Instant Air Dash?

Recommended Posts

Hey I was doing a combo in Challenge mode that requires IAD.

From what I've looked up, it seems you can do an IAD from inputting 956. This seems to work fine but there is one problem..

I cant do it consistently, even after practicing just Instant air dash in training mode.

My question is how did you learn to instant air dash to the point where it comes out 95% of the time?

I feel like I'm developing bad habits by practicing without any information. I already need to get rid of my habit of letting go of the stick randomly..

Try and break down the problem even further. Identify the main problem and correct it.

The biggest problem i had when switching to stick was that i couldn't hit up-right consistently; i would constantly get neutral jumps, which meant my IAD's to the right were terrible. Is that your problem? Or is it between the transition between 9 and 6? If so, just try to do a slow IAD and bring up the speed the more consistent you get. You get about a half a second leniancy to input the 6 after the 9.

It's a mix of both problems. I can tell I'm getting better at it but in the middle of a combo its really hard for me to do.

What comes out instead of IAD?

Instead of IAD I just get a normal forward jump. Chie has to IAD so she can hit the ground faster to do Crouch B into God hand.

Here is what the combo looks like

The IAD is after Skull Cracker into Stand C

Oh hey we got the same stick :P

I remember that when I wanted to get consistent IAD's, I set specific goals in training mode, like getting 5 consecutive IAD's in a row, and starting over if I messed up. Then I would raise the bar and make it 10 IAD's, and then finally 20 in a row. It's honestly just a matter of doing it enough times that it becomes natural, and in your case since its in the midst of a combo try to isolate that section. I'm pretty sure you can set counterhit on and set the dummy to jump for 5C> IAD> j.B to connect by itself if thats the part thats giving you trouble.

Haha, definitely a great for my first stick. Hopefully you like it too!

I'm sorry I forget to repost here saying I'm able to do it now.

I also managed to complete the combo right after I learned how to do IAD properly. For some reason I was able to do IAD easier when I thought "Forward jump, then quickly press forward" instead of "956".

Thanks for your tips, though if anyone has any advice to help GBAer64 and doing IAD's on a gamepad feel free to do so.

On stick something that helped me learn a lot (mainly for Bangs now mandatory IAD combos) is doing a QCF motion starting from 8 to 6 and then double tapping 6 so its 8966, you can even start from 7 to give your brain some time to get used to the awkward input.  After you get used to making sure you do the jump and the dash motion the 96 motion well start feeling more natural. Also if you start from 7 or 8 then you give yourself multiple times to get the jump cancel in incase you have trouble getting the timing right because youre focusing on trying to remember to do the air dash after.

Hey, I know this answer is a few weeks old, but I do have the problem, you just mentioned. Could you tell me how you achieved consistent 9-jumps? My stick features a hayabusa stick lever, if this information helps :D

Just press up right, not much to it.

I kno this is old. But to put quite simply, just mash out 99~. It works with me on any pad.

See when mashing 99~. The game prioritize the forward motion over the jump between the diagonal coordinate.
