[P4AU] Elizabeth vs. Yukari

Holy crap, this matchup is hard. I know I'm terrible at this game, but the only way I've been able to get hits in is to call out a poorly-spaced persona summon and punish. Other than that, there's a lot of worming my way in and blocking while I look for a mistake. We can't really do anything fullscreen since she can 5B us out of the startup of just about anything. It feels like we have to make her scared to shoot at us, but I'm not sure how we can do that when they're so good. IB and hope we're close enough to punish?

Zio the shit out of her. If she has the persona she is at complete advantage full screen, and Liz only has zio. Turns out it's a great tool vs her. None of anything yukari has beats it unless Liz used the move too late or both chars are in different horizontal planes. Regular arrows hit zio more reliably out of startup. Those should not be challenged too much. However grounded arrows even on ch do not lead into much. It's the only tool to be outright respected in neutral. Once she starts setting shit up its zio time. Requires a bit of prediction but hey. Set up bombs is free zio, setting up ground ball is a zio and air wind ball needs an air zio. That's the majority of the matchup. Very scarcely will you be able to get away with anything else. So mix it up between zio shots and trying to get in so that she has to play your rock paper scissors game.

If you manage to get in midrange jb should do nicely as an air to ground when spaced correctly. Once in, whether you broke her persona or she made a boo boo, you can do your normal stuff, just remember her do doesn't need Isis.

One of those simple yet complicated matchups, I think it's easier than fighting yukiko honestly. It requires extreme patience but all that waiting around is free meter and more chances to punish her. If you can sit on a life lead, do so. Just remember if she gets a wind ball out you have to be 2x more careful not to be caught pressing too many buttons.

Zio really isn't that strong in this matchup. Yukari has so many things that discourage using Zio as our go-to neutral tool that it's not worth relying on. I'd recommend slowly moving forward and conditioning her to use certain movement options. Just let her setup if she's not doing something that's easy to recognize and punish with Zio, as her mixup isn't strong.

 

I haven't seen anything that'd make me think this MU is easier than the Yukiko one. We can more reliably use Zio and Agi there, where as we can barely use Zio against a competent Yukari outside of punishing landing recovery most of the time and non-awakened Agis get blown up really easily. Making a poor call on a ground or air Zio will lead to us getting CH, which can lead to a full combo as long as you're not fullscreen (and you don't want to sit fullscreen against Yukari anyways). In awakening, Yukari has to respect our Zios much more, but we have to get into awakening first to even make that an issue. j.B is fine, just don't overextend yourself with it. I prefer using j.A personally since it recovers so much faster and can deal with her air approaches well enough.

 

Oh, and almost every special that we can use at neutral can be punished by Hyper Feather Shot on reaction (if she has 100 SP and you get hit by one of these midscreen, expect to take a least 6k). That's another reason to avoid using too many of them and just being patient.

Maybe this is one of those matchups where it wouldn't hurt me to play a bit of Yukari myself to get a basic understanding of her setups and game plan, so that I can more easily recognize them. I also feel like j.A is pretty handy in this matchup, since it doesn't have much recovery vs j.B and Yukari can punish the living hell out of a bad j.B.
