a whiffed move at mid-range with 6D>wjB instead of 6D>wjA on reaction. It's not really that complicated but when you consider that those same Valk players grinded CP on arcade for more than 1 year, I'm not surprised to witness them having troubles.

Just give it more time really.

4/1 Mizonokuchi Taito

Nazo no Hone (VK) vs Minoru (RC)

Nazo no Hone (VK) vs Unio (RE)

Nazo no Hone (VK) vs Barrel (TG)

Nazo no Hone (VK) vs Tsuba (TS)

Nazo no Hone (VK) vs Onii (KO)

Nazo no Hone (VK) vs Tiku (TG)

I advise watching. I didn't think 6D > j.C would work from a wj.A confirm and I assumed it'll only work into cannon ender. Followup 3C > 236A is good for a little more damage, heat, corner carry and some time to build back wolf meter.

Upon closer inspection this Valk could be Takenoko but I'm not 100% sure...

Sweet, thanks for the uploads Kiba. Got some good info from that.

Not sure what to make of these j.A > Beast Cannon combos. I like the new w[5A] corner combos though.

Saw him do j.C > 5B > 5C > 236A > 5D > h[2C > 6C > 2C > 6B > 2C > 236A > 5B > 2C > j.B > dj.B > j.C] and it only did 3433 instead of the 3783 that it currently does. Unlisted damage nerf perhaps? Unless I'm missing something here.

He was also managing his wolf meter fairly well. Good stuff.

I'm actually really relieved to finally see some competent play. I'm glad that our combos seem largely the same. Besides the encouragement of playing human footsies more (which might be a good thing for some people, I know it will be for me), this looks like the same old man I've been playing since October :)

4/19 Shinjuku Sportsland

Sensui (PT) vs Suya (VK)

Inagi (AM) vs Suya (VK)

Reji (PT) vs Suya (VK)

Suya (VK) vs Judo (BA)

Suya (VK) vs Keba (MU)

Hima (TR) vs Suya (VK)

Konan (TS) vs Suya (VK)

Zekuso (AZ) vs Suya (VK)

Sometimes Suya sits there in neutral to regain wolf meter, because of the meter regen cooldown, so you may be able to see how this affects his neutral game.

I noticed that Suya liked to add w.5C > 236A to his corner combos after TK Mondlicht, even if he was low on wolf meter. Do you think that the cooldown reset is even worth the damage?

Also, is that Terumi actually Hima, as in OUR Hima? If so: What. The. Fuck. This character ruins everything.

Good question. I suppose the relevance varies depending on how much wolf meter you have, but I won't opt for it when I'm low.

Yeah, that's our Hima.
