[CP] Ragna Gameplay Discussion

So this topic is for discussing anything Ragna related. Even gameplay.

Try to keep off-topic discussion to a minimum. I don't mind the occasional casual talk, for example how Lumin x CarnageScissors should be made into a movie, but I really don't want this topic to turn into another netplay general, or even PSN general. Doing so could bring some unwanted attention and cause a lot more mayhem than what this archaic forum already needs (and it doesn't need any).

What you should talk about:

  • Ragna player discussion (from videos, casuals, etc.)
  • General questions, i.e. fighting game term definitions
  • Questions about a move's certain attributes
  • How to perform BnBs
  • How to become better as a ragna player
  • Matchup discussion (although it's better suited for the actual matchup threads)
What you shouldn't talk about:
  • Overuse of off-topic discussion
  • Tier list discussion
  • Combo theory (combo thread)
  • What color palettes you wear/like/whatever the fuck about palettes

[+] Added 6A gatling option from 6B
[+] New move: Blood Scythe. Can inflict FC.
[+] Dead Spike has much larger horizontal hitbox and is dash cancellable, even without block or hit
[+] Tsuika has looser proration (?)
[+] D Inferno Divider has FC property. Characters like Hazama and Tsubaki get launched to just above Ragna's head
[+] Hell's Fang has more untechable, and launches higher on aerial hit. 5B confirmed to work after aerial HF

[x] Removed wallbounce from forward and backward throw
[x] BK changed from Distortion Drive to Over Drive, name changed to Blood Kain Idea
[x] 22C completely changed. Now causes opponents to slide, wallstick in corner. Dash and special cancellable
[x] Full C Inferno Divider >> Ax Kick combo does 1200 roughly
[x] Devoured by Darkness changed to normal Distortion Drive. Damage and number of hits decreased, however in OD all values are the same as in EX.
[-] Removed FC property from 2C
[-] Removed C gatling options from 6B
[-] Cannot jump cancel 6A on block
[-] Cannot dash cancel 5D and 6C on block or hit
[-] Gauntlet Hades is more unsafe, and Keri Age has less untechable. Cannot connect TK with 2A or 5A
[-] Dead Spike has more recovery
[-] Hell's Fang has less hitstun
[-] Belial Edge last hit has smaller hitbox, harder to pull off than in EX
[-] Straight Punch has much less untechable

Not much to say about Ragna in CP besides two things

he has one new move that looks like GH but with his scythe

...and that he looks just about the same play style wise lol

j.D possibly got nerfed.. The Aerial version of the Scythe knocks down like Heel Drop it seems. Not sure about the knockdown, but it sends Hazama hard to the ground.

certainally looks like, can't tell how much damage its capable of yet though and/or if it will be better than ID in the air

They wouldn't change nothing. I'm curious how his new move will end up being used, hope it's an overhead too, despite it looking kinda slow, could maybe use it as a throw tech trap if you TK it or something.

A new super would be nice too, but only 'cause I wanna see more flashy shit.

The only thing it suggests is that the minimum damage ain't going to be so good. If you take a look, when he does DbD, he has 50 heat, and there is no bar for blood kain. This is suggestive of being able to use DbD outside of Blood Kain, and also, that it takes 25 heat or 50 heat to use DbD, which could be why the damage isn't so spectacular.

Your probably right, besides the new move nothing in the trailer has anything that shows his gameplay has changed at all

and I have a feeling it is, there has been rumours going about that its replacing Gauntlet

well reduced a bit yeah, but for some reason I don't think he is gonna get hit too hard with the nerf hammer

This movement with the scythe seems to be slow.I'd like to see something new with inferno divider

ID is fine, but maybe a new 3rd attack for the finish to go with the straight punch and the axe kick

If that scythe move replaces Gauntlet Hades......it looks cool, but it's soooo slow.

Maybe it won't be minus on block or something.

I say with 25 heat he should have a EX Dead Spike that works like Testament's.

Another one could be a Hell's Fang followup where he jacks you up and does Not Over Yet that has a minimum damage of maybe 500 and gets you oki like 22C except obviously they didn't need to be hit by 3C.

forward exe beast has like nothing in common with dead spike aside from the "beast" aspect lol

Anyone else think his new special is just a replacement for gauntlet hades? It looks pretty similar. Remember when ax kick used to be a C move in CT? Maybe they're just converting GH into a drive special. That health steal is such a big factor after all, amirite?

Also j.d->new special bluebeats. j.d untech nerfed or what?
